As the Lizardfolk begin their grim work, blood oozes onto the ground, the smell heavy, and heady but not horrible. The scaled-leather of the tyrannosaur proves difficult to cut through, but eventually gives way once enough force is applied, though it's difficult going. It takes atleast two hours for the harvesting of various things to finish. Once all is said and done, with Truk, and Era cutting off, or out a few specific pieces of the rex.
25
A lot of the meat is far too stringy and muscly to eat, however, a few choice chunks of edible meat just below the skin-layer are found, providing a little more than twenty-eight pounds (one day per LB/divided by each person) of meat that could be eaten without breaking ones jaw or teeth out in the effort. The lizardfolk are able to make a few makeshift weapons. Using the arms of the rex, they are able to make two total bone-clubs. Using the ribs, they are able to fashion together, using broken chunks of the rubs, a total of three shields that can't block 'piercing' attacks, but work perfectly fine for all other non-magical damage (+1 shields except vs piercing). (I will make these for you later)
The tooth and claw Truk take, look mighty fine indeed.. sharp... dangerous.... The tooth that Era takes looks very similar... with a little extra effort effort these could be fashioned into +1 daggers (claws) or +2 arrows, one per tooth. (teeth)
Truk points out that fact, that these teeth and claws could make some excellent weapons if the Lizardfolk would be so obliged.... Burgee says, he'd like to once again head back to camp, saying he'd take the slaves with him to help guard, unless any weren't willing to go with him. But we do need to guard the camp... lest it be found..... the voice of an old war veteran echoing like sawdust. Truk offers to go with whoever to visit the Gnome.. to find out if this was truly a trick, or if he was held hostage, or.. whatever the case was. So who will be going to the Gnomes place then? And who will be returning with Burgee?
When it became clear none intended to move on immediately while the rest harvested, Gustav merely glanced in their direction once and no more. He had said his piece, and could not be bothered to speak save to guide the harvesting effort. Even the news when delivered about the nature of things failed to turn him from a more taciturn and focused mindset. Feeling a little left out in Gustav's plan, Nin took to keeping watch for any danger. Even if that largely meant finding shade, and lightly dozing from time to time with a crossbow in hand.
At the hour mark, a long since recovered Wonder turned towards helping in harvesting. Even if her help was ultimately relegated to partitioning and wrapping up the meat chunks so that by the end everyone (former slaves included) could add 4 days worth of meat rations to their packs. Gustav, Wonder, and surprisingly Ka abstained from taking any unless its forced on them. Both Tabaxi site in their own way not being strong enough to carry much more, and Ka simply wished to follow Gustav's example.
At Truk's request, the two lizardfolk share a long look with each other. Not a word goes between them. But afterwards, they turn as one and half growls and hisses something before returning to work finishing harvesting with whatever aid others provide. Gustav just chuckles at something. In glancing over, he smirks and says, "The say they'll need some time to work on them all proper like. At least if you want to get the most out of those. Not too much. Maybe another few hours, or even a day."He shrugs. "You would best leave those with them if your going along to the gnome place." This time as Gustav mentions the gnomes, the anger behind his mood is gone. This time he appeared to be more... neutral, if anything.
"Burgee. If you would take back our comrades and whatever else's been harvested back to camp to keep guard." He motions to the former slaves, yet leaves Wonder out of the sweeping gesture. "If anything /else/ goes wrong, I'm sure Windy here can send one of her speedy messengers to you to deliver it... Plus, less chance of any accidental fires starting. Unless you object, young Era?"He asks of her. Once he had his answer, Gustav leads (or follows as the case may be) Truk, Era, and Wonder through the hole made by the Goliath. Things are touch and go as Wonder insists on being as far away from the goliath as possible to the point of holding on from under Gustav if any crawling through is necessary. But other than that, once the group is out the other side, Gustav keeps a hand close to Rosebud, during trip to the gnome house.
If given the bone weapons to further refine, Gus and Ka work on this while people were out looking for gnomes.

"No objections here!" Era chirps as she wipes some ash from Minos' fur, the minotaur looking less than amused. "Stay safe, okay? All of you! Burgee is in charge unless he dies," Her look goes dark as her voice lowers to that of a whisper. "Which if he dies, I will personally slit your throats while you're all sleeping." Era returns back to her normal happy demeanor with a big smile as if nothing had happened. "Buddy system!" The genasi watches the others make their way back to their new base camp until she can't see them any more and joins the others through the hole Truk had made.
"Okey, so, Hermes said it's a few feet thata-way!" She points down the way. "Then again, a few feet to him is, like, four hundred! So just keep your eyes out, yeah?" Era grins while she starts walking the direction.

Burgee compliments Mino's as they all start heading back to the camp, the lizardfolk lugging some spare 'parts' to continue their refinement. A few strips of skin also being taken, as the lizardfolk noticed the fine quality.. could be turned into some fine (+1) leathers, able to get atleast two sets of it, given the time. Burgee and the slaves trip back is uneventful, luckily. They make it back, and begin about their work. Mino's and burgee talking about spells, and how Burgee is curious that a minotaur would choose magecraft as a life-path... though obviously making sure his words didn't come off as insulting.. or atleast trying.
Within the web-dome, Truk, Era, and Gustav (and Wonder too!) all notice the webs seem to be relegated to the canopy, unlike at the edge, where it draped like a curtain... this seemed almost intentional, like a forcefeild. At the top of some of the webs were wrapped shadows, every couple hundred feet or so, occasionally one was still squirming, It's shadow bobbing in the sun against the ground as the trapped creature struggles to get free of the strong webbing. Just as everyone see's this though, they all notice the cabin isn't that far ahead. Though they notice the cabin seems to be wrapped with webbing leading to the canopy-webbing.. and the ground around the cabin is covered in silken strands about sixty feet around it. The spider still resting on the top of the house seems idle, and is bobbing softly, but inexorably, like daddy longlegs sometimes do.

Era didn't like the area they were in, not one bit, hiding primarily behind Truk as some sort of a meat shield in case someone shot out at them. Though, as they approached the hut unbothered, it made Era's stomach churn in uncertainty. This is too easy...She thinks even as her eyes gaze upon the idling spider. Maybe I was wrong? The genasi slowly approaches the door of the hut as silently as she possibly could, and leans against the door to see if she could possibly hear anything.

Gustav didn't like the area any more than Era. Not even a little. Both aged and young Tabaxi scowled at the whole mess, but kept off to the side of Truk instead of behind. He scans the perimeter for any signs of weakness in the force field of webs about the canopy with Wonder's assistance as usual. If aside from the webbing along the ground accessing the front porch of the cabin proved easy enough, he creeps(Wonder back on his back) after Era who'd gone at least a short ways ahead, finding whatever patches of webbing seemed less likely to draw any spiders, hidden or otherwise, to the spot from prey-like vibrations.
If there able to get to the door untroubled, Gustav waits until Era' gives her report of hearing anything.
Perception: 8(didn't include adv. Roll from Wonder. Roll is at bottom)
A hot breeze blew through the area, is was simultaneously comforting, and annoying as most summer winds tend to be. The spider seemed to relax in the warmth, enjoying it. As Gustav scans the tree-tops, he does occasionally see an elongated hole, here or there, with either thin, or no strands, but they were in the gaps between the tree's. Essentially, it was like being in a dome of sticky silk. Luckily the webbing all seemed to be located at the camopies, and between them, and other than the webbing on the ground surrounding the house, like some sick pillar, freedom of movement wasn't restricted. Truk advances cautiously.... (18) being quite silent, and soft of step for one so large as he approached, stopping just short of the webbing upon the ground.
Era can see smoke beginning to rise from one of the chimneys that smelled of meat-pies, and sweetrolls. Though she does make some noise as she moves, it's not nearly enough to alert the spider, or betray her presence. As she strains her ears, she can just barely make out bits of conversation, talking about how 'good dinner was going to be' and how they would have to head into town soon to sell more of their silken wares. Also... we need to get more bait traps to keep the spiders fed.. Priscilla had a nest of broodlings and they'll need to be fed too... but beyond this, she is unable to hear any more.. whether it was because they had gone quieter, or just had simply nothing more to say, she couldn't be sure. Regardless, they seemed entirely unaware of the parties presence. (Acrobatics Check: 8) it seemed, however that along the way, Era had tapped the edge of her heels, when stepping over the webbing on the ground, that covered it like a mine field, and the spider on the house, was slowly, approaching from above (Spider-Stealth: 18) Despite the spiders best efforts, Era, as she pulled her ear back from the door, noticed it coming down. (Spider perception: 19) the spider has no clue where Gustav or wonder are, but it is vaguely aware of Truk.... Realizing it's outnumbered, it recoils, letting out a loud, whistling screech. A lot of banging can be heard inside, from some likely panicked Gnomes.
After a moment or two, a male and female gnome, both apparently wizards or mages of some sort, staves at the ready come out. W-Who goes T-there?! one of the gnomes cries out, the spider taking a defensive position over the gnomes, providing them both half-cover with it's legs as the Gnomes look around in confusion, spotting Era first W-We don't want any trouble! Please, just leave peacefully, we D-don't want to be forced to hurt y-you!
Truk looks between Gustav and Era, unsure how they want to handle this...
Truk looks down at the little folks. They probably come up to his mid thigh. He smiles "I don't think any of us would like to be hurt by you. We just had a run in with a giant lizard that walked on 2 legs. Frightful thing..."
Not really knowing what else to do he says "I'm Truk. We're new on the island. I came because I heard there were some folks in trouble here and came to help. You two don't seem like you're in trouble though." He lets out a laugh. "Id say with those spiders around your quite safe"
"How fortunate for them." Gustav deadpans, and after a few seconds steps fully into view from off the sides. "Gnomes. Almost hoped my eyes had failed me, and it was a halfling that seemed to 'cry' for help. Would've felt a little less..."But he trailed off there, gritting his teeth behind closed lips. Wonder is much less guarded about her emotions, and openly glares at both gnomes and spider. The instant the spider looks in her direction however, she ducks further behind Gustav shoulder and mewls worriedly.
"The name of Gustav. And no, we aren't escaped slaves, in case somehow that was your next thought. We're new here, actually. Unfortunate victims of misinformation and, in hindsight, much poorer research than originally thought. But, C'est la vie." He says, switching briefly to an undercommon phrase before letting out a mirthless chuckle. "We would have words with you both to amend certain issues. It is our hope, you will be amendable to this. If not, we will leave, but ask that in the future you decide to use live bait, perhaps not make a humanoid? Less chance of some other poor soul finding themselves running afoul of danger needlessly."

Era raises an eyebrow at the sight of the gnomes, their works coming out shaky despite having a large spider loom over them, ready to strike if the situation escalated further. At most, the genasi rose her hands in feigned surrender, but allowed Gustav and Truk to do the talking while she kept silent and eyed the spider, her eyes glancing to the gnomes every now and again as she listens to them speak.
((Era will be using her Passive Insight 16 to see if what the gnomes are saying is true and of good intention))

At the House that Gnomes Built
As you all got a better look at the house, its the slightly larger than the size of any normal humanoids house... but is split into three stories.... meaning the house is actually Gnome-Sized within. Truk would have no way of fitting inside, and everyone else would be somewhat cramped, except maybe Wonder. The gnomes, still shaking as they listen to everyone making their explanations, look at eachother awkwardly, clearly confused .... W-What? Live bait Humanoids? Calling for help? W-Why, we've done no such things! So R-rude! they both stated in near simultaneous fashion. The male Gnome moves his fingers in a fashion, and the spider above them seems to hesitate a moment, before turning around and climbing back up to its sunbathing spot.
A-As for escaped slaves.. we did in fact think that might be the case.. A-at-least for you and the kitten.... A lot of escaped or rescued S-slaves make their way through here. And are... they hesitated, not sure if they should finish that sentence initially, then, looking at Gustav and Wonder.... B-But if you're not escaped slaves, why are you here? The slaves who are rescued from the city .. U-uh.. make their way through here, under the protection of our arachnids and us, though.. O-Obviously we have to deny that fact... U-Under N-normal circumst-tances. As for you.. our uh.. Giant friend? they say, both of them having to crane their poor little necks just to look up at Truks face. You heard there was t-troub.... realization dawn on their faces You must be here about Zein's notices he sent out to the mainland.... Oh.. this this.... they huddle together for a moment as they speak, their guard utterly down... A-and yes.. we are quite safe thanks to our spiders. We raised them all from hatchlings... they are both our profit, and our security... and our children, since... the female Gnome looks down, sadness crossing over her face as she heads back into the hut, utterly silent, her aura, the very aura of defeat. The male Gnome purses his lips, realizing he'd revealed a bit too much..
With a heavy sigh, the Male continues.. It's ..n-not her fault... Um Anyway, My name is Fizz Cracklestaff. And she is my wife, Ashidia. I call her Ashes... he waxes sentimental for a moment, running his fingers through his soft hair But what issues did you feel needed amending? And again.. what did you mean by bait and cries for help and such?
Even without actively seeing if they were lying or beign false, with the exception of the moments of hesitation, you could tell they were being utterly sincere -if guarded-
As burgee and the other slaves wait at camp, they begin foraging around the area for various things, firewood, plants, etc. 14 Finding more than enough wood to start a fire, if the group wished, when they returned. Finding several edible looking mushrooms, and even bringing down some coconuts which act as a single, tasty, waterskin. After which, he begins setting up any tents that are available, if any at all.
Truk kneels down as to not be rude and make the gnomes crane their necks. "Hello Fizz" Nodding his head "Ashidia." Looking to his companions "I don't know the name Zein but we did see notices of people going missing. You seem like good folk so I don't mind telling you that it seems there's much injustice here and that shall not stand. Slaves, people going missing... I don't like it at all!"
Truk feels like he can trust these gnomes, maybe just based on their size, but realizing he may have said too much falls silent.
Gustav furrows his brow, and for the most part they stayed that way throughout much of the gnomes response. He otherwise didn't seem particular too caring about either their nervousness, supposed good deeds, or children problems. Wonder, however, calmed down considerably once the spider was shoo'ed away, but would occasionally look up to see if she could spot it; namely to make sure it wouldn't surprise her.
By the end, Gustav folds his arms, closes his eyes, and sighs heavily. "I do not suppose the saying, one man's cries for help is another's joy has reached your ears before has it?" He pauses for an answer. "Either way, it was such a situation with me and mines. Aside from your underground cousins on the mainland -- and even then, they aren't much for talking with outsiders mind you -- these old ears are mine aren't quite as keen on discerning cries of distress from... well, whatever it was you were doing. Unfortunate, considering what almost happen... and what could again, if you should decide to make such a racket in the future to some other unfortunate souls." He smiles, but again the warmth is muted at best behind it.
"But as this young one here has hinted at--" He gestures to Truk. "We aren't from this island, and our reasons for being here quite varied. My own has been largely to assist Truk."He pats the big galoot on the shoulder. Then with a frown adds, "Though lately, the scope has expended." He glances over his shoulder to Wonder; Whom at the time was busy looking paranoid behind the group at the time.
"Though, If you mean your abode in particular, again, your cries -- Voice, whatever, had drawn us here. And seeing as we need to know more about the island, its residents, places to avoid, ecetera, ecetera." He rolls his hand. "Obviously, not all of this can be freely given. Where coin may not suffice, with some tutelage, we would assist you in your endeavors for a time while we get our bearings and find a proper safe spot of our own to avoid further upsetting your... brood. Sounds agreeable?" He asks

As Era listened intently to their works, a frown soon spread across her face as guilt settled in the pit of her stomach. I was too quick to judge... At least it doesn't look like they want to harm us, and they're relatively safe... I wonder what happened...The genasi further stayed quiet as opposed to her usual chatty self, dropping her hands down to her sides. She found Gustav to have a much better way with words than she did, and she wanted to see if they were up to take his offer before she properly introduced herself and asked the golden question regarding her father.

Fizz breaks a soft smile out as he 'sheaths' his staff, smiling at the Goliath, who was now much lower to the ground, and easier to see, nodding just a bit In fact their is more injustice than you know. We found out ourselves when we first came here about twenty years ago. We had heard this isl.. well more like the city and the town, were bustling. Trade to many of the ports along the coasts, trade routes with Chult... And us? We knew how to raise spiders and harvest their silk, which is a high demand item among the rich... We quickly found out... Oh excuse me I'm being rude.. one moment...
Fizz went inside, and drug out a small table, that was roughly sized for a human child, and was just large enough for everyone to somewhat uncomfortably sit around it, knee's touching, if they chose. The wife, Ashes, came back out a few moments later, with a pot of stew, that for them likely seemed large, but for the company all here, likely seemed tiny.. it would give each person a half-portion of food. And she used a spell to create water to fill some tiny, teacup sized mugs.
Mhmm.. Fizz says, clearing his throat, the wife, seeming in better spirits, whatever had been haunting her seemed to have left her for now. As I was saying... we quickly found out that every bit of it was true... and unfortunately more. The city here deals in slavery, as it's primary export, as I'm.. guessing you know. They sell them to the highest bidder. Sometimes, have them fight to the death in the arena. They are used as house slaves, forced to do menial labor, others are tasked with other physical work, or in some cases used for sex by the more 'unique' ones, or tortured for the amusement of some sychophant - I think you get the idea.. essentially, almost everyone in that city owns atleast a single slave, if not a small army of them. And they don't require shackles... It's hard to see on some of them, as it would be on you Mr Uh... Tabaxi. but it's a cursed mark, that can be placed anywhere on the body, though it's usually on the chest. it compels the slave to obey any command. They cannot disobey, and any attempt to resist will cause them pain very much like beign tortured in the hells for a millenia. Its a psychological thing... the slave doesn't actually experience the pain but their mind is made to believe they do, that way the ones required for 'work' don't become useless.
he says, stirring his soup, and nursing the broth, though it was clear his previous appetite was gone. Any beast-race.. for lack of a gentler term... he said, flinching from where Gustav and Wonder were, hoping his description hand't angered them... found without a mark, will be forced by the guards down to be arrested and marked... then sold, or used for entertainment in the arena. Until they're spent or useless. After that.. they're sold to the butchers.. to become food for the other slaves.. there was a quiver in his voice as he continued speaking.
But i feel I must tell you I only know the surface details... I dont know enough to help you stag a coup, or somesuch.. But If you intend to go into the city.. you will have to play your roles, mark and all. It is just you guys right? I know what the symbol looks like.. I can uh... make a fake one on you and the kitten that will pass even a magical test.. since i'm clearly a caster... But, even then, it's risky, if even one of you breaks character... You'd have to play like the owners of your uh, friend h-here. Though because of the efficacy of their slave mark.. they won't be suspicious of a 'lone slave' so long as he or she bears the mark. Most of the city is inhabited by High Elves. Then humans, dwarves, Gnomes.. etc... the 'human' races. But most of the people bringing in the slaves are Genasi. Fire and Air ones.. specifically. One of the leaders of the slaving coalition is a Djinn named Oozta? Oozer? OOstel? Something like that...
Finally he forces himself to eat, knowing he needed food. Ashes continues in his place W-well yes. The city is only a century old.. Elvish Settlers.. though I guess they're more like conquerors.. came to this Island. But no one knows exactly what happened after that... it simply became a slaving port after some years. You don't need to uh... 'compensate us' if you're here to help Zein, then you're already helping us. Zein is one of the few people in town, that we know of, who is actively helping slaves escape, though an underground railroad. Metaphorical, of course. He's been helping free slaves for nearly twenty eight years... him and his Fiancee her face darkens, saddens. She looks away as she continues speaking I don't know how they lasted so long without being caught, but Zein is a Paladin, though he's never mentioned who his patron is. And a month ago.. his fiancee Kasumi was one of the people who vanished into the night. Thats what made him send out the calls for help, since he doesn't know too many people he can trust, that can also do something more about it than offer apologies.
Zein visits here every few weeks when he's aiding more in their escape.. but he was just here recently, a few days ago. So he's not likely to come back for some time... Unless we send him a message, or.. you all go to him.
As for places to avoid.... most everywhere in the city if you don't agree with them.. everywhere in the jungle, except maybe here, one of the outposts, or the other town on the far west side of the island. The only truly safe place is the roads.. the patrols keep the dinosaurs away.
even as she said this, a Pteranodon flew down, attempting to swoop at one of the gnomes, only to be caught in the web. The spider nearby immediately climbed along the web, shaking the tree's nearby that were connected, as it wrapped the beast within a cocoon, biting down on it several times, until the beast stopped moving... before beginning to drain it.. alive. Ah.. those things provide endless food for our spiders.. the food comes to us.... sorry it had to be so nearby, just uh.. look away. The spiders dont make noise when they eat... As for the sound earlier.. could you by chance be meaning my laughter? that's how all gnomes laugh, the spiders like to play with me, and carry me around, and they can move so much faster than me, its kind of how I get around outside the house... their jaws tickle something fierce so... I can't really help my laughing... but if that somehow endangered you, I'm sorry. I was wondering why my babies suddenly moved out and spat some webs.. i figured they must have sensed another predator nearby, and attempted to protect me.
And we uh... would offer you safe haven here, but only if you can agree to allow me to put the fake mark on your chest.. if a patrol were to visit, as they often do, to gather supplies the city has bought from us, we'll be in very grave trouble I'm afraid.. I hope you can understand.... Speaking of which.. thats how we aid the slaves that Zein frees... with the money we make from silk harvesting, we can afford to pay people the money in return for taking the slaves off the island, and getting them as close to home as possible. and with our location so close to the ocean, but in between it, and the city.. it's the perfect place to be.
Era sat down with the gnomes when provided a table and seating, the food though, was an added bonus, and she gladly took the small portion she was offered after silently eyeballing it. Wouldn't be the first time I get poisoned, she quips in her mind as she starts eating, listening to the gnomes tell them more about Chult itself... And was completely repulsed at this place. For now she kept the comments to herself to allow them to tell their story, but almost chokes on her stew at the name of the Dijinn. No. No. No. She set down her bowl and forced a smile on her face as her mind races a million miles a minute, mainly waiting for them to stop talking. No, no, that can't be him, theres, like, millions of Dijinns with his name!!! So many, yeah, yeah... No, no no! That has to be him! Lead of a slaving coalition! Really, dad?!
"What the ****!" The words slipped past her lips abruptly and it takes a few seconds for her to realize she said it out loud. Her cheeks go pink in color as she sputters out an apology. "S-sorry about that! Er, uh, Name's Era, I-I hope you don't mind me asking for, em, clarification, on that... Slave leader, dude, thing-- Oozstel? His name is Oozstel, he's a Dijinn? Like... You know, like... Me-ish-kinda but not really...? Have you guys seen him? Could you tell me what he looks like? I-I mean, after, uh, you and Gustav talk about... Marking..." The last word came out strained, Era not particularly pleased that her friend may need to be "marked" to be safe in the city, but... She gives a worried glance between Truk and the feline. It's for their safety...

Gustav sat down with Wonder at his side, but neither drinks or eats; instead choosing to pass on his portions to Wonder. If thirst ever bothers him, he simply takes a sip from his own reserves. Even then, he does so sparingly knowing the dangers of over-indulgence. And where there should've been anger, or at least some measure of annoyance out of the Tabaxi, he never really reacts to the news. If one did not know any better, they would think he lived or experienced a similar situation before, and become numb to it. The surprise cry of the flying lizard did warrant a look, and a grab for rosebud. But he stops short of drawing it upon seeing things safe.
Whatever the case may be, he at least drew the younger Tabaxi into a one-armed hug upon hearing her stop stuffing her mouth. Shocked back into the present by the thought, Wonder stares up at him, but his attention never wavers from the gnomes. This doesn't stop her from hugging him around the middle, silently crying into his side. Wordlessly, Gustav rubs her side.
It is only at the insistence of marking that he went from being passively interested to staring at them with narrowed eyes. But soon after he turns raising a bushy brow at Era's antics. "Hmph... What a strange isle this is. Humans, I could understand, but elven slavers in force."He clicks his tongue and shakes his head. "While the offer is appreciated... no. Not yet, at the very least. Not in my case, at least. If that means sacrificing personal safety by staying largely away from this area -- barring, of course a rare visit as needed -- then so be it. But perhaps some of the others will be willing to back at our, well, temporary base a ways back." He gestures in some random direction, but consciously avoids the right one to the camp. "Though a pair have the instincts for it, I fear that those that were forcibly brought here lived far more peaceful lives than the norm for us 'bestial races'." He says the last part sardonically. "We will have to discuss things with them. All that aside, as for Zein's situation, send word to him to come by week's end. There will be outside aid by then."
"We...I will have a list of special supplies for him to secure in the meantime. The coinage, I can provide for it as well. If you could pass that along that would be most helpful."His expression brightens into a smile, and for once it was genuine. "While I am sorry to hear about this Kasumi. As mentioned, some of our members are not even remotely prepared enough... and I need not remind anyone here what happens then." He says, looking around to the others, though his gaze lingers on Era filled with added meaning.
"But of course, I am no leader of this ragtag group. So my words can be seen as little more than a strong suggestion... for the most part. If our less bestial friends here would like to head in earlier, then by all means. But, I won't be a party to it until my preparations are complete." At that, he crosses his arms, meaning to wait for a response. But then a thought occurs prompting him to look at Ash. "Question, however. How long would it take to reach this outpost?"
The island your on is actually called Ilianaris, Chult is the island you sailed from :P
Mhm, Indeed. Oozstel sounds more correct than the ones I threw out there. He came back to the island some years ago, after having left for a period of time.. We're not sure where he went or what he did then, though we assume he tricked some people into enslaving themselves in some way.... Slavers are all bad people, afterall. About his only saving grace is that only the fire Djin are known to be owned by the nine hells, the wind... they're either hit or miss. For it or not. Whimsy in the end you see? And well.. to be honest, he looks like you if you were male, except he has these odd white-grey tatoos covering his body here and there. He's pretty tall, and he would be handsome if he wasn't so ugly inside... You must really hate him if you would react so vividly.. Ah.. He's usually up in the slaving district. I the largest building, where they keep most of the slaves until they're bought. I'd avoid him if you can.. he's known for his temper... even attacks other slavers sometimes if they anger him, I've heard.
Ashes clears her throat, knowing that in some way they had scared the elderly tabaxi, or put him off. W-Well... Here... she says, pulling out a map, and pointing to several locations, both of which are quite far from here, and about in equal distance... It takes about a week to get halfway to the town of Marivendel. The port is about a day away from here. And the other outpost... she says, straining to reach to point it out on the north-eastern side From here, if you were to go around the main city.. would take two weeks. all of these time frames are, of course... By using the roads.
And as you wish. We just can't risk this place being compromised... if we're lost.. the only hope of those poor souls escaping will be lost with it, because through it, everyone who helps them in the city will be routed out.... And yes, we can actually send him a message, magically with everything you've just stated, we only need to know what you uh.. need?
Truk is barely able to contain himself through the conversation and several times almost popping up and shaking the table. Every now and then throwing in interjections "That's ridiculous!" and "Filthy scum" and "More arms to pull off!"
He manages to contain his fury and, for the most part hold his tongue as the story unfolds.
After the third time Truk let righteous anger get the best of him though a shout, Wonder forgot all about food, and crawled to hide behind the Aged Tabaxi. But in time, she would peek past a shoulder, and a conflicted look would grace her features. Gustav stays on focus for the most part, but would continue to keep an eye on Era from out the corner of them whenever possible.
"That certainly puts a damper on things... And that's also assuming we have some form of transport -- Mount and so on, at that?" He asks in spite of knowing the answer. Once his fear is confirmed (or denied), he takes out from the inner folds of his vest his special book, quickly inscribes with ink and pen before ripping out and passing over the note:
Component Pouchx2 SpellBook (possibly containing at least 1 or 3 spells) Pan Flute Leatherworker's Tool Set Half-Plate Map of the City Map of outlying List of Noteable Merchants Studded Leather Armor Sized for Wonder
"That is only a preliminary list. If he can secure at least some of those without arousing too much suspicion or at great monetary cost, that would be most appreciated. When I deliver the news of marking for... safe heaven to others, I send rest. May be it take a day or two 'fore a decision reach. But we will endeavor to stay out of trouble, and hair in meantime." Gustav chuckles inwardly. "Or at least, /I/ will should others choose to stay in heaven. On subject of supplies, however, are there any notable threats aside from big lizards to avoid? Areas too that should be particularly avoided? I know you probably don't get out much when possible to avoid dangers of outside haven. BUT, it does not hurt to ask, no?"
Gustav has become considerably more relaxed at this point. At least to the point he isn't using idle actions -- a scratch behind the ear, a look down at Wonder, or etc -- to mask keeping an eye out for any threats. But it is clear even by most passive standards the man guarded in at least words.
"And, one other thing aside from all other else... if he could convey pass along his findings on the disappearances, it would be appreciated. While we may hardly be of much help prior to this weeks end, at least what spare time we have can be put towards 'mulling' over the issue. It could even be her disappearance is tied to dream I had recently." Gustav says, tossing out the last phrase in a particular casual fashion.
Occassional Dungeon Master.
Maybe another few hours, or even a day." He shrugs.
Unless you object, young Era?" He asks of her.

This is too easy... She thinks even as her eyes gaze upon the idling spider.

Occassional Dungeon Master.

Would've felt a little less..." But he trailed off there, gritting his teeth behind closed lips.

Finding more than enough wood to start a fire, if the group wished, when they returned. Finding several edible looking mushrooms, and even bringing down some coconuts which act as a single, tasty, waterskin. After which, he begins setting up any tents that are available, if any at all.
Occassional Dungeon Master.

My own has been largely to assist Truk." He pats the big galoot on the shoulder.

I wonder what happened... The genasi further stayed quiet as opposed to her usual chatty self, dropping her hands down to her sides.

Humans, I could understand, but elven slavers in force." He clicks his tongue and shakes his head.
If you could pass that along that would be most helpful." His expression brightens into a smile, and for once it was genuine.

That's what happens when you wear a helmet your whole life!

Component Pouchx2
SpellBook (possibly containing at least 1 or 3 spells)
Pan Flute
Leatherworker's Tool Set
Half-Plate
Map of the City
Map of outlying
List of Noteable Merchants
Studded Leather Armor Sized for Wonder
