The otherworldly Asian girl with her strange tattoos gets some odd looks from the mundanes, and more still for her morbid line of questions. She distinctly hears one of the girls mutter "stervyatnik", but her charms make light work of the boys.
"Ah, yes," one replies hesitantly, "that was up close to Kalininsky, south of the hospital. Off of Piskarovskiy Prospekt."
The paladin glares at the little meangirl who insulted Ling. Swaggering over to their little clique, Alaris smiles sweetly and makes eye contact with each.
"Vulture, eh? I've been working on my conversational Russian. How do these work?"Alaris looks from one to the next with a word for each.
"Durak?" "Slaboumnyy?" "Kretin?"
Saving the best for last, the shadowhunter grins widely at the girl who spoke up and carefully enunciates, "Derevenskiy durachok?"

The girl opens her mouth at Alaris in a demonstration of mock shock, glances at her two cronies, and the trio flounce out of the bakery with their paper bags of food. The boys hesitate as they watch them go, but then hurry after. One gives Ling an apologetic smile before following suite.
"Well that was mean - they didn't offer any advice on how to improve my Russian!"

"You're something else." he says with a chuckle at Alaris. He sits down with his sandwich and coffee and begins to eat. "So know we know where it is. We can glamour up and slip in, no problem."
Ling smiles at the guy who gave her the information and then snickers when Alaris breaks out their string of curses. As the group of mundanes leaves, she wraps an arm around Alaris' shoulder: "That's obviously because your Russian is perfect!" Satisfied with her information gathering, she returns her attention to the matter at hand: food. Mouth stuffed to the brim, Ling nods at Caio and Nik and mumbles: "Mhhm yef fodaly, phe good fo go!"
Once the group finishes their food, Ling actives her invisibility rune and navigates to the given location with her phone.
It only takes half an hour to ride out west to Piskarovskiy Prospekt. This side of the district is home to some nicer rows of old townhouses. The streets are lined with pretty trees that have white bark and purple flowers.
Ling stares at her phone intensely and navigates the group through to the hospital. When they arrive, she pulls up the article she found earlier and takes another look at the picture of the house. Looking around, she meanders through a few streets until stopping at one that seems to match and - there it is! The 19th-century townhouse looks like it would cost a fortune and the garden is maintained to perfect. In fact, there is a young man working in it right now. He looks to be in his late teens or early twenties.
Before they get too close, Ling points out the house to the others. "That must be the one! What do you think, shall we take a closer look?"
Nikolai smiles and rubs his hands together. "Absolutely! Perhaps I should take the part of a tour guide showing some foreigners around a few of the more quaint local residences?"
Ling is always up for some acting and smoothly replies: "你好,我是新来的" (Nǐ hǎo, wǒ shì xīn lái de! Hello, I'm new here!)
She moves to stand behind Nikolai and gets out her phone, holding it up as if she is a Chinese tourists taking pictures of everything on her once-in-a-lifetime trip to Europe.
"This tour has been very disappointing," Alaris groans in their best back-home accent. "So many people speaking Russian... can't get a decent 7am pint... and it's been cold EVERY DAY. The brochure never said anything about cold."

Nikolai takes a moment to crack his neck and roll his shoulders, before putting on his best smile as he begins 'directing' the tourists towards the large home, speaking in English as he does. "Here we have some of the more quaint, older buildings of the District here. These homes are usually off limits, but I know some folks who know some folks and they arranged for a 'special' tour. Just a moment..." He walks up towards the gardener at a brisk pace, switching to Russian and looking very much like he belongs here. "Excellent! We are not late. My goodman, we are here for the tour. Quickly now, pop to it, lad! Yes, that's it." He gives the young man a very impatient look, rising his eyebrows in expectation. "Come now! I haven't got all day!"
Ling, loving her role of Chinese oligarch, saunters up to the gardener. She moves as if to shake his hand, and places a 3,000 ruble bill in his hand. "I think there is now." She glances over her shoulder at Alaris, who is standing behind her with their arms crossed menacingly. "Right?" With a big smile, she winks at him and walks on past the garden gate, waving for her friends to follow her.
The gardener eyes the large banknote hungrily and snatches it away as soon as Ling produces it. Faster than she can follow he has hidden it away somewhere on his person.
"Have fun on the tour", he wishes her, as he turns back to his flowers.
The front door opens when the handle is turned, although inside the door police tape still marks the interior of the building as a crime scene. A hallway leads away back into the depths of the house and besides it a steep staircase runs up to the next level. A single door is to the right before the staircase.
The house clearly comes from old money, with dark wood panelling, red patterned carpeting and stucco rendered ceilings.
Nikolai nods to the man and begins leading the group into the home. “Someone keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn’t run off as soon as we are inside. Also, perhaps it would have been better for you all to have remain hidden from sight while I got into the residence. Less people makes it easier to move. Just something to think about in the future.”
Ling grins: "Sure, it would have been easier, but this is so much more fun!" She quickly checks her demonic detector, but it remains quiet as they enter the house. Looking around, she whistles quietly: "Fancy place. Shall we check out downstairs first?"
"Yes, but one Russian making their way into a strange house alone might be memorable. A gaggle of foreign tourists? We all look the same."
As they move into the home, Alaris tugs their stele from an inside pocket of their coat and draws a rune of Divine Sense. The paladin falls still and silent, opening their senses to whatever presence may be lurking nearby.
