The rain breaks for a moment as you approach the docks. The water of Lac Dynnegall is ink-like with the reflection of the clouds above, lapping cumbersomely at the shore where clumps of silver kryne have been tossed out by the tide. Tips of kryne bushes peak out of the water to let their silver leaves billow and whip in the breeze.
With the rain breaking, the water is beginning to still, and between the ripples of raindrops, you can see the reflections of decrepit and featureless humanoids wading in the shallows. The reflections turn their gaping face and lifeless eyes towards you, seizing your gaze. The rain starts up again, shattering the reflections.
Along the shore are harvesting tools, scattered on the ground. Next to a nearby hand plow is a tome.
(With the rain coming down, the hand mirrors will not be reliable. Think of a car windshield during a downpour without the wipers moving.)

The creatures are invisible, but can they be seen because the rain is hitting them and the water is running on them? Especially now that they are in the lake, can we see where their legs are in the water?
The creatures are invisible, but can they be seen because the rain is hitting them and the water is running on them? Especially now that they are in the lake, can we see where their legs are in the water?
(The wading into the lake would considered difficult terrain. Between the rain and the lake water, you would have an idea of where to aim, but it would still be with disadvantage. It is almost nightfall, so it is not so easy to see in the dimming light.)
OOC > How far away would you say the creatures we saw were, when we could see their reflections?
(About 15' into the water and another 30' along the shoreline. Since they are wading in the mud and you are on solid ground, you have a chance to get away.)

"This feels like a fool's errand," Hildigrim says. "I suggest we find shelter for the night and deal with these in more-favorable circumstances. At least out of the rain," he says, shaking water droplets from his mirror.
Jorin, usually looking for flights, agrees with Hildi, "This place, it is unnatural, and it is getting to me. A night's rest and an ale from the tavern stores will set me right."
"They do seem to stay at the task they have stolen from those who were living. Let us hope none of them frequented the library at night." Quillary will retreat with the rest back to the library. Unless, of course, Seren has an issue with this course of action. Which she may.

Hildi hurriedly grabs the book, before booking from the brook.
Jorin, Drusk, and Seren try transferring the mirrors from the inn to the library before it gets dark. They will be able to get the full-length mirror and 3 of the half-length mirrors.
Pascal gets a brazier of coals going in the library (but away from anything flammable). It will help with the room lighting, and for cooking a quick snack.
Quillary and Hildigrim look over the acquired book. (Everyone can look at the "spoiler".)
It’s bound in black and titled: "Arcane Glimpses to Simplify Everyday Woes with Frost and More" by Bivae Ixuluwix.

Jorin looks approvingly at the brazer of coals. "I think i shall dash over to the store house where the barrels of ale were. I'll roll one over so we can have drink with our evening's meal. Anyone want to come with me?"
Jorin will pause for a moment to see if anyone else is interested before heading over to the other building.
(The four books that you found, that had AN writing on the flyleaf, are all of similar dimensions, and will fit in the grooves on the shelf.)
