Aye, and and forgive my poor accent, its difficult to master an old tongue, but we consider it a boon- given that Cragmaw has so much more to food. No deception, nor favors to ask, Venomfang, just ah professional courtesy on an excellent lead, if you will. We want our friend, but the keep and all its staff would be far more useful for you, we thought.
Venomfang listens patiently to your entire speech. He looks around at his lair, stretches his wings out fully and retracts them again.
While this is happening, everyone besides Fjolnir and Dirk:
Sees the cultists running up the path from the bottom of the hill out the cottage window.
Venomfang speaks in draconic again, while he gets his face within striking distance of Dirk. His acrid breath curls your nose hairs, even though you are immune to the effects of poison.
"This place will suit me just fine for now. However, you are correct that I could take this Cragmaw Castle at my whim. I have taken the whole of Neverwinter Wood as mine. Therefore, anything in it is fit to serve me. You offer something I have already claimed, essentially, in an attempt to have me do your work for you. Tell me, what is keeping me from eating you AND taking Cragmaw Castle?"
He slowly recoils his head and sits down, reaching over to a small pile of treasure that has spilled out of an old chest, grabbing a silver goblet set with moonstones, and swishing it around as though it had liquid in it.

On the contrary. I drag each word out in breathless awe. There is nothing stopping you from eating us, and taking everything. I certainly have naught the audacity to suggest otherwise. I am abundantly aware that.... a magnificent form such as yourself has no use for us tiny skin bags. A dragon does not need, you simply take what you want. I have nothing but admiration for that level power and am humbled before it. If I have given you any implication that I am asking anything of you I beg your forgiveness. I fall to my knees before the dragon. If I am out of place questioning why you reside here, I certainly know my place now. With our lives we have every intention of clearing Cragmaw castle as it is, for our own reasons. I gaze upon you as though you are the sun itself, and what is the sun without tiny creatures to bask with astonishing awe in it's radiance?
Of course its yours, and you own it all, we're doing you a favor then either way, and happy to do so. Maybe you want the keep, maybe you don't, but it bore suggesting it. Nothing makes people cower and run like a dragon flying in, that's for sure. Of course, then dinner runs away off the plate. Forgive me if it seems you'd be doing the work, rather that It simply seemed a mutual beneficial arrangement, of course. Even shepherds employ dogs to round up their sheep. Hell of a sight more capable dogs are we than your fan club ye have over there. Half them flea-bearers are likely a napping the day away.
He gestures at the men stumbling up the path. Turns to the dragon, and in common says, "We just wanted to be honest with ye." and watches him. insight: 18
I ready spike growth to cast so that I am just out of the 20 foit radius. For if I get the go for agression from team mates or if the cultist attack us.
Venomfang sniffs Dirk, and drops Draconic to speak in common. "Interesting. You are in awe of me as you should be. Yes."
He cranes his neck to see the cultists coming up the path out one of the tower windows and starts laughing. "Ha ha ha. Two groups of visitors in one day. Very well, you think yourself more capable dogs? Prove it. The outcome will determine which group becomes my servants."
Everybody hears this, including the cultists, due to his booming voice. They, pause, look at each other, then draw swords and continue running up the path.
Az Emberi sees this sign of aggression and casts his readied Spike Growth in their path, which actually catches them inside the radius. (I'm going to say this counts as your reaction for the first round of combat since you had it readied.)
They all freeze where they stand as the ground sprouts spikes and spines in a large area on the hillside.
Venomfang: 20 Cultists: 12
Hymir:
Dragons are vain and egotistical, they do not fear losing battles. You feel like it would gladly take this offer because it would feel it had no chance of losing.
Krodmad points his finger to the leader of the cultists below and whispers his Message.
"Your dragon 'ally' has tasked us with killing each other to see who would remain 'worthy' enough to serve him. If we're expendable now, we're expendable later, and what worth is that? We were all mistaken believing this dragon would ever fight alongside us. Instead we are to serve beneath it and die for its amusement. Do you still feel as passionately for this dragon as you do for all dragons? If not, we all still have a chance to survive this day."
"This coddling has got to come to a close." Fjolnir steps out across the threshold into the sunlight with two arrows in hand, sights the 1st and 3rd cultist, and whispers a Hail of Thorns conjuration. He draws and fires at the first, takes the second arrow and nocks and looses again, at the 3rd.
Krodmad stays on the other side of the door, bow in hand without an arrow nocked... just in case any weirdness befalls the party.
Az Emberi is towards the back listening but not understanding.
