Lafetha looks at the smooth stone and then at the orb wondering what the color means arcana 7 while aslo trying to figure out who this familiar voice is
Lafetha - you take a moment. The voice simply feels familiar. But, you don’t think it’s of anyone you technically know. It’s more of some kind of psychic impression giving you a feeling. While studying, you’re not able to entirely figure out what spells may be at work. But you do think that the crystal is a connection point to somewhere else.
After everyone pulls themselves together Sim is going to head back to where the cave branches off (room 2?) with Abigail scouting ahead and Diadochi holding up the light.
(Unless anyone wanted to do anything else with the statue and/or orb)
The group returns to the commons (area 2). The room is still as you left it. The hobgoblins laying dead on the ground, some of them looted from your combat from earlier. In the background you can hear some of the wolves still in their pens moving around (area 5).
You don't hear anything coming from further into the cave (area 11).
Abigail scouts ahead, the room continuing to descend further down. The room itself... stinks. A lot. As the group waits a bit....
Abigail continues forward....
On the floor, and leading down into the mountain is a series of holes with iron bars across them. The actual stench seems to be coming down from there. Rotten food. Putrefying particles. It's probably the bathroom. The gates keeping whatever could be down these chutes from simply crawling up and out. But the space between the bars is large enough that someone could try to pry it open and crawl it's way out.
Down a side corridor you see a figure moving towards you. The robed figure is definitely not a regular goblin, their height being closer to you in height and build. Horns seem to extend up and out of a hood that's drawn over the majority of it's face. It's own movements up against the wall, trying to stay out of sight of whoever else may be here. The figure hasn't seen you yet.
Abigail watches the figure trying to stealth through darkness. "What are you up to my sneaky little friend," she thinks to herself, trying to glean some sort of insight as to his purpose. (12).
The figure is being as cautious as you are; clearly trying to avoid detection. The sounds of your own team aren't easily heard down this corridor, so you do not believe they are suddenly steathing towards your own party. Although the nature of the cave may lead them in that direction.
Abigail ponders, "I wonder what this stranger is up to?" Her curiosity getting the better of her, Abigail decides that it would be best to tail this shadowy horned figure.
The horned figure continues to move back and up through the chamber, heading over towards the spot you entered. NEar the grates and the absolutely terrible smell. Another one seems to step out of the shadows ahead of the other; you having missed that one. The two figures say something in what you can now safely assume is goblin. One peers around a corner, likely seeing the light from Diadochi. And in a sudden instant, they both vanish from sight. A puff of smoke seeming to be left in their place.
Down at the end of the corridor where you saw the figures. There' a few boxes of supplies and materials. They're full of salted meats, some grains, and other supplies that could sustain people. A few of the crates have definitely been looted, but you aren't able to make out what was originally there. Just that the fibers and packing material has been shifted all around.
Diadochi, Yaalin, Lafetha, Sim.
Abigail's been gone for minutes. Longer than she's normally been gone in the previous areas.
Abigail's mouth waters at the salted meats. "I very much doubt this will be missed; now that there are much fewer mouths to feed." She grabs a pound of cured meat and heads back to the group to tell them that the next room is clear.
((After reporting back to the group that the room ahead is clear, and moving with them into Room 11))
"Alright, you all can rummage around in here while I go check out the next room. Might be something of interest hidden in all that filth, but I doubt it."
The interior of the cave cuts into much more of a tunnel. Remnants of a door lining the outside before the rough stonework changes to being more similar to the rest of the cave. Parts broken off. Odds and ends of things now encased in stone. Abigail's keen eyes notice a few things. The first is several small holes along one of the walls, and a small pressure plate.
(Thief Tools Proficency + DEX to Disarm. Disadvantage if you do not actually own Thieve's tools. DC 13)
Another is a single stone that's out of place. A faint glimmer of some kind of ward or rune sitting on it.
(Thieve's Tools Proficency + INT to Disarm. Disadvantage if you do not actually own them. INT / Arcana check to know more on the rune. DC 15)
Abigail pauses... "It has been a while since I have had to use my skills of ill repute, " she smiles to herself, "Almost like old times."
Abigail first tries to figure out more about the rune (Arcana: 10), but decide to deal with the pressure plate first; an trap she has had more experience with...
Pressure Plate Disarm: 21
Having disarmed the pressure plate, Abigail heads over to the rune. "Well, only one way to gain expertise in this stuff I suppose." With her tail curled tight around her, Abigail attempts to disarm the magical trap...
Abigail pulls up the pressure plate, placing her tools along side and under it. Slowly disconnecting the small hooks and mechanical systems that tie into whatever is inside the walls. You fiddle with the mechanism for only a few moments - it seeming to be like many other devices you've dealt with before. The pressure of the plate activating the little holes in the wall to fire off a round from whatever crossbow like contraption is hidden in them. After deactivating it, you turn, using your hooked tools to pull out 4 crossbow bolts, one of which is better crafted than the others. (Crossbow bolt +1)
Successfully disabling that trap, you get down low. Moving on to the floor. As you pick and prod at the rock around the rune, your hand slips. Your fingers pressing on the object as the symbol glows brightly. A overwhelming sense of terror coming over you....
Sim, Diadochi, Yaalin, Lafetha....
You hear Abigail sprinting towards you at full speed, screaming. (Abigail, give a WIS Save, DC 15, or be afraid of the hallway for the next hour). Her screams echo up and down the halls, especially with them being quieter now that the barracks is empty.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The walls morph into thin membrane, as the creatures behind them attempt to push through. Faces slide along the thin veil and it is clear that the monsters attempting to break through the walls and into the room are large demonic canines.
Wisdom Save: 21
See runs screaming into the room with the rest of the party, "They are in the walls! They are in the walls! Quick! Run for your.... " Abigail snaps out of her panic, but she still looks twice and large from her fur being all poofy. Trembling she says, "Shit... Well, um, so..."
Yaalin puts a comforting (at least in her mind) hand on Abigail's shoulder and pats some of her fun down. "it's ok friend, we shall purge these walls for you...." Turning to the others she calls' "No sense skulking about they know we are here now!"
And she then proceeds to march down the hall the to 12 the shield of Yeth shedding Light before her....

Abigail is taken aback in surprise. "Well, I hope that does not come back to haunt me," she thinks. "Okay, right, stay focused Abigail."
Abigail goes back to scouting ahead for the group.
