Dekhan centers himself, reaching into the stillness within he falls into an almost meditative state. While remaining fully present he attempts to allow the calmness radiating him to envelope the owlbear and project feelings of kinship and goodwill as Strix attempts to handle the creature.
The owlbear sniffs Strix one last time, and then slowly backs away. Its attention turns back to the smell of freshly killed goblin and it moves out through the door leading west. At this point it seems to catch the scent of the outside, and you hear the rapid thump thump thump of its feet as it races out of the door you opened and into the forest. There is a bellowing roar that seems joyful, as much as an owlbear can be joyful. And with that, the creature is gone, and the castle falls quiet once again.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Varinth will stand tentatively.
"Well, that was.. interesting."
He will then enter the Owlbears former cell and give it a good search, looking for anything that would indicate the dwarf brothers were there. Bones etc..
Incantis stands, wide-eyed with shock. Eldritch beings, olde magicks, yes, but the half-elf hasn't ever reckoned with beings of bestial nature quite so fearsome. He is surprised how similar the fear is.
"Your ways have their ways, friends."He thinks to Strix and Dekhan; to Scupper and Vaz, "glad I didn't have to try talking to it..."
"Well that's our good deed of the day," he finishes aloud.

I'll take some wine too, if there's any going, adds Sildar, wiping the nervous sweat from his face. I suppose we're down to not many options. The lord or chief of this place must be close, unless there's a basement.
"So press on? Or sit tight, let think threat done, then strike? Could rest in bear's room, is unlikely spot. Just need fix door so not locked in."
Strix proactively looks for the comfiest Owlbear-pat to sit on should the party opt to lie low, then while the others mull over the next step begins spinning the feathered staff around in his hands and across his back, trying to get used to the massive reduction in inertia and momentum compared to his own much heavier staff.
I swear I'm suggesting the break for in-character reasons and not just because I recharge on short rests :D
Out of character this warlock wouldn't mind a short rest ;)
In-character Incantis is spooked of hanging around
Incantis nods at Vaz' words, taking an uncharacteristic swig from the sorcerer's wineskin. 'Surprise might e'er be in our favor, and I don't like the thought of hanging about until the greenskin inevitably get curious and poke around."

Strix, make an Animal Handling check.
Can I use my Oath of the Ancients-iness to help Strix?
No, for he is not a beast! :)
Worth a shot.

If you can think of a good way to do so, I'll give Strix advantage. What will Dekhan do?
Lol, I knew that was coming.

Looks good. Strix can roll another d20 for advantage.
If a 19 doesn't stop it what's the point?

Varinth, you find owlbear shit. A lot of owlbear shit. It's not pleasant, and it makes it hard to be in the room at all.
You do also find some bones; they seem a little small for a dwarf, more likely some small forest creature.
Strix breathes a sigh of relief, then tries to pass the smell off as Owlbear shit.

Aye see that's not a beastie. More an aberation o' the sort you don't normally go feckin' about with.
Oh good...owlbear shite...so I didn't brown me'self in the last few seconds. Vaz...you any wine left? Maybe something stronger?

Maybe they heard the roar and thought the owlbear took care of us... we may have the element of surprise again.

I think press on... could be an owlbear keeper like the one who watched the.. whatever that beak snake thing was. Unless we want to set up an ambush?
Varinth seems rather unaffected by the smell of the Owlbear excrement, growing up on a tanning farm Vaz's impressive nose is all but decoration.
Vaz passes round his wineskin that he had secreted on his back.
Yeah, as exhausted as I am I think we gotta keep going.
