"I'm more worried about the 'HIS servants' that letter mentioned. My apologies, but I did drop Esme into the room to keep an eye on you. It seems to me that the Slaine guild might just be a part of a greater whole, and even if we were to destroy that particular guild, there may be more who come after us. My inclination is that we find this 'Jin' and get out of here, as fast as possible. Tonight, even. But we have to get a report back to the Slaine guild. That will be up to Tak, Seabeak, and myself. At least one of us has to go there and convince them that the others are tailing you out of the city. I can send them misinformation via Esme once I can get her back into raven form, and we should be able to work freely from there. I'm still working on the whole plan." Jevyn paused for a moment as Esme climbed up the inside of his robes, finding a perch on his shoulder, although she was still a lizard. "Likely, we'll need to stage a fight between the four of us once we get back to the inn. I hate to leave the Cowardly Lion so soon, but we need to get out of here."
"I definitely think we need to weaponize the item in this box and use it to take down anyone that prevents us from completing our mission!"The viashio would say clutching tightly to the bag.
Jevyn sighed. "Don't be too rash about it. We'll talk it over with Seabeak and Tak before we try anything. And we've also got the issue of Locke, here. What happens if you catch him in that necromatic blast?"
"Sounds good, and obviously we would have to make sure Locke wasn't looking at the time" The viashino would say with a grin. "Maybe tell Locke that his pants are not zipped or something...."
"I think we can definitely use it but as Jevyn said carefully. I also agree we need to leave as soon as possible regardless of whether or not we confront the Slaine guild." Tak would add.
((OOC: I don't care how we do it, but IC wise Leaves only wants to rescue Locke and avenge Atlas. And get paid.. Since its by definition all of that is going to be impossible due to missing players and bad decision making, I'd rather not drag it out with arguments.))
Leaves seemed irritable, her beady black eyes glinting in the lamplight maliciously. Her eating knife danced around her fingers-something Locke did himself to calm his nerves. She had in fact taken on many of his mannerisms...
"...Yes, yes. Let's get going. The Turnip Demon still needs to betray us, and we still need to get Locke back. And I wouldn't use that box if I were you, but hey, it's only eternal damnation! Just don't open it when I'm around, hey? All I know is we're not getting paid and we've got scores to settle. We've made powerful enemies and lost some friends. And now I know a few of you better than I would have liked to.
All in all, this is shaping up to be a miserable night, so I'd rather get it over with."
"I am fine with heading straight to the Slane Guild if you all want and Breaking out Locke... Whatever you all want to do"The viashino says with a grin.
Mulling it over, Jevyn glanced behind them. "I'd like to rest up before we take on anything else. Like you say, Seabeak, I expect to be betrayed by our dear friends the Slaine Guild. But we need to secure some things first. I'd like to keep the box with at least two people at any given time. We need to find this Jin, and we need to secure fast transport out of the city. I expect that they may be waiting for us at the Cowardly Lion already, so Shiv and someone else will have to be elsewhere while the other two return to the inn. At some point, we need to debrief our contractors on the job, as well as prepare an assault on their headquarters. I'm personally thinking that arson would be a good move, but that's a lot of gold we don't have. Taking it from the Slaine Guild might be an excellent move on our part. If we're asked about the box, it's currently being held by the Watch. That's what would have happened in normal circumstances, correct? The current issue is that we need to split up, and who will go with who. Then we can set up from there."
Perception to determine if we're being followed: 6
Tak flies in the air for a good view then returns to the ground. "I think we need to rest before we tackle the next step. after that I'm fine with leaving or rescuing Locke."
The streets are almost empty at this godforsaken hour, aside from the odd drunk staggering home after a night of revelry.
(Assuming you return to the Cowardly Lion)
The first vestiges of dawn can be glimpsed on the horizon when you finally arrive back at the inn. Len has apparently closed for the night, and the Cowardly Lion is silent when you enter the common room. You shuffle up the wooden staircase and collapse in your beds, sinking into a deep slumber almost immediately.
The next thing you know, you are being dragged from the comfort of your beds. Disoriented and half-asleep, you are unable to resist as you are flung down the staircase and onto the cold wooden floorboards of the common room. Shiv feels a boot press into his back, and a familiar albino tiefling looming over the prostrate forms of him and his companions. Lazarus is flanked by two hulking thugs, and another four Slaine criminals stand at the top of the staircase.
"I'm very disappointed in your conduct." Lazarus says, shaking his head. "I thought we had a deal."
(You can all roll Hit Dice, but you do not gain the benefits of a Long Rest.)
"We did the job and got the briefcase. You can open it and see for yourself" Tak says looking at his companions. (telepathically saying lets go Lost Ark style and close our eyes so we don't melt like these fools.)

Persuasion?: 11
(Lol, I had Lost Ark in mind as well.)
Lazarus begins to laugh mockingly. "How great a fool do you think I am? I applaud your efforts, but it will take more than that to outwit me. " He snaps his fingers and a bloodied figure is dragged in. You recognize him as one of the Cazzanarro thugs who escaped apprehension.
So Shiv had the box with him in his pack. So I had originally planned to have Shiv close his eyes an use the bedsheet as a glove to take the item out of the box and put it in his vest for safer keeping... what are the chances of that actually happening...
"The hell are you doing here, Lazarus? We haven't exactly taken the time to deliver the box to you yet, you know. We haven't slept properly for two days, and we figured a bit of rest would do us some good. You know what they say, a single night's rest is worth ten thousand gold pieces." Jevyn did his best to maintain eye contact with Lazarus as Esme slipped out of his robes. Struggling to stand up, he swung a fist at the guard's leg keeping him down. "We could be civil about this, you know."
