Strife, this is before you purchased your supplies.
You creep up to the corner and press yourself against the side of a building as a crow bursts through a shattered window above you, loudly protesting your proximity to its nest. The crow flies away, but the sounds of struggle continue. You peek around the edge of the building and see two forms struggling in the dark alleyway.
Form #1 appears to be grappling with #2, who appears to be trying to escape. They don't appear to have noticed you yet. A rough man's voice rings out "Stop yer strugglin' and cryin'! Yer only makin' this worse!" the female voice then cries out "NO! Leave me alone! HELP!" It's hard to make out their appearance in the darkened alley as they struggle, but the victim is clearly much smaller than the aggressor. You see a small, black-cloaked figure struggling against a larger brown clothed figure.
Vappa, you and Strife are in the same general area but separated by a few city blocks. Go ahead and make a perception check to see if you hear or notice anything.
Vappa, the sights and sounds of downtown Waterdeep are pretty intense. You just barely hear what sounds like an anguished cry and whip your head around. Behind you, a young boy is tugging on his mother's robes and appears to be throwing a tantrum as they pass a Gnome selling whirring trinkets and toys. The mother ushers the boy along and they continue down the street. You start to make your way toward the Dock Ward again, not wholly convinced that the boy was the source of the cry you heard. Then, you see two rough looking men hurrying into a dark alley across the street. Make an insight check to see what your gut tells you.
Strife would slowly emerge from around the corner, the small hooded kobold would make his way into the middle of the alley "He...hey... hey!... you!.. you leave her alone!" He would slowly blurt out, struggling to hide the fear in his voice. (moving to G12 in the middle of the alley)
(So the player ME wanted to just launch a firebolt or cast bonefire on the guy while I was out of sight when he wasn't expecting it.. but the RP Character me wouldn't be so fast to attack lol.... and that is how Strife dies... before ever getting to buy anything nice :D )
Vappa, your gut tells you the cry you heard and these scummy looking individuals are related. You think about the new nest you wanted to build with the money you hope to earn with the expedition... Torn between helping someone in need and reporting to the Misty Matron on time, you make up your mind with a sigh and a curse, then follow the two men down the alley.
Strife, you try to stand tall and appear unafraid as you step into the alley and approach the struggle. At your approach, the two separate and face you. You're surprised to discover the smaller figure reveal itself to be a Kenku in black robes. The larger figure is a rough looking human male in leather armor. The man says "Heh, works every time eh Glass?". The Kenku opens its beak and you hear the same woman's cry from before "NO! Leave me alone! HELP!". The Kenku then erupts into the laughter of a snotty sounding woman before saying "Ain't too smart izee?" in the voice of an old man and draws a shortsword. The Thug in the leather armor then says "Give me the token you got from LaTiffe and die quick. Fight, and die slow." And a crossbow quarrel slams into the ground at your feet. You turn and see a Bandit on the roof behind you. You also hear the footfalls of others approaching from whence you came.
Strife, roll for initiative!

(Strife wasn't heading to the ship at all. He was looking to buy equipment before heading to the ship. He is a poor street urchin kobold that has literally dug through piles of crap in the sewers just to pull out old pieces of scrap he could trade for some copper coin. He was excited to buy some nice things.)
Agamemnon, Lady Susanne, and Seldor, you aren't close enough to the encounter to make a difference, but you all did manage to find each other and regroup on the way to the Dock Ward.
Vappa, you follow the two men into the alley. As you turn a corner you see one of them just pulling himself into the roof of a nearby building. He grunts as he swings his leg over the edge and stands. He then begins running along the roof. The other man is running down the alley heading away from you and disappears around a corner. You hear a woman's cries for help and they sound nearer than before.
Vappa, who do you follow? The man on the roof or the man in the alley? Neither have noticed you thanks to your stealth check.
OOC: I'm at work and won't be able to reply 'til later tonight. 10ish central time.
Seldor, dressed in a fine set of new clothes and a little tipsy from the half-empty bottle of wine clutched in your hand, you saunter down another busy Waterdhavian street. You look great and you feel great. The wine's caused a nice warm glow to emanate from your stomach and the sun's shining without a cloud in sight. The people you pass are polite and smile at you as you continue on your way. Suddenly a shadow passes over you and you feel a WHOOSH as a Griffin Rider of the City Watch lands his majestic mount on the sidewalk in front of you. He climbs off the beast and looks anxiously around. Spotting you, he hurries over to you and asks "Sir, could you watch my griffon as I use the facilities? I've REALLY gotta go!" and he thrusts the reins in your direction. What do you do?
OOC: I managed to get the night off. I'll be off and on 'til about 9pm central.

(Agamemnon was headed for the docks last time I posted. I'm not sure where that is located in relation to the fight.)
Flayr Flameseeker | Genasi/Fire | Wizard/School of Evocation | Level 2 | Custom Campaign: Cold Cash
OOC: Lady Susanne would also be heading to the ship by now from the temple of Tyr.
"Well... Shit...." The kobold would mutter taking a step backwards. Strife initiative!6 (well that is real bad... crap crap crap!)
OOC: Seldor is also heading towards the docks. Maybe Susanne and Agamemnon are helping him get there, since he is less than sober at this moment.

(I'd say at this point Vappa will try to sneak up to Bandit 2)
