”I don’t know. It was shortly after my 20th name day that I left home and could of find my way back. That was around spring time of [insert date about 80 years ago here]”
Zakon just blinks at Saryn's words. He starts to speak, then stops. He starts again, then stops again. Finally, he clears his throat and says, "Well, it appears you have much to catch up on."
Zakon looks at Saryn, then says slowly, "It's been 80 years." He watches her closely, waiting to see what she does. What kind of magic would cause her to lose 80 years? he wondered silently. Yet another puzzle to add to his list.
[Hey, if you all still have character conversations going on, that's fine. One of my coworkers is out and I'm rushing to cover all my bases. I will try to post sometime tomorrow.]

Eyes widening with shock her mouth moving forming the words 'Eighty years?' though no noise passed her lips. Her hair going suddenly stiff and taking on a sparkling white sheen. Zakon , watching her closely, might be reminded of fields of grass feeling the first frost of the winter. She absent mindedly makes her way to a chair and sits in silence.
Zakon watches as a look of shock flits across Saryn's face. She makes her way to a chair, and Zakon follows her, hovering. "Are you all right?" he asks. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to just blurt it out like that, but - " he says, wringing his hands. "Well, there's no easy way to deliver news like that, is there?"
Coming our of her stunned silence Saryn gives her fellow gnome a hearty pat on the shoulder. “You’re right. No easy way to learn that, and I asked you. Getting it directly is best in the long run. Besides I’ve missed to much as it is. No use losing more to unnecessary words.” She takes a deep breath jumps up from her chair. “Or in mopping around about things you can’t change. Let’s see What we can do about this war!” Hefting her axe, hair again a vibrant green dotted by wild flowers, Saryn glanced about as though looking for something to do.
Saryn's and Zakon's calm voices help Wysayra stay focused on here and now as she shakes off the last bit of shock from her flashback "back to the inn?"
Zakon looks at Theo. "Back to the inn? Perhaps we should talk about whether we truly want to involve ourselves in this. Taking a message to the Nine? Not sure I want to get that deep, myself," he says, rubbing his chin. "Best to talk it out, aye? Before we go painting a big target on our backs?"
Theo nods in understanding. "Zakon, I think that we find ourselves caught up in events beyond ourselves. You and Viaya have been the bravest of companions and there is more to do. The Valecemonian aggression can not go unchecked. People need to know. I think we should make arrangements to travel to Golgere and deliver this message to the Nine."
"Wysara and Saryn, we could use your help." Theo offers the gnome, Saryn, his hand. "You have been touched by the Gods, perhaps you want to see what has happened to the world in your absence. Wysara, perhaps you can prevent this tragedy from happening again?"
Zakon nods his head, thinking over Theo's words. He still doesn't want to get involved, but watching Theo's devotion and service as they have traveled has begun to weaken Zakon's hatred of those in the clergy. Perhaps not everyone is evil and self-serving, he thinks. Have I painted everyone with the same brush, assuming they are all like him? he wonders. He sighs. This is not what he would have chosen, but Theo is right. It is the right thing to do. Besides, they can't just leave Wysara and Saryn to fend for themselves.
Zakon looks at Theo, then at Saryn and Wysara. "Theo is right. We could use your help. This will likely be dangerous. Perhaps we can help each other?" he asks.
Wysara looks over the other's thinking. the only question that matters is whether this will stop another massacre from happening, a chance even the tiniest sliver of a chance of stopping someone else having to go through the horrors of that night..."could we live with ourselves if we did not go" she trails off... taking a deep breath she stands just a bit straighter, with determination and, resolve looking each one of them in the eye "I know I cant"
After a brief return to the inn to gather supplies, the group set off. Viaya, however, did not join with the others, claiming that she would take care of other business in relation to their task. In truth, she was still concerned by how much Leokus really knew about her whereabouts, and wanted to ensure she would not be found out again. However, the remaining four of the team were all willing to set off for the capital in hopes of getting some action taken.
Not far into their journey, trouble manages to find them...
As you open your eyes, you find yourself in an eerie cavern. The interior is dimly lit by the sunlight shining through the hole in the ceiling. You feel sharp pain in your head as memory of recent events snapped back into your mind. As you had traversed on your path towards the capital, the ground beneath you had crumbled, throwing you underground, and upon hitting the rocky floor, you blacked out for an unknown amount of time.
Now that you've regained your consciousness, you find yourself in a manmade cavern with an upturned wagon to your side and beyond it stands a heavy wooden door.

Zakon looks at Saryn almost incredulously. "How long have you been gone?" he whispers. "All Valcimonians want is war."
Theo
"We will deliver your message to the Nine. Hopefully peace will prevail, but at least you should be prepared for war."

”Don’t worry I can guard your backs. And your fronts.”
[So, sounds like there's still some decision making to be hashed out. No worries. I'll let your characters come to a consensus before moving forward.]
