Last of all Phaedra wanders into the tavern, the clinking of her scale armour audible as she walks through the door. A smile beams from ear to ear as she spots the rest of the group and waves.
"Ohh Vassa. I have a epic story for you to sing about! And and I have just procured our first trophy for the tavern...well once old Gilbert the taxidermist is finished with the head"

"Your just going to have to wait until it's properly prepared and mounted in about two days time. But Kestrell, you should have seen me. It did not stand a chance, the light of her Holy Mother of Mysteries flowed threw me and vanquest the foul beast as i stood defient in the face of its terrifying visage!"
She leans back in and adds with a whisper, "I think I just chalked up a bigger blow against the Xanathar than your little escapades in the sewers." The priestess throws in a wink for good measure, her gold flecked eyes sparkling .

The griseled barkeep glares at you for a moment and then responds, "Only one plate of food and a single drink for each of yer friends. Anything past that, they can pay. You're not tricking me into paying to get a dwarf drunk."
OCC: Hey Vassa, which tavern are you at?
"Fair enough, friend, though I daresay that by the time your customers have stopped throwing coin upon the stage following my performance, my companions and I will be taking our pick of the refreshments that your lovely establishment has to offer. We'll take our meals and drinks, and then I'll set-up shortly for the show. Mayhap you could speak to some of your locals and regulars about spreading the word that the soon-to-be-famed half-drow bard Vassa Sunstar will be performing here this very night? To drum up a bit more business, I'm sure you understand."
[OOC] Sorry about the absence. I would have recommended to the party that we pick a relatively isolated tavern near the docks where we might be able to lay our trap effectively to hopefully corner this killer. I'm thinking the Sailor's Own if that works in-game.
D&D is a game, but it's not just a game. It's the ultimate storyboard, a campfire to share with friends, an imaginary call to imaginary arms and a ship to sail to horizons yet undreamt of...

Vassa nods in greeting to everyone as the complementary food and drinks are brought over, listening in sincere and rapt attention as the Mystran priestess recounts her story,
"That DOES sound like a tale worth hearing, Phae, and as my old nan used to say, any tale worth hearing, is a tale worth sharing! The head of a foul beast you say? And another blow struck against the Xanastafarians? Well done, well done, indeed.
The plan? I think it's as Kes said, though perhaps we might refine our tactics a little. Word should spread soon of my performing here tonight. This should hopefully draw out our target, who we might assume will take the opportunity to claim another victim, though from my previous encounter I think it likely that he will wait until I leave the venue after the show.
My thoughts are that I stumble alone drunkenly up Sail Street towards Coin Alley and the end of the docks. At the end or somewhere along the way, you lovelies will be waiting hidden so that when my attacker makes his move, you can all leap to my rescue... how does that sound? Unless this murderer has gills or wings, there aren't too many places to run or hide up there. Thoughts?"
[OOC] The above assumes that we're in the Sailor's Own, but can be adapted to any tavern that suits DM and story purposes.

Silver just walks in and joins the party tossing a pouch in the air smiling - he just opens up the bag and begins to count the amount before placing it in his money pouch "How are you all doing today?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Hey, Silver. Not as well as you, it would seem. We were just discussing the welcome that we're going to lay for our mystery 'friend'. As I was saying, ...
... so unless any of you want to suggest something entirely different, I'll just go an set-up for the show?
I'll admit though, that I'm still feeling a little sore after our escapades yesterday, so if anyone wants to help liven up my performance, either on stage with me or with some nifty audience participation, the help would be greatly appreciated."
Vassa will stay long enough to finish his drink and listen to any variations to the plan, before taking to taverns rather small and derelict stage. The suddenly focused bard takes the time to perform the ritual to summon Airus, before lighting and placing five candles, as well as despositing a number of other items about the stage, a set of manacles here, a length of rope there, a bell and a few of Zemks daggers as well.
Once his preperations are done and enough patrons have gathered in the tavern's taproom, the silver-haired minstrel with the amethyst coloured eyes sits atop a stool lays his viol nearby and takes his flute in hand as he begins to musically tell the tale of the parties exploits against the Zhents and Xanathar Guild, of saving Raener and Floon. At various stages of the performance, Vassa has Airus brandish various items about the stage, though otherwise the unseen servant simply flits about the stage, causing the candles to shift and move throughout the act.
The bard loses himself in the pieces final stanza, putting aside his flute to play his viol as he sings,
"... Though beset by night birds of a feather, with black cloaks and childish tongues But never fearing in the city of wonders, for the watch comes, the watch it always comes To scatter dark blades to the wind and send champions delving deep Like brave bulls, fierce lions, or merely silly little sewer sheep To face dangerous maws and claws, and yet still more dangerous eyes To test a lurking menace beneath, hidden from law and light, from stars and skies As heroes do, they battled true and bested savage steel and spiteful spell To fell the villain and save the prince, for this tale ends well, as such guilded tales oft end well When the singer lives to tell the cheeful story and sing the victors' song Or at least this latest refrain, for stories and songs are eternal and go on, even as the dark night itself continues, everlong Everlong, everlong..."

And so the evening passes. The audience is mesmerized by the bard's performance, including those of his party. As closing time nears, Vassa wraps up his last tale and proceeds to gather his things, including the tips that were left for him which total 50 copper.
The party members leave out as planned with Vassa playing the lone, intoxicated half-elf. As he walks through the Dock Ward, winding back and forth through various streets his senses are high, listening for any sound that he's being watched or followed. But no such noise did he here and eventually our bard (and the rest of the party) made his way north, back to Trollskull Manor.
The hour is late so the discussions are brief. To bed they head for sleep. Before they know know it the sun has risen and the construction crews are present once again making needed repairs to their new home.
Phaedra complete her usual morning rituals and then heads downstairs, greeting those that are present. After listening to Kestrell, she has a little think about there situation.
"There are a few things we can do. Firstly we need to make sure repairs continue on the Manor. As part of this we could follow up our new friend with the Order of the Gauntlet just to see where we sit.
As for the Portal, it is the least pressing of our concerns right now. We are still caught in the middle of this conflict between the Zhentarim" she looks around for Elon "under Manshoon, and the Xanathar. If you remember I thought we where targets after the resume that was pulled off, among other things.
And then, well there is still this elf killer. Are we going to try again tonight in the same area? Try something different?"
Phaedra ponders for a few seconds. "I do know someone who has her finger on the pulse of the happenings within Waterdeep. Maybe I could see if she knows any information that we do not about this elf killer."
