Abigail listens to the conversation between Diadochi and the mayor. During their conversation, she is going to just observe the mayor and the people around ((mainly to see if she notices the same thing that Diadochi does with the ring, or something more, or is just more or less bored... depending on the Insight roll: 11)). However, when the mayor talks about Cloudkiller, she asks, "Whatever became of your grandfather's ax?"
She also adds a question at some point during the conversation, "Do you know where some of the goblin villages are located on the mountain, or know of someone in Rest that could give us some direction?"
When they are done with the mayor and back in town, Abigail is going head off to try and sell her leather armor, while also trying to find: caltrops, parchment, ink and pen, map case, flute, arrows, blanket, and anything she thinks might be of value to the Hn'ti (Insight: 24).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Yaalin promises with a laugh to not murder anyone reveling in the slightly shocked looks locals give her at this statement before following Diadochi to the Mayor's house.
Taking a keen interest in the Mayor's ring but trying (and failing) to not be conspicuous by staring at it trying to figure out what it is and how it works.
She perks up again at the mention of runestones being kept elsewhere, "There are more of these stones then? I apologize for interrupting but I am hoping that access to a similar stone may help track down the originals ones that were stolen." She shuffles around in her bag for a moment, "I had some time to think upon that mountain and I believe I owe an apology to you, sir." Turning awkwardly in place as she attempts to reach another bag, "You were just trying to warn me and I am sorry I did not take the warning in the spirit it was offered." She finally produces the 2 chainmail sets she has been carrying., " I am hoping a small peace offering will soothe any ruffled feathers. She will offer to give the Mayor both sets of chain. "May these help protect Rest from the mountains threats"
The mayor seems honest, if maybe a little full of himself. Even the people around seem to like him. Due to Diadochi's natural regal state, he seems to want to impress him as much as possible. Yaalin stares at the ring, but isn't able to really tell anything about it outside how it glistens and shines. An iron band, some kind of moonstone, and some sort of thread through it.
He chuckles a little bit. "My granfather's ax? I've got it. It's a beautiful thing. A heavy metal blade attached to some kind of rare wood. Inlays on the handle to assist with the grip of the weapon. I just don't leave it around often. Maybe if we all get together when this is all over for a meal, I will give you all the chance to show it.
The mayor gives a small huff at the sound of where. "We don't go wandering up the mountain often. I'd have to confer with my brother. I believe he's somewhere around here. Look for the sheep, he's normally with his herd during the day and early evening."
"Hmm? Yes. Orta makes the Runestones and keeps them. I would have to ask her. I believe she's working on layering some new ones, but they do take time." When Yaalin hands over the chain mail, the Mayor is shocked. His eyes a bit wide. He stops, and stammers for a brief second. "I...." he slowly puts them down before walking close to Yaalin. Shaking her hand and giving her a warm embrace. "And I too apologize for any rudeness I may have given to you as a guest in my land. Please, I hope you all do come for dinner when this is all over."
(Abigail, your shopping list... Caltrops will take a day to make, as someone has to carve them from bone. 2 gold, 5 silver Nicely made wooden flute, 3 gold. Still an absolute bargain Someone is willing to pay 4 gold, 3 silver for the Leather Armor)
Yaalin walks back through the town taking interest in the good Abigail is perusing before seeing the backpack. Running a hand over its surface she turns to Abigail. "Do you mind if I buy this for me? I am something of a collector if you couldn't guess."
Sim listens as the mayor talks about Orta. “I don’t understand your grandfather led an army to go stop the priestesses. Your half brother hates her and calls her a witch. Add in the fact she wants the head of the hn’ti chief as retribution for her sister and he should be you ally...Yet you tolerate her in your town? How did this come to be? I need to understand.”
The Mayor interrupts Sim a moment as he begins to talk and ask some questions. "My Grandfather was a great man and a great soldier. He lived a good and honorable life. For what you're talking about, I honestly have no idea. But I don't associate with the tribes of the mountain. My place is here. Sure, there have been times they have sent a child who learns our language and sometimes there have been trade. But they stay up the mountain, and I take care of Rest."
To the others who have rolled insight, you feel like he's telling the truth. What Sim is saying, he's not one to know.
"As for Orta. Her magic makes our lives easier. Whatever deal, whatever servitude she fell into with my Grandfather, is now passed on to me. And I make sure she keeps up assisting the town." He gives a firm nod, while gesturing out towards the town of Rest. "And truth be told, it's half brother. He's not my full brother. He lives between the tribes. I tend to folk here."
Diadochi hears Yaalin ask for a backpack from Abigail. Behind Yaalin's back he'll (use his trunk to) pass Abigail a gold coin. "Well if we're shopping anyways, let's go ahead and get that wood carving kit, also should we restock on rations while we're here? Sims great at hunting but you can't squeeze meals out of a lifeless empty stretch of rock... Really not that we are getting closer to the confrontation with Orta, and our possible demise, I find that I'd rather put that off in lieu of anything else."
Diadochi is willing to sell the similar and the 4 Spears he and Yaalin found in the survivor cache.
Abigail nods to Yaalin and takes the coin from Diadochi, "Sure, it's all yours. I will add it to my purchase."
"Right, I almost forgot... It would be nice to have some sort of reliable rations while up there." Abigail starts shopping around with Diadochi for some dried rations... and some skins for filling with the herb-drink from the Blood Raven. Then, if it is not too late, she will accompany anyone going to Orta's hut; otherwise, she is going to head back to the Blood Raven for the night.
Shopping Trip Expenses (to be updated with any Rations and Drink purchased)
(Woodcarving kit : 2 GP Rations: Free, the caravan has a few months of rations. As well as general supplies for 6 months. Spear: can be sold for 3 silver a piece.)
Shopping, gathering supplies, building some rations takes the better part of the day. Traveling back and forth. Finding the right person. Waiting for them to have a moment, and scrap together some coin. Sometimes with the help of the mayor, instead of receiving a bucket of copper coin he assists in exchanging it to a more manageable coinage.
Orta's house is still off in the distance. Shepherd's flock roams around the outside of Rest.
Lafetha explorers the town while everyone is shopping around. She ends back up at the Blood Raven where everyone else is. She suggests heading over to Lady Orta's, and starts to head that way.
Rolls for seeing what all is around the town, and if anything has changed/seems out of the norm since the last time we were here.
Orta's has changed very little. Except it's definitely... warmer. The humid fair flowing off of the tree. The ground a bit softer. Small patches of moss can be seen along the stepping stones that act as a path to her door. A faint glow from the small lone window on the side of the place has a shadow that moves around a bit. It still stinks, however. The smell of hot tar and lacquers filling the air with noxious fumes. The front door is firmly closed. Not a shock based on your previous interactions with her being less than cordial.
Since they are going to the caravan anyway Diadochi will take a few minutes to talk to Mama.
"I'd like to apologize for how I acted last time we spoke. I was... Not in the right frame of mind. This whole excursion has been a parade of not my finest moments that would definitely throwing candy and sweets into the crowd. Also before we headed out last time there were some tents available. If they are still available I'd like 2 more, if you'd be so kind. Also I've heard tales of others on this mountain also looking for the Apple. Are there other Blackmire teams that might be out here looking for the same thing? If so what is the protocol if we come into competition over the Apple?"
Diadochi takes the silver for the spears and gives the gold for the wood carvers kit.
Diadochi will nod hearing Lafetha's suggestion "I suppose we've put it off long enough. Tally ho!"

Mama B looks over at Diadochi as he assists in making and preparing some of the rations for the group.
"Tent? Yeah. I got another." She hobbles over to the back of the wagon. Getting the supplies for the other spare tent. It's hefty weight up on her shoulder before she hands it off to him. "Now. Get yer head back in order. Don't need no ramblin loxodon nonsense. That'll just get you killed out in the wilds. But I s'pose being out here make anyone go crazy after enough time."
She gives a bit of a sigh, shaking her head. "Shouldn't be others from Blackmire. But if they did send another team, we work together. Contract is to get the apple. Their contact would be get the apple. We ain't like those who run the Nest. Mercs on contracts."
Diadochi knocks on the door "Orta it's" Diadochi looks at everyone trying to think of a team name on the spot "Diadochi and the Wise bears..." Diadochi winces, clearly not a good name he'll have to workshop it later. "You know the adventures you met a while ago. We'd like to talk to you if you are amazing amiable to it."
Diadochi knocks on the door - calling out. A few minutes of silence, followed by the sounds of some shuffling. After a moment, the door opens a crack. The wicker face-mask of Orta looking out at you; her large yellow eye still the only defining feature of her face.
Lafetha pushes past Diadochi, and knocks on the door again. "Hi Lady Orta it's Lafetha. Do you remember me? My friends and I were here a little bit ago. We wanted to check in and we also had a couple of questions for you. Can we come in?"
