"Going to Phandalin?! if it is true that our employer has been kidnapped...what for? Plus: I cannot leave them at the mercy of those monsters"
Then, guessing not everybody could feel as willing as him, he adds:
"Consider that they will likely give us a big reward if he free them, we must search for tracks around here: those goblin must have come from somewhere... I am not that good at this but I am willing to help"
ooc: HELP action on everyone who is more skilled than Ajax on searching tracks, giving him/her advantage
The vegetation comes almost up to the edge of the road on both sides. There are various shrubs and bushes, ranging from knee to shoulder high, and they are fairly thick. Beyond the bushes and shrubs, there are also lots of trees.
Mulligan: As you inspect the marks on the road that Kai pointed out, you are able to pick up the tracks as they lead off into the forested area. You can tell that goblins have been tramping through here, and more than just the 5 that ambushed the party. You also see two sets of drag marks, which lead northwest.
Mulligan scoops up his hammer, and walks over to the footprints. "I'm seeing a lot of little goblin feet over here. More than just these patsies," he says while pointing at the dead goblins with his hammer, almost accidentally hitting Odo in the process. "Yikes, sorry about that. I'll be more careful."
He puts his hammer away and points northwest using only his hand. "They went that way, I think."
I would like a consensus on what the party is going to do - follow the goblin trail or continue on to Phandalin. If you elect to follow the trail, please indicate marching order and what you plan to do with the wagon while you search.
((Ok, consensus is to follow the goblin trail. Marching order is Ajax, Odo, Kai, Wagner, and Mulligan.))
The wagon is pulled by two oxen, and both the oxen and wagon are too large to pull off the road. However, since the road is currently blocked by the horses, it should be fine to leave them. The party ties off the oxen and heads off down the trail indicated by Mulligan.
Ajax: After you and the party have been following the faint trail for about an hour, you notice something odd up ahead. You spot a rope half hidden in the leaves on the ground. After looking for a minute, you realize it's some kind of snare trap.
Kai: You approach the trap Ajax pointed out. It is clearly a snare trap, meant to catch someone unawares and sling them upside down into the air, presumably until whoever set the trap comes along. It's a fairly simple trap, and easily avoided by stepping around it.

"Let me see what I can do," Mulligan says.

The vegetation comes almost up to the edge of the road on both sides. There are various shrubs and bushes, ranging from knee to shoulder high, and they are fairly thick. Beyond the bushes and shrubs, there are also lots of trees.

Ajax readies himself
”so let’s take that path for some hours at least, and see where it leads”
,
Odo looks down the path toward Phandalin warily.
"I don't suppose you all packed enough food for more days than we initially planned? My stomach isn't accustomed to roots and berries..."
He takes a step off the road toward the tracks.
"But I guess if we must...."
I would like a consensus on what the party is going to do - follow the goblin trail or continue on to Phandalin. If you elect to follow the trail, please indicate marching order and what you plan to do with the wagon while you search.
((I'd say we follow the trail
marhcing order : I can be on front
cart: it depends: if the goblins followed a path/road/trail , we bring the cart with us otherwise we hide within the vegetation as best as we can))
,
I agree with Ajax. Lets hide the wagon, take any food and the horse and follow.

((agree with Ajax. I'll be 2nd in marching order. Agree with Kai on the wagon and food.))
Same, I'll pull up the rear on the marching order.

As we leave, one of the oxen says, "Sure, leave us for Goblin bait."
Kyanite casts Minor Illusion
At the look of surprise on everyone's face, Kyanite laughs. "Sorry, just a little joke."

Ajax signals to the others the trap ahead
Look there
,
"Yeah?" Odo says, as he starts to approach. "Just an old piece of rope, who cares?"
Wagner absently mutters, "The things that can be done with an old piece of rope..."
Liarin: Against the Cult of the Reptile God
Adewild: Shadows and Light 2
Brother Thaddeus: Rime of the Frostmaiden.
Kyanite cautiously approaches and investigates the piece of rope
