Truk is totally psyched to check out the new vegetation in this strange land. Truk was just about to pick one of the giant leaves before they started shaking in response to Era'a magic. He steps back with an apologetic look on his face. While Era is doing her thing Truk would make a circuit of the camp looking carefully at the ground for tracks, and on tree branches for signs of animal droppings from above.
Gustav hides it well, but the pain remains behind the thin lipped frown. In the span of a few seconds, he took in the situation, the distance, the obstacles both visible and hidden away. The more he thought, the more anger began to creep into his face. Wonder, mercifully, had grown so enthralled in her little tune as to not pay the strange cries on the wind not much further mind. He would've liked to leave in her blissfully ignorance. But he takes her shoulder, grab her attention almost instantly.
The immediate terror in her eyes nearly broke him. But without a word, he points out the sight to her, and in words too quiet for the others to overhear he begins the lesson. "You see that, my dear? Another unfortunate soul. If he is lucky, those two will fight over the meal, giving him an opportunity to escape. The fact that he can scream at all shows that their poison hasn't paralyzed him yet." Wide-eyed, Wonder looks to Gustav and starts frantically pointing in the gnomes direction before taking out her hand crossbow. "Mn. I'm afraid the range of that is too short to grant him that sort of mercy."Somehow, her eyes got wider at the statement.
"Oh. You mean we should rescue him? Such a sweet heart. But tell me-..." He leans in a little, a grim smile playing at the corner of his lips. "How many lives are you willing to spend to save someone clearly out of reach, and doomed to die regardless of any good intended effort?"Gustav hardly finishes the sentence when Wonder scratches him across the face just deep enough to draw blood. More from shock then physical force, Gustav was moved by the blow, eyes wide from shock. Even if he had saw the blow coming, he just... couldn't believe it. Glancing at her from the corner of his eyes, and seeing the tears now budding in them, Gustav tried to say something more. But in a rush, she wipes the tears from her eyes, slide/claw her way down, and immediately ran to Nin.
To the bugbears consternation, she climbed up without asking and was forced to listen to here whisper something into his ears. After sparing Gustav a funny look, Nin turns to the rest and says, "Uh... ****. It's too hot for this--Owowow--okay okay!"He says, rubbing the ear Wonder bit into. "Worse than Moms."She starts bearing her teeth again, causing him to jerk his face away. "Easy, easy! Hey! So, apparently there's some gnome about to get eaten by a bunch spiders a ways a way."He starts to point in one direction until Wonder drag his pointing hand over to the right one. "Uh, that a way. Apparently. We, uh... we goin', or... what?"
Gus never stops his observation, but Ka -- who had watched the whole event unfold -- readies his weapon to stand beside Nin and Wonder. "They're not wrong." Gustav cuts in. Looking up, it appears he returned to normal, but doesn't look back at the others. "About -- mm, 200 years, sorry, yards, give or take. Poor fellow has found himself in quite the pickle with two giant spiders. Too far to run too in time. But spiders are usually slow eaters. Could track him down maybe."He lets his head lull to the side to look back at the others. "Unless any of you got a brilliant idea that doesn't involve all of us attracting unwanted attention."

Era listened to the tree speak, her eyes wide, almost sparkling, in wonder at its words, even if she understood little of it. Trees have always been so wise and cryptic, even if they truly didn't want to be, well, at least the ones that she had spoken to. She opened her mouth to ask further questions, but noticed Wonder make her way down said tree with no Gustav to be found, finding it quite odd at first, until she hears the bugbear talk, then Gustav confirming his words. The druid taps her chin. "I think it's worth a shot to save a life! Who knows! This guy is probably an important NPC we need to save to further our quest in this campaign might have some useful information to give us? Assuming he isn't dead by the time we get to him." Off to the sidelines, Minos scoffs.
"I... Do have some fast fey friends I could summon to distract the spiders further and to buy us some time..." Era turns to the tree. "Excuse me--thank you for your wisdom, by the way!-- would it be at all possible to tell your plant friends to allow us easier passage about two hundred yards--" She points in the direction of the spiders "That way? I know it's a lot to ask... Maybe a few yards?" The genasi looks to the others. "Unless someone else has a better idea..."

Burgee hears Era talking to the tree. "What's going on? Save who?" He looks around at the group. "I don't see anything happening. But um... don't we need to start working on camp if we plan on making it through the night?"
As Truk scans the camp, he's unable to find any sort of animal fecal matter whether above or below them, nor does he notice any tracks going any which way.. except those left by the party of course in the tiny clearing. The leaves seeming to rustle of their own accord as the suffused area continues to glow, even as Era talks to the tree, though only she can hear it's whispers, it's obvious the tree's are ..moving just a little. Though as he continue's to scan the area, he finds a tiny red mushroom growing just beneath one of the leaves at the edge of the camp, decorated with vibrant orange spots seemingly in an unconnected 'ring' around the rim of the cap. Seemingly oblivious to what Gustav and Era are talking about.
As Era asks her questions, the tree gives off a wave of confusion, obviously unsure what a 'yard' is - but she see's some of the tree's slowly shifting at an angle away from the direct path she pointed, though their roots were still in the same place as the tree's cannot uproot themselves, aside form this, the tree's can accommodate no more to her request.

Gustav stares a little wide-eyed at the resulting talk with the trees. Shaking himself first, Gustav looks to Era in astonishment while Gus starts murmuring something to himself. The later's observation being complete, he settles beneath the tree Era had been talking to, and gets into a meditative position; unconcerned of any trouble with the gnome.
"I dare say you should summon them, then, bluey. But be swift about it. Time is fast running out for our dear friend."With that, Gustav scrambles his way down, and started stretching. "Two-hundred yards in a minute. Haven't come close to running so far since racing my old friends back in the Horde Lands."He says in a joking tone. "Better be quick then, my son. Burgee. Think you and our friends here can--"Before Gustav can finish the sentence, Wonder had scampered over and back onto his back, nearly off-balancing the old cat again in her rush. The two share a look before the older of the two sighs in defeat. "You better hang on tight. Burgee. Trust you, Nin, Ka, and... Gus can see to the camp. And Truk--" He grins. "Try to keep up."
Without further pause, Gustav gets down on all fours for the initial double-dash worth of feline agility through the path cleared by the trees with Wonder hanging on for dear life.

(Before I go running off I'd like to know if my roll turned up anything about the mushrooms and if they seem like they would have any advantageous properties I'd grab a few)
Truk hearing what sounds like a challenge from his fleet footed friends smiles "Me keep up? I'm sorry my old friend but I'll have to slow down to make sure you don't all loose sight of me!"
With that he takes off running with the others and catches up to Gustov after 240'. He will continue running for another turn just to show that he can keep the pace all day and then slow to let everyone catch up. (My movement is 40)
While running I'll also be looking for any tracks from the gnome and if I see any follow them at speed. Survival: 10

Era starts humming as she watches the others start running for the gnome, the genasi in slight hopes that they could stop him from being eaten. "Stay safe kiddos!" She beams over to those left behind, Minos being one of them. "We'll be back in a flash!" She turns to where Gustav and Truk made their way and starts skipping down the path as her tattoos start glowing again. While she happily makes her way down, her cloak shifts to match the dark earthy colors of the jungle, all the while two white pools of magic slowly follow and form beside her. Not a few seconds later did two small fey beings come to shape.
"Ey, whatcha need, Miss Era? Surprised ya summoned us this time a day!" "Where the hell are we anyways?"
"A jungle! I need you two to run very fast for me!" She chirps in their native tongue, gradually picking up her pace. "Help us save this gnome dude and I'll reward ya! If you see some big spiders, you're where you need to be!"
"Well you don't gotta ask us twice!"They said in unison with a grins on their faces.

Burgee nods his affirmation, though a bit saddened that he was asked to stay instead of help .. but things needed to be done, and those three could probably handle it, and these newly free'd slaves would need someone strong to protect them... So Burgee happily sets out and begins making the camp, asking the slaves to help build it with him, setting up any relevant tents, firepits, and so forth. And with the aid of the others is done at more or less the same time as the main group gets to where they need to be for the gnome.

As Truk awakens from his dream of outpacing Gustav initially, he realizes the cat is actually quite a distance ahead of him...... at-least 40 feet in the lead, and maintaining it. It seems after that initial burst of speed however, he was forced to settle into a normal dashing pace, with Truk, ever so slowly gaining on the Tabaxi, before finally passing him, slowly, a few additional feet at a time. Even as they have their manly contest, two tiny fairies speed past them both, making them all seem like slugs racing hares as the two fey get ahead of even the leader of the pack by a massive margin, giggling as they go, making playful but taunting faces, as they flit through and between the tree's, tiny, evil sparkles floating behind them. Gustav and Truk run through the jungle, managing to avoid making too much noise, Era, on the other hand.. so enraptured by nature as she runs, is looking all around her brushes through nearly every leaf, and steps on almost every fallen twig, creating a small cacophony of noise that softly echoes, fading into the forest.

One of the fey becomes invisible as it uses the natural surroundings in it's approach, completely unseen, and unheard. Two of the spiders, however, notice it, Rearing up their front legs defensively and baring their fangs at it. Another cry comes from the oblivious Gnome, the spider holding it cradled in his fangs Whoa wau haa au! Hehehehehehe UAHHH!!! both the Gnome and the spider cradlign it are oblivious.. the spider so Oblivious it turns away, starting to carry the gnome off, in a random direction, and at a casual pace. the other spider seems not to care overly much, hte other two however alert the fourth and it too bares its fangs at the intruder it can see..
Webs cover the tree's here spanning between them like a net, much like you would see in a colony of spiders. In spme spots a "Leather-Bird" is trapped in a web, though none are moving.. likely already drained of their lifeblood. Though it's not hard to spot that the ground, and a few feet above it aren't covered in webs at all. Truk barrels up stealthily but is then noticed by two of the spiders, followed by Gustav, noticed only by one... The Spiders grow agitated, all of them spitting webs in that direction, the webs spread out however.. like a net blocking off the remaining space beneath the tree's making it more difficult to get through from that general direction, and about 80 feet in either direction. The spiders back off slowly, with their heads toward the group. until they get just behind the tree's, one of them taking to the webs, all of them more or less heading the same direction that the first one did. The one fey however, managed to make it inside before all of this, and remains unseen.
RE: 21
In the near distance, a soft tremor, and deep bass rumble echoes through the earth, Era catching up to the group another moment after Gustav, just in time to witness the spiders escaping with their Gnome friend.
Burgee, hearing the rumble looks down the path towards the others. He shouts at the few that stayed behind to make camp, "Come! Something is happening. We have to find Era and hte others!" And he runs off with Kauil and others to the side of Era, Gus, and Truk.
OOC: Unclear of how they traveled so far so fast but with the rumble, Burgee wants to get back to with the group and take whoever else was around with him.

Remembering his previous venture, Gustav drops back, but kept pace enough with Truk to keep the goliath plenty in sight. Of the fey, he paid only as much mind as he needed to avoid any sudden pranks out of them before turning his attention back on the path ahead of the group. At the sight of webbing now blocking the path, Gustav clicks his teeth and slows further, finally giving Wonder a chance to breathe and spit out some of the plant matter that somehow managed to get caught in her mouth. Before he can get a word out about the webs however, the soft tremor catches his ears.
"Knew it," He mutters, then aloud says, "Sonny! If you cut through, cut through quick. Otherwise scatter and hide."Taking his own advice, Gustav keeps going up to where the webbing starts before ducking into the thicker underbrush off to the side to hide with Wonder's assistance among it.
Era looks at the webbing with a slight pout on her lips. "Dang, I wonder if either of them got through..." And before she could really dwell on it, she felt the soft tremor, her eyebrows furrowing while Gustav made his warning. Following suit, she dives deep into the underbrush as well, her cloak camouflaging to match the colors of the junglescape as much as possible. The one fey friend who lagged behind quietly joins her, whispering in her ear, "Hermes made it through."

Truk looks around and listens to the sound thinking his friends are awfully jumpy. The webs are looking very thick. Much tougher than the giant spiders he's experienced up in the mountains. He's not sure if he really wants to mess them. He's also concerned about the noise. It seems pretty obvious it must be something very big to make the ground tremor.
Truk cast Speak with Animals trying to see if the spiders are reacting to the noise.
((@Burgee - they were all dashing *pun* and combat hasn't started so it's not in 'rounds' .. essentially, they ran like crazy, using their movement speeds, and racials))
The tremors creep closer, at a brisk, but clearly, not 'running' pace *thoom* ... *thoom* the ground shakes a little more with every passing moment...
Though currently the creature itself still cannot be seen it is more than clearly heading this way. One another few moments or so and it will be in the area. Even as this goes on, Truk begins attempting to commune with the animals around him, who are all beginning to flee the area, one stops confusedly at the large humanoid who can somehow speak to him, as the spiders are completely uninterested in stopping as they back away defensively into the deeper nest of their webs and tree's, hardly making a sound. The Al'Miraj looks up at Truk as he asks his question, the tiny horned rabbit speaks back in broken thoughts ''hunger is coming, how do you not know? it will feast upon you and yours...." it finishes before flitting off into the jungle, though is seen a few moments later inside the webbed area, as it went around the web barricade, and under the tiny gap.
Truk also can tell the spiders who were fleeing were silkweb spiders, who's webs are known for their luxurious use in the creation of many things, and that aside from this uniquity, they are not much different from any other giant spider variety. They posses potent venoms, and are highly territorial and protective of their kind, generally living in colonies.
As Hermes the Fey follows in perfect stealth behind the spiders, being just inches away from them, without even making wind-noise, the Gnome continues to shout and scream, almost as if giggling in some odd Gnomish way? Hermes makes his way around to the front of the spiders, who aren't known for their amazing eyesight, relying more on their tremor and web senses to find prey, Hermes could see the Gnome was being... carried?! though within the fangs of the spider, the fangs are very purposefully not piercing the Gnome, and it seems the spiders are heading towards a medium sized hut in the center of this white, webbed jungle of tree's, though brightly lit, it is crisscrossed with hundreds of shadows brought on by a mixture of the canopy, and the many webs above.

Burgee and the others continue to move as swiftly as they can down the path to find the others. But the noise, it sounds... large. Burgee whispers back to the others, "Quiet as a mouse," he says, and they all attempt to keep up their dashing pace major as little noise as they can. (Stealth: 13)
Burgee keeps a sharp eye out for clues that may help him know what is making this noise. (Nature: 10)

"Bruh, what the..." Hermes muttered as he followed behind the spiders. Is this dude some sorta shaman? A spider whisperer? The quickling was unsure if he could head back to join Lady Era at this point, his own curiosity getting the better of him. Just gotta be light as a feather and quiet like a mouse... Find the out the good stuff before heading back right? Yeah...
Hermes will stay around and try and follow the gnome. If he enters the hut, he will stay outside it but try and listen in to report anything back to Era and the group.

Gustav remains in hiding, but together with Wonder watches Truk. He hardly dared to speak least attention be drawn to the duo. And a conflicted Wonder could only chew her lips in silence. Short of the source of the tremor picking up pace from the source catching the scent of prey, the two tabaxi remain deep in the brush, watching over the goliath.
Nin and the lizardfolk brother look to each other, then back to Burgee. "Ever get the feeling we'd been betta off on da ship?"Nin whispers to the brothers. The duo brush off the comment to go slinking after the bird folk. Nin isn't far behind, but grumbles the first few feet into the trek.

Surprised ya summoned us this time a day!"
"Where the hell are we anyways?"
"A jungle! I need you two to run very fast for me!" She chirps in their native tongue, gradually picking up her pace. "Help us save this gnome dude and I'll reward ya! If you see some big spiders, you're where you need to be!"
"Well you don't gotta ask us twice!" They said in unison with a grins on their faces.
((When they catch up to Gustav and friends they'll make silly faces at em and keep going. Their base speed is 120, they'll be dashing to get to the desired location. Era will be running and dashing too.))

Otherwise scatter and hide." Taking his own advice, Gustav keeps going up to where the webbing starts before ducking into the thicker underbrush off to the side to hide with Wonder's assistance among it.

"Hahaha, looks like ya ain't fast enough, hot shot-- Yeesh!" The quickling taunted behind them with a grin, only for it to fall a few seconds after, seeing that the others spiders had blocked off the others path. "Ah, shoot, let's see what I can do..."
Hermes will stalk behind the spooder with the gnome and wait for an opportunity to save him.

"Ever get the feeling we'd been betta off on da ship?" Nin whispers to the brothers. The duo brush off the comment to go slinking after the bird folk. Nin isn't far behind, but grumbles the first few feet into the trek. The trio stay low and close to the tree canopy along the road open up by the trees.

Truk squats down and whispers "The fleeing animals say a big predator is coming. We may want to use the webbing as cover." He then starts trying to make a hole in the web as quietly as possible. He uses both axes to try and make a passage large enough to get through.
