Briga pats Tyrus on the shoulder, saying, "Maybehe sees something in you that makes you suited for their organization, something you didn't even see in yourself, Tyrus. Like when I was offered to become a knight. It sounded crazy to me at first - Griff, our shining armored paladin, makes so much more sense. But maybe there is something to it. We're all capable of more than we had imagined."
"That's simple, because I've spoken to a few of the other factions - one of your party have already been invited to join the Order of the Gauntlet. And from what I've been told, our goals and yours are rather similar," Mirt responds with a soft smile. "And, I don't want to rob the other factions of some brilliant talent - especially as sometimes we do all come together for the greater good. Even the shifty Zhentarim sometimes work with us, though more often that. I have met with members of other factions, and well - let's just say that your talents as a group haven't gone... unnoticed," he says.
"Griffdar, I have heard that name," Mirt says in response to Briga. "The Open Lord wanted me to mention if I saw him to let him know she wishes to meet with him personally at his earliest convenience," he says. "Though she did owe me a favour, hence why I got to meet you all first," he says with a wink.
"I do also have business with the rest of you, whether you decide to join us or not Tyrus, I would like to ask how the tavern is coming along, and to see if there's anything I can offer as an influencial contact in the city. Such as getting the guilds on your side, speaking to them to ensure you have all the correct licensing etc.
Of course, there is a price for such work, and in fairness, I couldn't do the job without having some representation within your company. So, the reason I wanted to speak to you all was I wanted to offer an investment, for a 20% share of the tavern ownership, in exchange you will have me to help you on the business side of things, and to ensure you have all the proper paperwork sorted out. I have been very successful with previous companies in the past - look at how successful the Yawning Portal is nowadays. Durnan has done a good job with the place, but if it wasn't for my money and assistance, he would have been lost at what to do," he says with a chuckle.
Griff now heard his own name twice and starts to wander over, "Nice to meet you, Griffdar Goodwar. I believe I heard my name spoken over here. I felt compelled to introduce myself." Griff takes a slight bow

Tyrus looks at the others and then turns to Mirt and says, "Will you be excusing us for a moment."
He then pulls those of the others aside who wish to talk so they can do so without easily being overheard.
"A backer who knows the city and the guilds would be very useful," he begins and then lowers his voice, "But I can't be helping think that we be being drawn into something we might not be wanting to be involved with... All this talk of factions makes me nervous."

"A pleasure," Mirt replies. "I was just telling your friends that the Open Lord wanted to meet with you personally, and of course, it's a decision. Just know that I do have some work for you if you decide to accept," he says with a smile. "Paid work," he adds quickly.
To Tyrus in the sidebar, Briga says, "I know getting involved with politics is messy, fer sure, but that's how Waterdeep works. I tried flying solo as a badass lone wolf bounty hunter, and honestly I was barely getting by. You try to mix it up with anyone who's connected, here, you'd better have your own connections.
I was kind of blind sided when they offered it to me, but I'm planning on taking up the gauntlet, so to speak, and accepting the Order of the Gauntlet's offer of knighthood. We did a good thing, and we got a nice reward, a piece of property. Both of those things got people's attention.
If we're going to survive here, we can't do it alone. It's up to you, but I've got to go with Griff on this one. Connections are to the city what a strong tribe was to the Rheged barbarians. It's the difference between life and death."
"It might be seen as disrespectful not to go along with tradition in Waterdeep... Have you heard anything like that Briggs? Besides, I would love to be a knight... and from what I understand the Gauntlet seem like good people, maybe Tyrus you could come with me to meet with them to be put at ease."

Tyrus looks to Arlon, and realises that he already has connections to the city through his master—whoever that is.
"So, we will no longer be the Abandoned Dragons, each of us having a group to belong to," he says and then shrugs. "What about Mirt's offer to be a partner? Shall we take him up on that deal?"

To Griff, Briga answers, "I don't know if I'd say it's disrespectful exactly, to turn down that kind of offer, it's just not a good long term survival strategy in Waterdeep. Plenty of drifters don't want to get tied down, but taking part in groups shows your commitment to the city, people tend to see that as being more dependable, than someone who doesn't want to put down roots or have any ties, if you get my drift."
To Tyrus, Briga says, "You're so right, not so abandoned anymore, are we? It still sounds better than the 'found dragons.' That makes us sound like coins someone found lying around in the street. Which isn't all that wrong, I mean, finding valuable things in the most unlikely places, that's kind of us, I guess. It just doesn't have the same ring as Abandoned Dragons."
Mirt peers over in your direction to see how the discussions are going, doesn't come over, or look like his listening, just checking to see how the discussion is going and if your headed back his way.
"He probably knows a heck of a lot more about running a business than we do, I'd wager," Briga says. "Also, having an established adventurer turned businessman tied in with our, well, our brand, sure couldn't hurt make us seem more legit. If there's no objections, I'd say we agree. Though I think some negotiation would be good, first. In fact, I think he'll respect us more if we bargain at least a little. Maybe start at 5 percent, hope he'll counter at 15, and settle at 10? I'll leave the talking to someone more tactful than Briga Burningblood."
"I be happy to do the bargaining," says Tyrus quickly, "but I don't see him settling for anything less than the 20% he asked for. He clearly wants to be an equal partner."
Tyrus then thinks for a moment and then adds, "What we have to be being careful about is 20% of what? Does this agreement only cover the tavern, or do it include our... other activities, such as hunting the Viper. If not, then we'll need to be careful about keeping the two things separate."

"I would assume our tavern business is it's own thing, separate from any adventuring company work, but be sure to read the fine print," Briga says. "Heck, we don't have a lot of great leads. If Mirt can provide something solid and he's willing to come out of retirement and throw his sword in on this, I'd be willing to cut him in, but I suspect he's gone civilian."
Mirt continues waiting for the group to come back, as he looks once again toward the stage, giving a glance at one point to see if you had discussed all you need, and turns back. The theatre is beginning to refill as the interval comes to an end in around five more minutes.
Tyrus gives Mirt an apologetic wave and then says to the others, "We be needing to hurry up and make a decision. I think the fat lady wants to start singing again."
