“Ok, hear me out... what if we open the front door and try to draw them in, and leave out the back door when they start to flood in and shut the back door behind us. Meanwhile, Chives can sneak around to the front and shut the door behind them. We’d have them trapped!”
Havena the teacher says, "Wouldn't the Rat Marine in the sky notice us exiting? Chives can probably sneak out but if all of us try to do it, then the Rat Marines would certainly spot us and inform the other rats of our location."
So... to recap, rats are flying on pigeons above you. The back door is secured but lacks rats. The front door is secured and has rats. 1 or 2 people can sneak out the backdoor but anymore than that will be spotted by the flying rats and the rats at the front will quickly circle around and be on top of you. What do you do?
"Hey, everyone grab this table, we'll hold it over our heads and try to make a break for it out the back before we get trapped in here!" Joben motions to enough of the others to grab the table. "Unless someone has a better plan that is, I don't want to get trapped in here and be surrounded by rats."
@futuristic_kf Are you still interested? There's only a story section that basically amounts to a video-game cutscene and then the final battle so the campaign is close to completion.
Okay... I'm going to move this along so we can get to the end of the campaign.
Joben, William, Chives and a bunch of their henchmen grab the table and holds it over their heads and gets ready to run out the back door. Unfortunately the table isn't quite big enough to hold everyone so a few of your henchmen grab chairs to hold over their heads. As you run, out you hear bits of conversation from two of the Rat Marine Pigeon Riders:
Rider 1: What's that? Rider 2: Relax, it's just some furniture running out of the house. Rider 1: Oh okay, nothing to worry about then.
While moving toward the mansion, a few more pigeon riders stop you. They say, "Excuse me, can you tell me which way to the Blacksmith's place?" Allie point toward the place they just came from from under her chair. The Rat Marine thanks you and flies away. You continue your journey toward the mansion and while doing so, you feel like someone is laughing but you can't see or hear anyone. You reach the locked gate and Enora, produces the thieves' tools for unlocking the door. She says, "Alright who wants to try unlocking this gate?"
Joben, the lock was pretty old and somewhat easier to pick. The gates are opened. Now all you have to do is make your way to the mansion. It isn't too far from the gates to the mansion doors. As you get close to it though, the doors open and Orianna runs out and hugs William. "Dad! I was worried about you. Are you alright?"

(ooc: is there a table of any size? something we can hold over our heads as we leave through the back... maybe confuse the rat marines in the sky?)
There are tables. There's also a Chimney.
Um... guys? So are you going to go with the table plan?

Alright, since nobody is saying anything, I'm just going to go ahead and assume you guys are all going along with Joben's plan.
Alright, Jobe, William and Chives, give me a Deception (DEX) check. Your rolls will be added against a DC: 25
Deception (DEX) check: 6
Joben gives Bardic Inspiration to William (can add a d6 to any attack roll, skill check, or saving throw once during the next 10 minutes)
edit: Halfling Luck (reroll for Deception (DEX) check): 12
William and Chives, please roll Deception (DEX)
24 Deception
That's... one hell of a late post... I actually thought the game died off...
I'm more than happy to keep DMing this since it's near the end but is everyone still interested?
I am still interested.

"I'll give it a try." Joben takes the lock picks and tries to open the lock.
Sleight of Hand (same as DEX): 22
