((There is a Townmaster, you heard about him at the inn - he is the authority of the town, such as it is. Sildar is based there as well, as a member of the Lord's Alliance. You might be accused of murder, though you would hope that the townsfolk would not only back up your defense as well as be grateful that someone is dealing with the Redbrands. Taking the unconscious man to the authorities may be wise. As for numbers, there are probably at least several more in town, though they likely have a hideout somewhere. Ajax, you remember Pip mentioning a secret tunnel that may have involved the Redbrands. The scarlet cloaks they all wear seem to be their brand.))
”I am not happy to leave their bodies here, they were thieves all right but they deserve a decent funeral nonetheless, and the villagers must know they are not defenseless and the town master must know as well about the situation “
You tie up the Redbrand and carry him to the Townmaster's Hall. As you approach you see that the townmaster's hall has sturdy stone walls, a pitched wooden roof, and a bell tower at the back. Posted on a board next to the front door is a notice written in Common. It reads: "REWARD-Orcs near Wyvern Tor! Those of a mind to face the orc menace should inquire within." The notice bears the town's seal and an indecipherable signature.
When you enter, you see a large room and three doors. Two of the doors are shut. The open door seems to be an office, from what you can see. Inside, sitting behind the desk, is Sildar. He looks up at the sound of your entrance, and smiles in greeting, though his smile slides somewhat as he notices what you are carrying. "What has happened?" he asks, striding out from behind the desk.
"We... found this one next to three others, just outside the Sleeping Giant. He's the only one still alive so we thought it would be a good idea to bring him in."
Sildar frowns as he notices the man's scarlet cloak. "Well, I suppose the Townmaster should handle him." He looks around at the party. "I was actually going to send for you - I have some tasks I thought you could help me with. I am still trying to locate my friend Iarno. It seems he disappeared somewhere around Tresendar Manor and hasn't been seen since." He frowns again, then says, "I have also been unable to find anymore information about Gundren. If you would be willing to locate Cragmaw Castle, where he was taken, I can offer you a reward."
Just as Sildar finishes speaking, a fat, sweaty, slick looking man enters the room from another office. He smiles, seeing the group and Sildar, and says, "Oho! You lot look like a fine adventuring party. Are you here for the job about the orcs?"
“I reckon you have a lack of adventurers, haven’t you?
we will be surely interested in all the matters where we can but, first and foremost, we must track this cragmaw castle; second , what are we to do with these red brands: I fear ripercussions on us (deserved if you want) but especially on civilians, for they are nnothing but cowards”
The Townmaster's smile slides a little as he notices the unconscious man. "Well, now, there's no need to worry about the Redbrands," he says, smiling sickly. "They're just a mercenary guild - they don't cause too much trouble around town. We can just let this one sleep whatever it is off and go back to business as usual," he says jovially. "I don't know what castle you're talking about, but the orcs have certainly been causing trouble - there's a reward of 100gp if you can take care of them," he says with a slick smile.
Sildar clears his throat, smiling at the Townmaster, though his distaste is evident. "I'll just take a moment of their time while you deal with this," Sildar says, waving in the direction of the Redbrand. The Townmaster's smile disappears for a moment, but returns almost immediately. "Of course, of course, my Lord," he says with a mocking bow. Sildar turns back towards his office and beckons you inside.
Sildar waits until you are inside the office, then closes the door. He is muttering under his breath, and you hear the words, ". . . shortsighted idiot. . ." before he sighs and goes to sit behind the desk. He looks at you all tiredly, but with a friendly smile. "As I said, I am still trying to find my friend Iarno. I am also trying to uncover the whereabouts of Gundren. If we can locate him and his map, then the reopening of Wave Echo Cave would bring prosperity back to Phandalin. Unfortunately, as you have seen, the Redbrands are a problem. One that Townmaster Harbin is too willing to ignore." He sighs again, leaning back in his seat.
"I think that until they are taken care of, whatever plans I may make for the future of the town will not come to fruition. I've heard rumors that their hideout is near here, possibly in Tresendar Manor. I'd like to leave this problem in your capable hands while I work on finding more information. That is, if you are willing?" he asks hopefully.
"Given what's already happened to us today, we may not have much of a choice. Either we go after them, or they come after us."
Mulligan describes what happened earlier in the day, with particular emphasis on the parts where the party tried to avoid combat and only fought when it became apparent that there was no other choice.

Ajax disagrees
”I am not happy to leave their bodies here, they were thieves all right but they deserve a decent funeral nonetheless, and the villagers must know they are not defenseless and the town master must know as well about the situation “
,
"Fair enough. We can alert Sildar to the fact that there is a situation involving the Redbrands, and bring this one in to the guard for questioning."
"But let's not go around advertising that we were the ones that did it, yeah?"
You head towards the Townmaster's Hall, bringing the unconscious Redbrand with you. ((Do you tie him up or restrain him? Drag him? Carry him?))
((What do we think? Mulligan probably could fireman's carry him, but do we want to tie up his hands and feet first?))
Ajax would gladly tie him up

Ajax follows Sildar inside the office

Mulligan drops the large Redbrand onto the ground with a loud *thump*, and follows Sildar and Ajax.

Kyanite frowns, "Or to give them the slip and get out of town. Its hard to have a fight when the other side cannot be found."
