Kyne pulls Voren's ring of water walking off of his finger and flips it into the air with his thumb, before catching it and holding it up demonstratively between his thumb and forefinger.
"I pulled it from his hand myself. You wouldn't be trying to do us out of our reward would you now, friend?"
The elf smiles at the man like a shark eyeing its next meal.
The man straightens his posture, his tone changed to a more stern and bussines like one.
"Who do you think you are talking to? I am not one of the lot you are used to treat with. I have word. You must understand that I just want to be sure that the stain that is this drug is over. " he looks at every each of you in the eye, finishing with Kyne
"You adventurers... You wouldn't understand."
He stands
"Wait here then. I'll be right back" he says in the tone of someone who is used to be obeyed.
And he walks towards the door and exits the inn if anyone stops him.
Kyne gives Mathilda a meaningful look, nodding towards the door as though to say 'after him'.
"We should follow, but let her take the lead," he murmurs to the others once she's out the door. "Let's keep our distance, let her do what she does best."
Mathilda has been quietly listening, growing more uneasy. She eyes their employer with suspicion. Making a deal, and then demanding more when it's time to pay? Maybe we got ourselves nearly killed by that vampire for nothing... She catches Kyne's eye and, nodding, sneaks after the man as he leaves the inn.
"Where're ya headed off to so fast?! Need to go inform your boss?" Before The Nose has a chance to leave, Hurosk rises and meets him at the door. "You won't tell us your name, so we don't have a clue who we are talking to..." The half-orc pauses a moment to consider his statement and the foolishness of working for someone they know nothing of. "Anyways, what sort of proof could we give. You had no idea who was doing this, or at least you said you didn't, so any sort of physical proof of the maker could be anyone. Not sure what you want from us?!" He places a hand on the man's shoulder and closes his eyes for but a second. "And you don't know who we are. But know that you can't hide from us." He gives a threatening grin, his tusks protruding."Now run along, and don't even think of stiffing us."'
(Imprint Prey and Hunter's Mark up..)
"I will follow a bit behind,"he says to Mathilda, "in case he gives you the slip."
"You are right " he says to Hurosk " I guess that I must trust your words. I realized that when your friend showed me that ring. Could be of that Voren you talk about, or could be his from many years now. Tomorrow I will check that burnt house you spoke of, but tonight I will pay you. I will keep my word, don´t you worry. Now let me go fetch your gold and I'll be back here soon."
Mathilda leaves the inn after the Nose, and she clearly sees him getting into the fog. She has no problem following him but once, when she is turning one corner that he has just caught she find him, stopped in one alley. Looking directly at her.
"What do you think you are doing? "he asks to her almost in a whisper "Go back to the inn now. For your own safety. I will be there soon with your money. Go child. Now!" even in his muffled tone the last word carries an urgency on it.
Moments later Hurosk and the rest of the party goes out the inn to cover Mathilda's back. The fog and the night engulfs them, as they walk throught the covered streets, only with the lights on the ocasional lamps lighting the way like if they were swiming acroos the night sky and the lamps are the solitary starts on it.
They can't see neither the Nose or Mathilda yet, but the half-orc knows exactly where he is and guide them fast and silently.
Having stood back at the inn, a little bored and uninterested in the whole situation, now that they were following a scared man at night in this town Seb'riel's brain started to work. She puts a gentle hand on Kyne's shoulder.
"We should be careful, the man may be right that following is not in our interests. There is more than one vampire looking to control this town. I spent many months seeking another, but always he evaded my visions. We would do well not to be caught in the war between them. Perhaps if we find where he hides I will send word back and have them destroy each other whilst we go for my belongings though." Her words follow her thought patterns directly, not the Seb that perhaps Kyne is used to with her well thought out structured ideas, presented as a logical conclusion. Maybe it is the tiredness, or the lack of social interaction, or maybe a symptom of the torment of the past months but she somehow struggles to focus on a course of action.
After a couple of minutes the rest of the party was following Hurosk. He was directing them towards the center of the town, not in the direction of the Golden Sphynx, but towards the same general area of the city. Then Hurosk sense that his mark turns to the left, and goes faster towards the docks. If they move quickly they could probably intercept him before he reaches the docks if they want.
Mathilda makes her way back towards the docks, lost in thought. Never had someone so important taken the time to notice her, let alone talk to her. And entrust me with a task, an important one! Someone like him would never even notice I'm alive... but he looked directly at me. She blushes as she remembers the handsome nobleman's face.
She is so distracted that she almost runs into her friends in the fog. "Sorry, it's just me!" Mathilda squeaks when she finds herself directly in front of Hurosk's drawn bow. "You won't believe what happened. I tracked the guy with the big nose, but he must have heard me or something. He told me to go back, that it wasn't safe. But then!" She pauses, her cheeks flushed with excitement. "I met his boss! Lord Thrinderad. He wants to meet us at the Golden Sphynx in an hour and he gave me his word, as a gentleman, that we would be paid."
"Curious that they choose the Sphynx as a meeting place, we will not be able to openly carry our weapons, those who need them anyway." Lyreis looks carefully at Mathilda remembering the attempts made by Morlainne to control their minds "could we tell if she is herself or if she is being controlled, humans are notoriously weak-minded." He asks of Seb and Kyne in elven. Switching back to common. "We should be wary of this, I am also surprised that you were spotted by a man so easily, I have seen you, or rather not seen you, move before m, you have great skill, alone that makes me suspicious of the big nosed one's prowess."

Seb shrugs at Lyreis, "I could possibly tell, but it would take 10 minutes and often with vampires their influence is more subtle and less easy to spot by magical means. I think it safe to assume this was the case though, this seems rather fast to have gained such a good impression of someone. If you would like me to get your weapons inside, that won't be a problem hiwever." She keeps a gentle smile on her face that does not betray the seriousness of the discussion taking place in elven.
"I really don't think we need any weapons", Mathilda says with a smile, "he is a gentleman, perfectly trustworthy! And I don't know if the nose guy spotted me, or Lord Thrinderad. The lord seemed like nothing would get by him for sure." She stares off into the fog, still smiling to herself. Maybe that's why he noticed me. He doesn't care about my simple looks or cheap clothes, he sees more in people than just that... Addressing everyone, she asks: "Shall we get going then? I'd hate to be late! He was already so forgiving about me trailing his servant, I would hate to make another bad impression."
In elven again, smile still upon her face Seb'riel murmurs. "Charmed for sure."
Her own words now as soothing as she can manage. "Do not worry, we will not make you late, though I fear I shall not be joining you on this occasion. Such a busy place will not do me good after being isolated for so long."
Mumbling back to Kyne and Lyreis in elven, she tosses her hair back. "Hand me anything you want inside, keep a space between you for me so that nobody accidentally brushes into me, I shall vanish from sight and walk between you."
"Oh! Excuse me." Hurosk drops his aim as Mathilda appears through the fog. He glances around to the elves discuss [knows elvish as well] Mathilda's condition. He shrugs and steps up to the rogue. "Are you sure you're feeling okay?"he says giving her a couple of not-so-gentle smacks with the back of his hand to her cheek.
Mathilda takes a step back and cocks her head to the side. "Yes, of course I am, why wouldn't I be?" She has stopped smiling now, feeling a little self-conscious. Turning to Seb'riel, she says gently: "Don't worry, I'm sure he would not want to trouble a lady in need of rest. I don't want to imagine what you've been through..." She shakes her head at the thought. "Do you want someone to walk you back? Kyne? I think we have enough time that you could get there and back to meet us?"
"Knock her out or play along," Molly growls in frustrated Elvish. "That's the only way through at this point - these monsters have potent powers in the area of mind control."
