"Nothing useful on this lot." Idalie replies, tucking the few coins she found away and stepping back from the bodies. "And the goblin we spared outside did say that they were going to sacrifice the girl to their god. I'd say a ritual brazier is definitely in line with that sort of thing. I just hope we aren't too late." Looks over at Brom when Nate questions him, curious to what the wall carvings signify as well.

"I found a few cracks in the wall behind the vines" Brom grumbled and started to think, while he did he picked up one of the goblin's short bow and tested the string. He could use a bow but seeing how his team has ranged attacks in spades he decided against and looked at his hammer then he got an idea. He went back to the wall with the vines and ripped them off to expose the wall underneath. "If theres a path behind this wall i think i can knock it down" he shared his idea with the team

Omnia goes and inspect the North Wall, Hey guys i found some carvings over here, looks like some sort of battles one of them, the knights are shown defeating what appears to be an army of Goblins, led by a particularly vicious looking, larger Goblin. The next carving shows the knights standing victorious over a field of dead Goblin bodies. Looks like some sort of dragon terrorizing villagers but the knights win in the end. Looks like the knights are all wearing the same uniform with matching insignia on their armor and shields.
Looks like there is a leader of somesort further along the wall with writting with the name 'Sextus Varius'. Next to him, there is a further inscription that reads as follows:
"I pledge to serve law, protect the innocent, battle the agents of chaos, and never reveal the secrets of the Delian Order. My word is my bond, my life and honor is for the order, for this night and all nights to come."
what do we think guys preety awesome artwork but i am sure there is a deeper meaning here
(Brom smashes his hammer into the wall, crumbling rock and revealing what would have been an easily opened door. The party gathers their bearings and proceeds forward.
Before you is a very large room that seems to have been carved out of a cave. The walls are natural rocks, dark gray, with 20 foot ceilings. About 20 feet in there is a huge chasm, over which a narrow stone bridge connects this edge to another edge about 100 feet away. The bridge is about 5 feet wide and looks pretty sturdy, so you all could probably all cross it at once if you all went in a line. )
Spoiler for Brom and Idalie:
You're pretty mesmerized by the depth of the chasm, so you're not paying much attention to anything else.
Spoiler for Omnia:
The bridge seems sturdy, so you're not worried about crossing it. The stonework seems pretty good. Nobody else appears to be waiting for you all on the other side.
Spoiler for Quinn and Nate:
The bridge seems sturdy, so you're not worried about crossing it. The stonework seems pretty good. Nobody else appears to be waiting for you all on the other side.
As you inspect the bridge, you notice that about halfway across, there is a part of the bridge that looks just a little bit difference than the rest. It's kind of far away, but you can tell it's a very slightly raised plate, about 10 feet across, long enough so you couldn't really jump over it unless you were very, very athletic. As you look around a little more, you see up on the ceiling a long, thin slit.
"Yeah!" Exclaims Nate in an almost childlike manor as Brom wrecks the wall. He looks in awe at the vast chasm and does not have a good feeling about it.
Nate thinks for a moment about the carvings in the other room that Omnia mentions. He agrees with her in that they most likely mean something, but from her explanation and description and his own glace he just can't put it together.
"I agree with Quinn. I haven't been on this earth for very long but I know a trap when I see one. I don't think we should try and cross that bridge unless someone wants to take a shot at disarming that trap. Oh, and there is DEFINITELY something up THERE (points to ceiling)."
Nate will try and climb up the side of the wall in hopes that he can find some footing on the rock/cave walls to get closer to the long slit in the ceiling that Quinn and him see to perhaps get more information about it (ie. is there a lot of light coming out? how long is it? is it an alternate way across?)
Strength Check for the climb: 4
Investigation Check for the slit investigation from a closer location if the climb works: 7
"Woah." Idalie looks into the new chamber wonderingly, impressed by Brom's strength yes, but also wondering where this new discovery will lead them. Hoping it's a quicker route to the farmer's daughter though neither the chasm nor the bridge offer any kind of comfort beyond another obstacle to overcome. The gnome's head tilting questioningly as Quinn and Nate say they should avoid both and take some sort of route across via...the ceiling? She glances up, eyeing the climb. Uncertain if it's one they'll all be able to make. Not that the possible difficulty seems to deter Nate any. The human making straight for the nearest wall and beginning the attempt. Is distracted from tracking his progress by the sounds of Omnia dragging her feet just behind her. Idalie turning to the woman as she hovers at the entryway of the newly discovered cavern. Gaze turned back the way they'd come, eyes on the carvings she'd found and described.
"Those carvings do seem important." She said. "They speak to whoever these caverns used to belong to, before these goblins came along. What did the carvings say they were called again? The Delian Order?" Wracking her brain, Idalie tries to remember if she ever read or heard anything about this order over the course of her studies with the Druid at her temple.
"I Don't think those carvings really mean anything. The goblin we interigated said their goal was to revive some sort of mega goblin. Im not a betting man but I'll put money that, that wicked looking goblin in the carving is the same one they are aiming to revive"
(Idalie racks her brain trying to remember if she's ever heard of the Delian Order, but doesn't recall anything.)
(Nate tries to see if he can scale the walls, but they go pretty straight up and are about 20 feet high. He only manages to get about 8 feet up before sliding back down.)
DMs note: I just want to make sure I described this right. The ceiling is flat except for a long, thin line a couple of inches long. It's not a bridge or anything, just a crevice in the ceiling. As far as how to proceed, I'm sure you guys will figure something out. :)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Nate slides back down the wall.
"Well... that didn't work. I think the only way across is by using the bridge.... let me take a look at that raised plate to see what we might be dealing with. Can you all see it? It's right there about halfway across the bridge. Quinn, you can see it right? I'm going to check it out. If this is the last time I see you all - it was nice knowing you!"
Nate will slowly walk along the bridge until he gets close to the raised plate and check it out. (NOT trying to disarm it... just gathering information about it).
"We are safe. For the time being. I don't hear anything coming and I feel no one heard our scuffle with those dead goblins."
"Brom - you find anything on that wall? I'm drawn to those vines for some reason...."
"Nothing useful on this lot." Idalie replies, tucking the few coins she found away and stepping back from the bodies. "And the goblin we spared outside did say that they were going to sacrifice the girl to their god. I'd say a ritual brazier is definitely in line with that sort of thing. Nate has been in awe of Brom's physical stature since they all met in the Tavern, and even more so in this moment.
"...he's going to knock the wall down?!" Nate thought to himself.
He looked at Brom and said "HAVE AT IT!" with excitement.

She looks I to the newley discovered room.
That bridge looks solid enough and can't see anyone the other side so yeah we could go across it.

Quinn steps back as he watches Brom easily crumble the wall to reveal a bridge.
"Now that was impressive!" Quinn exclaimed padding him on the shoulder.
Quinn walks with the group to edge of the bridge and takes a look around.
"Do you guys see that raised part on the bridge? I don't think it's a good idea to cross that way."
Quinn continues to look around.
"There is away across up there." Quinn says pointing up to the ceiling.
"We just need a way to get up there... any ideas?"
