You wake up, slowly. Your last memory is of getting hit by a spell and losing consciousness. After some effort, you figure out that you're in a narrow alley in the middle of a city. There are brick walls to both sides, the ground seems to consist of cobblestone, it's very dark, and you can hear the sounds of lots of people nearby.

Grishkar rolls over and pushes himself against the wall until sitting upright. After a moment to collect his thoughts and hissing more than a few curses, he gathers himself and slides along one of the walls to the end of the alley. Best to avoid notice until necessary. "Darkness is my ally, the Skull watches all..."

"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both" -- allegedly Benjamin Franklin
Grishkar observes the city traffic, taking in the general details of the area. Once acquainted to his surroundings, he sheds his dark robe, exposing a terrifying sight: scarred, slashed flesh tattooed with intricate arcane patterns. A coat of scales hugged his small frame, giving an impression of a spindly lizard. At his hips hung a curved blade and wrapped scourge.
Turning his robe inside-out, Grishkar pulled up his hood and proceeded into the city populace, trying to blend in. At a glance, one wouldn't notice the outline of a skull and scythe stitched into his robe.

You are on top of a roof. There is another roof right behind you. There are streets on either side. Past the roof you're on are several other roofs. In other words, you're on top of a city.

Are you trying to interact, or just scout? There's more than one way to blend in, you know.

From overhearing conversations, you discover that the city is called Astreah, which is not a name you recognize. You also learn that the city is ruled by one King Rath Starshade; his symbol of power seems to be something called the Crystal Throne. Someone, attempting to calm an argument, called on Rao, who you recognize as the God of Peace and Reason; but you heard several others mention gods you didn't recognize, at various times. Other than that, you learned a lot of gossip. This took 70 minutes.

I pull my hood up in order to avoid any onlookers noticing my green stilted eyes and snake like features. I would like to head to a near by tavern if i can find one and have a chat with a bartender in-order to understand anything i can about this place while avoiding suspicion.
Grishkar takes his new information back to the alley and calls up to the creature on the roof, "While you're looking at things from up there, tell me if yiu see anyonr coming. I need 1 hour."
After fashioning a makeshift cover from passing observers, Grishlar sets to work casting Find Familiar. (Cast as a ritual. Provided no one comes along, I'd like a raven. Going to fly over the city, take a little while longer to get a broader idea of where we are, city layout, locations of note, and maybe create some havoc.)
