A huge scythe swings out from the ceiling arcing towards the players. Earthhand calls upon some strange well of dwarven agility and cartwheels out of the way with a grunt, Ackam manages to move mostly out of the way at the last second, the blade scoring a shallow cut across his upper back, 5 Aedra also gets mostly out of the way, but the blade still slices through her robe and into her shoulder 4 Agency throws herself back and to the side taking a nick to the ribs 3 Varris manages to fall backwards so that the blade passes millimeters from his nose but slices only some of the hairs from his beard, giving it an interesting forked look. And Bastion 20 bends backwards at the knees laying his body out perpendicular to the stone floor as the blade passes harmlessly over it. Bastion pops back up to vertical and turns to see the blade detach from the mechanism and fall to the floor.
Inside the chest you find 2400 copper, 1300 silver, and 1000 gold pieces, a bag containing nine gems of various shapes and colors, a strange looking with a spider carved on the tip, a small set of seemingly wooden pan pipes, a pair of gloves attached to thin leather gauntlets, and the exquisitely wrought bow.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Varris stands up and dusts himself off with a few shakes of his robes. Placing his hands on his face to wipe the dirt off his forehead, he takes a moment when he feels a good portion of his beard missing that would have previously covered his chin.
After getting over the shock of losing his beard he calls out: well....that was unexpected, is everyone in one piece?
He then approaches the chest and sees if he can discern any information about the magical items:
There is more to that longbow, that I know for a fact, it appears to be of Fey make and this platinum inlay tells me that it was made for royalty... we should take this to a historian or arcanist when we have the opportunity. Mikkael marvels at the craftsmanship for a moment longer and hands the bow back to Varris Does anyone have training with a longbow?
Bastion you now have essentially a Halberd with a metal haft topped with a curving blade that is brutal in it's efficiency balanced on the other side with a curved hook that you assume was what held the blade in check before the trap was sprung.
Agency, I put the Dagger of False Death in your inventory. The Gloves of Missile Snaring would interfere with the Bracelets of Karr'Idon, though, so it's one or the other, I'm afraid.
Ackam scratches his wound from the scythe and while pulling up his pants goes over and looks inside the treasure chest. "Gods be damned, we got ourselves a mighty nice haul. Bastion me lad, let's load you up with the coins." Ackam goes about helping Bastion collecting the all the coins and placing them into the mechanized creature. Ackam them walks back over to the chest and looking at the magical gloves says, "I wouldn't mind me wearing those nifty looking gloves, if not one rejects?"
Ackam, I don't reject, but might I ask if there could be value in me wearing those gloves? I find myself standing in the back of the fray with great frequency making ranged attacks more likely. Similarly, while I am blessed by Mishkal with many things, great constitution is not one of those and since I have no knowledge of armoring it is rare for me to find some sort of protection Ican make use of. I am also surprisingly dexterous for a priest. Alternatively, I could use that wand since I don't find myself concentrating frequently on maintaining spells. What do you think?
I have 14 max hp and no proficiency in any type of armor. With my +4 dex, I think those gloves could theoretically stop me from getting one shot by an errant arrow.
Dammit. I got a hole in my robes. She mumbles, way more upset about that than the scratch on her shoulder. Aedra goes over to the chest and picks up the gloves and wand. She walks over to Varris and presents them proudly, as if she made them herself.
"Wand or gloves seems fair ter me, 'specially what with teh rest o' us ha'eing some sort o' magickal treasures 'scept Varnish. Why don' we dicker o'er teh loot on teh way? Teh droo aen vampires dinnae disappear jus' 'cause we found some trinkets."

Ackam thinks about what Varris had to say and then thinking about it just shrugs his shoulders, "no skin off me shoulder. Sure, Varris, you can have de gloves. Anyways, they don't go with my outfit anyhow," Ackam says with a smile. He then starts to make his way out of secret room. "I guess we should be movin' deeper into the belly of dis beast."
Many thanks, friend - arrows never agreed with me much anyhow. Might we take a short rest to allow a few of us to regain some health and allow attunement to these magical items?
I would hope Stormy helps with that a little bit, happy to use my animal shape to contribute :)
"Oi wouldn't say nay ter a short rest, but is it safe? Oi'd also be happy ter take teh wand o' web as it seems summat Oi'cd make use of, but Oi've already claimed teh pipes." Earthhand plays a nonmagical jaunty little tune on his new panflute to test it out. "Ooh hmmm, loverleh timbre. Oi'cd claim teh wand as well if no one be wantin' it, but Oi'cd see it bein' o' good use in teh hands o' Bastion or Mikkael as well."

Arcana: 9
(pardon the ugliness, on mobile)
BASTION picks up the large blade and while the group examines the loot - straps it onto his back.
Mikkael comes over to aid Varris in his study of the magic items and between the two of them they discover that they've found a wand of web, a set of Pipes of Haunting, a set of Gloves of Missile Snaring, and a longbow +1.

Agency examines the gauntlets and checks with the others if they can discern anything from it.
BTW i have that sleeping dagger from before. Any chance you can do up an item for me?
"Can' say Oi'cn use teh bow, but Oi'm decent wit' teh pan flute." Earthhand says. (He is proficient with the pan flute)

Would the gloves count as light armor or just clothing?
Just as clothing/hand wear.

Though the weight of coins is substantial - it feels like nothing compared to the general existential weight BASTION carries every day.
