"Should we check up on her? I mean, what if something happened?" Merzin seems overwhelmed by the situation, so many problems, and he does not want to miss anything that could cause harm to his party members.
Wondering why she hasn´t come back yet the party has still some questions to ponder.
Who are this Blood Bonds? Who is this stranger who spokee of a spreading disease? Money seems to be the most obvius reason for the Blood Bonds to want them to retrieve the medicines before it hits the street for free but, could the organitation have another, more sinister goal? What about the Quóri that attacked the market yesterday? And the missing person in the north?
((thanks for the recap!!))
Leto, sipping a glass of wine, nods and says "Agreed... She was with us when this all started... Perhaps her disappearance is connected?" adding "There seems to be more going on here than simply a mission to return some 'stolen' herbs. And clearly those herbs were worth quite a bit of gold, if we were to be given 1,000 simply as a finder's fee. While we're looking for Marzira let's see what we can learn of these so called 'Blood Bonds' as well."
The companions left the explanations of the cloaked figure for later, now that they had realized that one of the is missing. They check on her room but nothing has been touched. Most of her things, except those that she was carrying to the fights are still in the room. Hidden under the bed they find the stash of money the gnome gave to them as advance for their services.
Even more worried, they make haste to the mill, across the city, and reach it not long after lunch time. They see about a dozen of workers dismantling the ring, benches and decorations of the night before, turning the holding space of the mill to it’s normal self again.
No sign of her friend, neither from the showman, his assistant or the champion can be seen around. They are all gone and the workers seems to be working mostly unsupervised, but they are beign efficient. One bulky and short man, with more weight that one would consider healthy, but still moving around with vigor, seems to be in charge.
(Apologies guys. Very busy in life recently, more work hours, less time with family. Soi will be withdrawing from this game unfortunately. Maybe next time.)
Merzin walks up to the nearest worker, "Hey! Sorry to disturb you from your work, but we left a friend here earlier, and have not seen her since. Have any of you seen someone leave when you began cleaning up the place?" While he is talking, Merzin looks about the Mill nervously, hoping to find something that she left behind.
" No worries lad it's ok, how was your friend again? " he listen to Marzira's description " No, sorry lad didn't caugh me eye"he turns and calls others workers " Yo Tad! Gruk! have you seen this girl? They are looking for her!"
" I think I saw her leaving with the showmaster and his assistant and that big fellow, the champ!" replies Tad.
" Yeah I think they were headed to the old Gremtholkir state. I heard them talking something about fighting in the big leagues or something like that... "adds the one named Gruk.
"There you are lad" replies the original worker with a smile " The old Gremtholkir state is about half a day towards the north, you won't miss it. It is the great house above a hill in sight of the road. I think it is a couple of miles inside the field but... "he shrugs " hope you find your girl lad!"
Vox comments to the others, "It's one thing for her to decide to join a fighting circuit... but to leave without her things and not saying a word? That's... odd."
"If you all want to, I wouldn't mind tracking her down - we could always say it's under the guise of returning her things and curious to see this... 'big league' of fighting," Vox offers.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Leto, following along and listening carefully, occasionally looking up to Hulud on his shoulder and sharing a glance, says "At this point what exactly is our 'mission'? The herb has been given to those who need it, so it cannot be returned. Perhaps we should at least go back and report that? Though I am also curious about the attack on the town. That creature... was something I'd never seen before..." He then turns to whomever from town is near and asks "You... what is the talk around town about that monster attack the other day?" insight 21
After taking some food to eat on the road at their inn, the party grabtheir coats and decide to go north to this Gremtholkir state to look for their missing friend.
They make good progress, even with the unpleaseant wind that constantly flows from the northeast and the ominous, heavy, dark grey clouds over their heads that menance heavy rain or even snow.
They soon enter a pine wood and following the directions, after a quick stop to eat, they find what it should be the state.
A great stone and wood house, three stories tall, with an inverted V shaped roof looms over the top of the hill. The hill itself is big enough to even have some terrain for the house delimited by a metal fence that surrounds the house to keep beasts away from it.
It seems that the house is a rectangle of 150 feet per 50 feet, so it's a huge construction, and there compound that surrounds it has about 30 feet from the fence to the proper house.
Some trees are inside the fence, doting what it seems to be the gardens of the house.
There is another construction to the far left corner of the fence, some stables for the look of it, but they should approach to have a better look at it.
The building seems abandoned except for the flickering light of a candle, or a candelabra, that comes from what it seems to be the main room on the second floor.
The wind moves the branches of the trees and the temperature is droping.
He then turns to whomever from town is near and asks "You... what is the talk around town about that monster attack the other day?" insight 15
Did I get anything from that?
Following along with the group, Leto will send Hulud to fly over to the house to get a closer look, and perhaps try to see into the windows. Hoping that a raven will not be out of place.
The raven, at his master command, opens his balck wings and soars over the party, gainining altitude in ascending spirals. Then he circles the building and, through his eyes Leto see that it seems that the entire compound is abandoned.
The building in the rear is, in fact, some kind of stables, and he can see now that part of it is over the edge of the summit of the hill and is supported by big wooden pillars.
Guiding Hulu to the balcony where they can see the light coming out he sees now that it is, in fact, a big room. The room is void of any furniture and in the floor something is painted in the floor. A circle with arcane symbols and sigyls around its perimeter.
At regular intervals there are single black candles around the circle. Half of them are already unlit and Let can see a little imp, the light of the remaining candles reflecting on his dark red skin, that is in the process of putting down the rest of the candles. The imp seems to be muttering something to hinself, and suddenly turns to see Hulu on the balcony.
He goes directly towards the raven, moving hands and screaming, clearly to spook him out.
Vox immediately tells the others, "Let's find a way in... Marzira is in there, and somehow, I get the feeling she was influenced to do so."
"I could go invisible and search the grounds for a way in, but at this point, we might be better off staying together... I don't think they were expecting company. We might be able to find a quick side entrance in and catch them by surprise."
The fence only has one entrance, the main entrance, but they could climb up by one of the sides over the rusty and old metal fence.
The house has, indeed, another two entrances besides the main gate, wich has two rooten and broken wooden doors. One of the other entrance is on the left side of the house, near the stables and it seems to be a service entrance. There is another door at the back of the house, wich leads to a now savage garden. Another two wooden doors that appear open.
Before entering Leto casts Detect Magic, though first says to those nearby "Are we expecting to fight? Or are we going to talk our way out of this? We're just here hoping to find our friend yes?"
"Should we check up on her? I mean, what if something happened?" Merzin seems overwhelmed by the situation, so many problems, and he does not want to miss anything that could cause harm to his party members.
