After the jawbone has been thrown into the furnace and the door closed and latched, Vaz will try and find any object longer than it is wide to lodge into the handle (i.e. The old hockey stick through the door handles trick)
"ShorRy ShkuLLy!" He yells through the blocked door
If so, you find that there is a latch, and you can shut it from the outside. If you'd like to attempt to find something to help jam the small door shut, make an Investigation check, though this may take some time.
Otherwise, if you are leaving to resume your short rest, where exactly are you headed?
(thought Vaz took the jawbone off him a few posts when he got out of the water. Yeah - toss it in, pack fuel in if it's small and a quick job. If a Piton or the Spear will wedge it closed, Strix has both and will use either. There was an empty sealable room we passed in the south I think?)
If this guy works like a regular caster, we can go south, take a long rest and get back here before he regenerates (assuming it was bang on an hour last time) and has time to take a long rest, so we could potentially interrupt him - we'd be at full strength and he'd be at full health but diminished capability. The question is, will he try to hunt us down if he gets out, or is he stuck in this room unless we bring him out? One way to find out :D
Does anyone want to chance a long rest? I can't remember how long we've been here! I'm happy with Short but then I get most of my toys back on a Short rest so I would say that.
I’d be down for a long rest, we haven’t had any indication that anyone knows we’re here, right? I think facing the spider fully loaded is worth the chance.
god willing, anyone who patrols stays out of the room with the furnace on around of skully von skellingbone and we will remain undetected in our lockable room.
The rest might also give us an opportunity to figure out how to dispose of ghost rider’s head once and for all. Maybe there’s something in that book we stole from the necrodancer?
Yeah Strix would you mind going over the party stash?
As for the skull I'd be down to immolate it, but I'm sure there's more to this cave than this one furnace. I'm down to go back and rest if you guys need it!
Incantis kneels to inspect the furnace for any traces of mineral or any hints at what specifically it was used for. He contacts Zhudala. "There are two paths to the west. I trust your eyes to see and your wings to carry me aloft."He turns to the party, speaking aloud. "I am not the most spent but I wouldn't turn down a short rest. I can scout and watch guard with Zhudala, I'm just wary of the jawbone, there must be some way to destroy it."

Sorry, I've been a bit lax with the records - I accidentally ended up DMing 2 squatter campaigns since august, so I've been busy. Far as I remember there have been 2 hauls since the last divvy - post 5343, the Boots of Running and Jumping which Scupper took, and post 5474, the strong box that we looted while Dekhan was fighting a room full of skeletons.
So
Everyone gets 12GP, 18EP, 36SP, 120CP and the kitty gets nothing
Incantis, you sift around briefly in the ashes; the furnace, although massive, appears to be no different in function than any regular blacksmith's furnace, with a place to rest metal while it is being heated. It's interesting that the are no anvils or similar tools for working the metal though, at least not in this room that you can see. But the ashes are just wood and coal, nothing other than what you'd expect.
The party entered the cave in the morning, I believe, and has taken one short rest and part of another; I would say it's around midday. You can take a long rest if you wish.
Strix volunteers for 2nd shift, although if it's still within 10 minutes of the events in the wave cave, he'll swap with Scupper so he can use his Inspiration that Inky so kindly gave him? In which case add 3 to the number below :D
Meanwhile, Zhudala explores the passage directly west of the furnace; it very quickly ends in stairs down to the south towards the large cavern you have already (mostly) explored, and a closed door. Withdrawing from the area, she zips north and west, and soon comes upon another large cavern with a crevasse down the middle. She can see the far side, but has remained at the entrance and so does not have the angle to see clearly down into the crevasse. If you want her to enter the room to see more, make a Perception check for her.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Okay, so I can assume that Incantis takes third watch?
10
First, second and third watches pass by without incident.
Dekhan, only twenty minutes into your watch, you hear definite sounds from outside, a sniffing, a snarling, a low growl; you've heard these sounds before from the ghouls you fought in this cave. You hear them bumping up against the door; one appears to take a swing at it, though it shows no signs of opening.

Dekhan remains quiet and keeps one eye on the door and one eye on his companions so he can quiet them if they wake. He maintains this posture hoping the ghouls will pass without incident. He focuses on his sense of hearing and tries to determine how many are out there perception14

Does Strix toss the jawbone into the furnace?

Strix tosses the jawbone into the furnace, and Varinth and Strix use a piton to try to jam the door closed, with seeming success.
There are a few sealable rooms, mostly to the south. The nearest one would be here I suppose. Do you want to go there and rest?
That's the one!

Incantis, are you sending Zhudala to scout west?
((Yes I am, sorry if that wasn't clear. She'll start with the bottom of the two western paths))

Okay, so the party heads off to the sealable room, seals it and attempts a long rest.

Scupper takes first watch, Strix second., Zhudala scouts west; I will post a map shortly. Who's taking third and fourth watch?
