Pleased ta meet ya! Obviously it would have been nicer under better circumstances. Oh and if you are planning on a sudden but inevitable betrayal then know I will set your lovely hair on fire.
Varinth gathers his things and gets ready for battle.
Well, hopefully you can help us plan our attack on the Spider. Did anything else of pertinence occur to you during your meditations? Anything that might help us defeat the spider, thereby ensuring your survival as well?
Varinth, as you were all standing watch you didn't (I assume) close the door allowing you to see outside. As you look now, it looks much as it did during your rest, with some mildly-pecked bugbear corpses splattered around, and no sign of approaching enemies.
Dekhan, though the magic does dance faintly around your shield, you don't get the sense that anything has changed. While you know that the Forge was able in the past to create powerful magical items of all kinds, and you have witnessed an echo of that power, it otherwise seems limited to enhancing non-magical weapons to give them a brief touch of magical power.
Magic enchanting often requires precious sacrifice or expensive components. This forge might be the same. What happened with Incantus' gem? I don't think we have time to mine the metals off the ceiling...but we do have other gems.
Dekhan removes his shield. Ah well, it was worth a shot... it seems to only work for weapons, does anyone have any they want enhanced for a time? Dekhan places his javelins in the brazier.
Incantis raises his hand with the ring, now attuned to him, embedded with the gem he refined in the forge. I've got what Zhudun can offer me. I say we go to our fates.
Fully rested, the party leaves the Forge of Spells behind, and marches towards the hoped-for confrontation with the Black Spider, Nezznar. Any who wish to bathe their weapons in the magical flames of the brazier can now do so, and any weapon so treated is a +1 weapon for 12 hours.
The drow warrior Vhalak, still shackled, is driven along in front of you as you retrace your steps. You walk south, past the charred remains of the mushrooms in a large cavern; the smell of burned organic matter has faded a little. You head west, through a maze of passages before you glimpse the cave where you first entered. As you pass by, you hear yet again the loud booming echoing wave passing through the cave complex, and you have a chance to reflect on that sound - have you grown used to it? Is it starting to drive you mad with its incessant booming? Or do you barely hear it now, even if it seems to shake the cavern each time it passes through.
You head north, down a tunnel you have not yet taken, past a large pool that seems to hold no secrets. You don't encounter any enemies, either beast or undead, as you traverse this path. You pass by one or two unopened doors - Vhalak shrugs, suggesting that he and the others have never opened them. The drow moves stealthily as if by nature, and you draw no attention as you make this journey in darkness.
Finally, you stand in a large cavern with a fissure running down the middle. Incantis, you recognise this; Zhudala glimpsed this from the far eastern side, though you now stand in the western half of the area. Vhalak, unable to point with his hands chained behind his back, nods to the north and then to the west. Two ways into the Spider's Lair. Both are forbidden to us; we speak to him when he comes out, and that is all. Which one will you take?

I am not planning anything, the drow says. Then, a little ruefully: I am not skilled at planning, as you all witnessed some hours past, no?
Well, hopefully you can help us plan our attack on the Spider. Did anything else of pertinence occur to you during your meditations? Anything that might help us defeat the spider, thereby ensuring your survival as well?
And Nezznar is the Spider's real name?
Nothing else has occurred to me, says the drow.
(Yes, the drow has told you that Nezznar is the Spider's name.)
Well, shall we go? Evil Masterminds ain't gunna defeat themselves.
Varinth listens at the door before opening it.

Dekhan places his shield in the brazier
We should imbue anything we can with the forge’s magic before we head out.Varinth, as you were all standing watch you didn't (I assume) close the door allowing you to see outside. Dekhan, the Forge's magic soaks into each javelin, turning it temporarily into a +1 weapon.
I'll upgrade me rapier if it helps in the coming shite storm. I'm guessing me bow wouldn't be magicked but clearly I'm outta me depth.
The magic works on Scupper's rapier. Does he try with his shortbow?
Let me know when you're ready to head out. Following the drow to Nezznar's lair, right?
In the spirit of always being prepared Dekhan runs his hand axes and spear through the magical flame as well.
Incantis raises his hand with the ring, now attuned to him, embedded with the gem he refined in the forge. I've got what Zhudun can offer me. I say we go to our fates.
Incantis, half-elf warlock (great old one) 4/bard 1 ● Thorok Earthhand, hill dwarf mountain druid 6/grave cleric 2
Cragmyre Ironseed, earth genasi ancestral barbarian 3 ● Cyrus Natriallae, aquatic half-elf warlock of the deep 3
Dekhan, all your non-magical weapons are now +1 weapons, for the next 12 hours.
Let's do this. Varinth intones in his best Action Hero Voice. It cracked a little on the word do but he still thinks it sounded cool.

((Should we free Vhalek? Maybe he’d be an asset in the fight if he knows killing the spider is good for him...))
