Everyone (assuming HDP as well) gathers in the southeast corner and, with the elves leading, head down the narrow corridor. There's a short jog south and then it heads east again. As they round the corner to head east, they see it's a dead end about 20 feet further.
Glynquinal seeing the dead end retraces his steps, and returns to the cavern where the crevasse is. Looking at both ends carefully for any other way out instead of simply returning the way they entered. Looking to the northern end it seems there is any opening of some kind. Climbing down with his 40' length of rope tied to the northern bridge, Glynquinal moves forward to more closely examine the north end.
To Ian, "Ian, it would seem we have to find other paths."
After climbing down into the crevasse at the north end, Glynquinal looks about carefully. The crevasse closes up where the cave wall is. It doesn't go any further. He does, however, find a hidey-hole underneath the north bridge. Inside is a battered wooden chest.
Glynquinal seeing the hiding hole and the chest will investigate the chest looking for traps. Calling out to the rest of the party, "I found something down here. Taking a look now."
Glynquinal opens the chest with ease. Inside, he finds 160 sp, 120 gp, five malachite gems, two potions of healing, a scroll, and a longsword in a silver-chased scabbard. The elf removes the blade from its scabbard to look at it more closely. The sword is inscribed with the name “Talon,” and its hilt is worked in the shape of a bird of prey with outspread wings. It looks to be in very good shape.
Talon once belonged to a great knight named Aldith Tresendar, known as the Black Hawk. One of the other pupils under Glynquinal's master had told Glyn about a sword she wished to find. The sword was beautiful with a hilt in the shape of a bird of prey. Its owner, the Black Hawk, died fighting off the orcs that attacked through hidden caverns below his manor. The pupil had only told Glynquinal the location of the manor was "near the Sea of Swords", but not where. It seems Glynquinal found the sword first.
Thinking hard on it Glynquinal quietly mutters "Interesting." under his breath
"It would seem to be a good find." Glynquinal says to the rest of the party. "My short swords are not quite as effective in hand as what most of you carry already. This would even that nicely. so I can try to keep up with the rest of you."
Getting rid of the goblin scimitar, he had been carrying, and strapping on Talon instead, Glynquinal closes the chest. Well satisfied there is something good discovered with the chest contents he gives his friends a broad smile, "My friends, we have done well here. This is going to be a heavy chest to carry."
Content with the rewards so far in their adventure Glynquinal says to Gruxx, "It will be good to sort out the coin and other things we've discovered along the way when we get out of here."
OOC: Reminder: I'm not worried about encumbrance, so you can carry as much loot as you find with no issues! Someone(s) just needs to add it to their equipment tab so you remember to use it or sell it later.
OOC2: "If the spell is on your class's spell list you can use an action to read the scroll and cast its spell. ... If the spell is on your class's spell list but of a higher level than you can normally cast, you must make an ability check using your spellcasting ability to determine whether you cast it successfully. The DC equals 10 + the spell's level. On a failed check, the spell disappears from the scroll with no other effect."
Herr Doktor unrolls the scroll, but he can't make heads or tails of what is written on the parchment.
OOC3: Your friendly neighborhood DM is reminding you that you're going to miss things if you never investigate your surroundings. Do you notice how when Glynquinal investigated at the north end of the crevasse, he found this cool chest? This might have been the first investigation roll you all have made in this place. Think about things that didn't necessarily make sense in the dungeon and where it might be a good idea to investigate.

Investigation 7
Feeling confident the chest is not trapped, Glynquinal will try to open it.
OOC: Sorry, swamped at work this week.
The Herr Doktor Professor sticks close to the party as the rogues examine the chest.
Rock will hide his face remembering the fable of the roadrunner and coyote, at least there was no hey watch this!
Ian to Glyn What did you find? Do you need any assistance?
Glynquinal opens the chest with ease. Inside, he finds 160 sp, 120 gp, five malachite gems, two potions of healing, a scroll, and a longsword in a silver-chased scabbard. Everyone roll a history check.
Gruxx walks up.
"This blade seems familiar."
History: 7
Edit: Nope... Nope it doesn't.
Glynquinal peering at the long sword searches his memory for mention of such a weapon.

While Glynquinal examines his new weapon, the Herr Doktor Professor will unroll the scroll and try to identify it.
OOC: DDP, how does scroll identification work in 5E? I guess if it's a spell I know then I can read the scroll; if not, do I need the Identify spell?
Gruxx looks it over.
"A fine blade and a fine find! Use it well. Maybe Rock and I on each side of the chest can lift it?"
Strength Check: 23
