"Ouch! Ooh, that looks bad Shadow. And my daggers, HOW RUDE! No more of that, I say!" (Perry gets ready to Counterspell as needed.)
"Come on you salty dogs, stick 'em with the pointing end, or, ah, the blunt end, if you prefer!" (Mantle of Inspiration for 11 temp HP to Unnirth, Poljen, Cratol, Velon and Mari.
Perry unleashes more bolts of force against the massive dragon.
Velon endures the damage, partially protected by magic, but sees that Unnirth is faltering. He reaches up and touches the dragon's tale amidst the fighting, lending strength from Bahamut to heal him for 30 hit points. "Stay with us by the strength of Bahamut, my friend."
With his enhanced speed Velon strikes once more at Hoondarrh, and then again with further arcane assistance, striking the monster with thunder.
Using GWM now that I have more flanking partners despite what I assume is very high AC, and no more STR buff, enlarge, etc. Ignoring fire crystal on Hoondarrh for simplicity as well. C.D. active for +4 to hit.
Skipping GWM with the Booming Blade to ensure I hit.
The Blaze continues to beat down on the exceedingly tough dragon, who finally rips the rear end of the pinnace open enough to stick his head inside. He and Mari both observe what lies in the cargo hold within, which is nothing whatsoever.
---
While the fight over the pinnace had continued, its escorting ship had continued on, eventually shuddering to a halt as it bottoms out in the soft shallows. A ballista fires, trailing a thin length of rope. The bolt slams into the base of the ice dome, and the sailors quickly draw the rope tight, which is looped over the ship's highest mast
Within moments, an iron bound chest exactly like the one that had been seen carried onto the pinnace not minutes before is sent down the newly established zipline, down to where Dessara awaits.
---
On realizing that he had been swindled, Hoondarrh roars with rage, and then lets go of the ruined pinnace, quickly slipping underwater again.
Without the dragon holding up the already sinking boat, Mari finds herself fighting the rising water to escape the cargo hold.
I'll need an athletics check from Mari to get out without complications.
Lia looks at the others in the dome as it shakes. Walking out to learn what is happening she notices the zipline. Relieved that the end of this meeting is now in sight she watches the chest on the way over and then rejoins the others inside when the chest has arrived.
Mari frowns as she realizes that the pinnace bears no mask. Before she can retreat the ship lurches backwards and down as Hoondarrh leaves it to it's fate. Falling debri rain down on her knocking her flat. The rising water makes exiting difficulty. Some of the debri is quite heavy and resists her best attempts to break free. Struggling to hold back her fear she communicates via the link. " Help... I'm trapped in this ship. It's sinking Help, help. "
Cratol sees what is going on with the real chest heading to shore and then hears Maris calls for help as the red dragon sinks beneath the waves again. Calling over the mental link Cratol tells the others that he will go get Mari as they continue their assault on the red dragon. "He may be headed for shore."
Poljen sees the red dragon dive below the surface and decides that someone needs to keep harassing the beast, or at least see what it does while hidden from view.

The tall man essentially flies under the water and lashes out with his weapon once again in an attempt to hurt the dragon.
Once the behemoth has dropped beneath the waves, Lawrance drops his spell, sighing at the waste of magical energy, and begins to look for possible issues in the water. When he hears and see Mari's call for aide and the subsequent rescues, he flies at full speed back to the meeting place.

After rescuing Mari and making sure she is ok Cratol will head back towards the beach and the meeting place to be ready if and when the red dragon comes ashore.
As Hoondarrh submerges again Perry cheers "he's running, WE WON!" "Good job following the lead of Sky Captain Perry Pennington, team!" He then realizes Hoondarrh is actually headed to the beach and complains "oh man, he just doesn't fight fair!" "I can't even see him!" He sighs and he and Shadowsnacks start heading towards the beach. Perry keeps his eyes focused on the water, ready to fire more bolts of force the moment Hoondarrh appears again.
Readied Action: Cast EB (with Hex damage) at the first sight of the ancient dragon.
Mari takes in a big lung full of air after Cratol helps her escape the cargo hold. " Thank you Cratol. " She makes sure she has her blades ready and follows after him towards the shoreline.
Morgaine being caught in the wind from the mighty dragon, recovers quickly and flies up a bit higher to keep out of range. Readying an dragon arrow in her bow she aims at the dragon; unable to get a good shot off; she flies down and over a bit more to see if she can get the arrow off and into the dragon; just as Morgaine seems to be able to get the shot off, the dragon goes into the water as she observes others going after it and hearing Mari's distress call over the link. Seeing and hearing Cratol and others going after Mari; Morgaine decides her only option is to land near the beach and be ready for the dragon to emerge from the water and then get back to the meeting place. Once landed she sees a zipline and a chest going down it towards the meeting place, she does a sigh of relief but keeps her wits about her ready for if or when the red dragon comes out of the water.
Poljen and Velon dive down, chasing after Hoondarrh, only to find the massive creature waiting for them. A spell is cast, and both warriors find themselves suddenly stripped of magic, even as the creature rips at them with his talons.
Elia dives down towards the water, clearly intent on joining that fight.
Antimagic field, your magic items, spells, etc, are all suppressed, including the fire resistance potions. Class abilities like Poljen's rage are unaffected. Since we're counting it as an item, Velon's boon is suppressed as well.
Technically speaking the attacks are all legendary action tail attacks rather than claws, but the visual for that is a bit silly. Poljen is struck twice for a total of 45 damage (23 after rage reduction)
Knowing he is extremely reliant on magic to even possess the full strength he has grown accustomed to, Velon immediately panics when he feels that strength sapped away and is unable to teleport or do any of his other usual tricks. He starts swimming away from Hoondarrh and up towards the surface.
Action: Disengage if necessary, dash otherwise, then all movement up and away
In Poljen's fury, he barely notices the loss of magic. He stays with the large red dragon and keeps doing his best to keep the beast's attention on him, allowing his allies to get the mask away, and being ready for the dragon's resurfacing.

Poljen gets in two more strikes, but then Hoondarrh opens his maw, and flame comes rushing out in a torrential outburst. Fire and steam surrounds Velon and Poljen on all sides, and for a few brief moments, those above the water can see their forms silhouetted against the glow of the flame before a gout of steam roils the water's surface.
Poljen and Velon need to make a DC 24 Dex save for half of 96 fire damage. Velon takes half damage thanks to getting enough distance for his fire resist to pop back up.
Poljen feels great satsifaction as both of his strikes sink into the flesh of the dragon, but then when it turns its head and opens its maw and begins to inhale, rather than strike, he knows what is coming, and does his best to avoid some of it.
Poljen blacks out, and Velon finds himself violently flung about, but still conscious. He is vaguely aware of a massive silver form diving down past him as he reaches the surface.
A few moments later, and Elia is back at the surface, holding Poljen's still form up for someone to take, "Hurry! I must pursue Hoondarrh while he is weak!"
As soon as someone takes hold of the fallen warrior, she dives back below the surface once more.

When the sudden silence on the mental link is broken by a shout of pain from Velon, Lawrance looks at the roiling waters and sees the three of them surge to the surface. Flying down to the water at full speed, he grabs the bulky barbarian and keeps him afloat, hovering. As he hovers, Lawrance taps into the stored and borrowed magic to cast the only healing spell he has available.
