"oaf! Now we can't sell that blade as new! Do you have any idea how depressed the market is for second hand daggers is?"
"Sell? No shop!"
"Nonsense! That lionhead filly was giving us the eye, she'd definitely take the job lot off our hands."
"Eye? What eye?"
"Oh...uh....I'll explain when you're.... Older?"
"Mean special tingle?"
"Shhhhh! Not in front of company! Now you three gentlemen, explain yourselves. And make it good - I'm out of pocket here and right now you're just three big bags of raw materials."
Scupper, Pru is somewhat socially awkward at times, but enjoys the tour of the hideout (Blinky is hiding - you can see him, but she does not). She listens eagerly to any tales of piracy you care to tell, but she has a very clear goal in mind for the night, and we will tastefully fade to black now.
The leader is clearly very scared and in a lot of pain. Ahh, shit. He tries to steady himself against a wall, looking frantically between Varinth, Strix and Dekhan, seeing how he has allowed himself to be surrounded.
Look, we weren't going to hurt you, okay? Sorry and all that. It's just a job, you know? We got paid to bring you home, half now, half on delivery. The instructions were very clear, we don't hurt you. So, okay. We underestimated your friends. That's fine. It's our mistake. But really, Master Tannerman, you should come home with us. It's for the best, really it is.
The other two kidnappers have their backs to the far wall, still saying nothing and watching their leader in alarm.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
What the hell is so important for me to go home? Is everyone okay? Put pressure on it. Not like that. Bloody hells.
Varinth will try and help the would be kidnapper by trying a little combo spell he had been working on in his head over the last couple of weeks, what with all the blood and all. He would call it Hot Hand if there were a Lexicon for these kind of things, which now that he thinks about it there must be. I'm a sorcerer, I should probably know this.
The point of the spell is to cauterize wounds. No healing just the stopping of more blood loss with a very hot hand. He will give it a wee try.
Varinth, whatever spell you're attempting doesn't quite seem to work. You feel your own hands becoming a little warmer than usual, but nothing else happens. The bleeding does seem to be under control now, as the man is covering the wound more successfully than before.
Your family is fine, of course. The leader looks a little nervously at his fellows. That is to say, um, they want to you come home, yes. They didn't, um, tell me the reason, sir. They just paid me to get it done. Paid us, that is, he gestures over to his two friends. Look, we've gotten off on the wrong foot, I can see that. Really, we were hoping you'd come willingly, and we'd just be your escort. Like an honour guard. Maybe we could still do that? he looks hopefully at you, then winces from the pain of his wound.
Feeling his shift ending, Strix lets out a piercing shriek for effect and then wipes the blood from his blade on the trespasser's clean shoulder. "Honor guard?" He snorts derisively. "Ha! Page boy, mebbe."
He picks up his orc flute and blasts out a few notes. Performance : 0
"Never had one lesson!" He calls happily between assaults. "You know, in my experience there are no wrong feet." (Tootily toot toot) "only uncomfortable shoes. So, if he wants to stay, how many bodies will I need to hide before you accept his decision? Will others come? I had plans of my own you know..I'm an artisan now, I can't keep sullying stock on wandering ill-mannered buffoons"
Right then. He digs out his purse. Here is your payment for returning me. You are also going to return those letters. Perhaps Mama will pay you as well. Perhaps not but you will do it. You know why? Because the wrath that my Mam could rain upon you will seem like an infinitesimal snow flurry compared to the fiery ass whopping you would receive from me and my friends if you don't. Are.We.Clear?
To Varinth: Second half was thirty gold, sir, says the man. As far as you can tell, he's speaking the truth and not really keeping anything back. He looks like he's finally realising that he's out of his depth. The others don't factor - they're used to looking to him to take the lead and they're still doing so. They look unsettled by the 'music' that Strix is making, and would rather be anywhere else in the world.
Here Vaz slams the coin into the leaders good hand (taken off CS). Now you best start riding. I gather you weren't gunna hang about with me all trussed up. And be wise and stay clear of a camel if you see her. She's a lot less forgiving than anyone I know.
Varinth will let them leave. Once they are gone he will give Strix a hug (in part to thank him and also in hopes of it stopping his musical endeavors)
Thank you Strix
OOC: Okay I think I know what I did wrong there. Click advantage but not 2 dice?
I think all those were d20s, so the first one you rolled was a five, giving an intimidation roll of 7. If you've already rolled on die, then you only need to roll one more for advantage/disadvantage, as the one you already rolled still counts.
The man takes the thirty gold pieces; he looks stunned. I, um, yes. Yes, sir. We'll take the letters, to be sure. And we'll deliver them too, you have my word. Right guys? The other two nod. Thank you. I mean... he pauses, just thank you, sir.
They edge towards the door, trying to keep as far as they can from Strix and looking a bit nervous at Dekhan and his glowing eyes. They walk away from the room, and as soon as they reach the stairs you hear them break into a run. You can still hear them as they make their way up the road out of town.
The rest of the night passes rather peacefully. Varinth, you spend most of the rest of the next day reflecting on what happened, possibly with the assistance of the cheap wine and ale provided on the house at the inn. Scupper, you awaken to find that Pru has already left. The others spend a quiet day engaged in the various tasks you had planned, whether training, crafting, shopping or talking.
Dekhan, the day passes quickly, and that night you sleep in the inn. You sleep, and you dream. The dream is of a tree, not particularly large, not particularly old, but somehow important. Important to you, in particular. You're not sure how you know, but you know exactly where the tree is; somewhere higher in the hills to the south, perhaps a day's ride. You feel a strong sensation that you need to visit that place, and soon. There's no sense of danger, nothing warning you, just a sense that your presence is wanted, or commanded. You wake feeling refreshed, with the scent of the grass and the sound of birds singing lingering in your thoughts.
Strix, you decide that today is the day you will take a cart and pick up the supplies from the goblin cave. Elmer Barthen is happy to lend you Gundren's cart and doesn't ask for a fee, but he does worry for the safety of the cart, and you suppose for your safety as well. He advises you to take someone with you - do you? The journey will probably take a full day to get there and load up the cart, and almost a full day to get back.
Scupper will spend the morning making lamps in the room dance, change color, and how low he can get them before they go out. Then he wander through the store room to the pool, working the water into animated shapes and freezing them...he'll gather the couple components he needs to control a couple spells and then merrily whistle his way to town to see how everyone else is doing.
After some modest drinking mixed with a little brooding, Varinth comes to the conclusion that, maybe for the first time, he successfully adulted. He will seek out Freda and ask about a jerkin (top, shirt, thing) with embroidered flames and will pay her whatever her cost. Haggling was never in Varinths nature.
He will accompany Strix on his errand to pick up the pilfered supplies should he ask, and take Soodi should she wish to come along.

Varinth, half asleep, hungover, in shock and now surging with adrenaline, turns on the leader
WHAT. THE. ****?
OOC: Btw Scupper, if you let One Eye watch, I'm shutting down my browser and scrubbing my history ;)
The leader is clearly very scared and in a lot of pain. Ahh, shit. He tries to steady himself against a wall, looking frantically between Varinth, Strix and Dekhan, seeing how he has allowed himself to be surrounded.

Ooc : At least there was no Con roll or ranged to-hit... What, am I the only one who has rules for in their head for those scenarios?

OOC: I'm just relieved she's not an assassin.
Feeling more flummoxed than before, and wincing somewhat from the off key notes of Strixs flutage, Vaz barks;
What he said pointing at Strix How much was the second half of your payment?
Insight : 11 to see if his answer is truthful.

Yes, take advantage on the roll.
