"Then it's settled. Abraxas, help me grab as many important documents as we can carry. We should get these to the guard. Then they can do their whole invasion thing, and we can get back on track with the whole end of the world thing going on."
After a quick investigation, Abraxas deduces from the days mentioned and the age of the documents that the plans were likely scheduled to take place months ago.
OOC: If we're ready to return to Ruskivek, let's determine a marching order for the journey back, and, if anybody in the middle ranks would like to do an activity (foraging, making a map of your travels, etc.)
Abraxas raises a finger. "Um," he says, "The last time we were in Ruskivek was how long ago? This plan may have been for months in the past." He rubs his chin. "We still ought to go back, however." Abraxas plans to travel in the middle of the party. He'll try to talk to Denisha as they go. Would she be willing to trade spells?
Denisha would be happy to trade spells, except, as she explains with watering eyes, "Unfortunately they left me with nothing in that hole. I know not where my spellbook is, and...it might sound awfully foolish of me, but I don't have a copy either. We all just graduated."
OOC: Need a place in the marching order for Harmony, Olive, and Jove, and then I can advance toward Ruskivek.
Jove is in the back! Walking backwards while Caiphon looks forward, steering his master by his hair, invisibly.
OOC: I realize I never mentioned this. My weekends are the toughest times to post for me. So don't be alarmed if you don't hear from me for a day or two on the weekends! I shall return on Monday for sure!

Harmony Survival: 4 Aisha Survival: 8
Denisha is saddened, but understanding, of your desire to return to Ruskivek without her companions in tow. "You weren't able to find them? Of course, the safety of an entire city matters more than the lives of a few, but...I guess I'm going to have to live with that," she comments with watery eyes.
The journey back is long, as Harmony has trouble leading the group out the forests that surround the ruins of Xagafell, but once outside of those bounds, a quick course correction puts you back on track. Game is scarce in the forest and foothills, but plentiful in the farmlands and lake along the way to Ruskivek, and Aisha is able to hunt and gather enough to slate your hunger through the majority of the trek. Denisha settles into a silence as time passes from the trauma of her circumstances, but is amicable if approached and spoken to.
Fifteen days later, you reach the now-familiar farms and villages that dot the surrounding countryside, and approach the gates of Ruskivek.
Ruskivek Known Locations: The Laughing Rhino (Inn/Tavern) The Order of Thalassa (Arcane Guild)
OOC: Each character has gained the benefits of a long rest.
Three days of rations have been removed from each character's inventory (includes rations spent for Denisha). Aisha was one day short, if someone would like to share with her.
(OOC - If it came down to it, Aisha would use Goodberry for food in an emergency)
Aisha nods and says We should turn in the documents we found, including this one.. she says, pulling out the map she had found in one of the locations, but would continue But this one believes that we should simply head for the gate to turn in Dene... Denieis.. Denny... If her brrrother is a guard... we inform the gate guards.... as they will probably know where he is.
"I think returning Dennis is the best plan of action. After we talk to some guards and get this whole minor invasion plan taken care of, we can focus on the fate of the world."
(OCC: Harmony would have shared her rations with Aisha if needed.)
Harmony was saddened by how sad Denisha is that they couldn't rescue her friends, feeling terrible. Finally they had made it back to Ruskivek, hearing the others talk about what to do right now. She listened as some of the others were getting Denisha's name wrong and saying that they should turn her in first, nodding back in agreement. "Yeah, let's get Denisha home to her brother Fritjof." she had said back to them all. While on the way to the guards, Harmony would hug Denisha close. "I am so sorry that we couldn't find your friends. I feel terrible about having left without finding them. But I imagine that they would have wanted you to be home safe and to be happy. So live on for their sake and become a great wizard, okay?" Harmony would have quietly said to Denisha, smiling gently as she tried to reassure and comfort her. Then she would use Minor Illusion to conjure up a sleeping kitten in her hand to try to cheer Denisha up as well.
Abraxas has the maps and plans over to Fritjof, but then seeing how overwhelmed he is at the sight of his sister, gives them to his supervisor. Abraxas explains in great detail how significant the plans are and encourages the guard to take them seriously.
"Back to saving the world," he says to his colleagues, "or was there anything else first?"
"My brother's post was at the north end of town when I left. We could try to find him there," Denisha explains after scoffing at being called Dennis.
The cat-like populace that dominates Ruskivek is out in full in the afternoon when you arrive, bumping and jostling their way through the city square, where dwarves and gnomes hawk their wares at several stalls. Eventually, you reach the guard station at the northern gate, easily spotting the curly mop of Captain Fritjof. His spear clatters to the ground when he spots you.
"Yeah, it's me, Frit..."Denisha chuckles shyly, accepting the running hug from her brother, and sharing in his tears.
"You did it," he chokes, stopping as Abraxas holds a map in his face. "I am the guard captain. I am the supervisor," he deadpans, back to his old self. He studies the map, carrying it and the notes to a nearby table. "This is an exact duplicate of the map we found in the sewers when we raided the goblin lair. Where did you find this?"
He looks over the plans with worry. "I honestly can't tell if this should trouble me or not. We never took the Vandyrian creatures seriously, they've plagued the Varokaj Fallen Lands for years. Did they expect us to think the ones they planted were any more danger? And who are they? Any information you have will help. They may not have succeeded, but these are plans to infiltrate Ruskivek, and I would see whoever made them destroyed," he says.
Aisha would look around idly, and bored, until 'Frit' begins to ask his questions. Giving him a smirk before saying Ohhhhh? Nyot a threat? Perhaps you would wish to face 1000 mice alone? Purrhaps if you werre a mage? but as a warrior.... you would be overwhelmed. The most common mistake made by... any race, though particularly by humans, is they underestimate a thrreat because they are 'savages' or they are 'weak' or 'styupid ' or some other excuse. And it isn't until they are overrun, their families slaughtered before their eyes by those very beings which they dismissed. Aisha is nyot smart. She is willing to admit this, but Aisha is wise. Aisha has learned her peoples history, as is her peoples culture.. to learn from the past to imprrove the future. So here is a story from my homeland, from long.. long ago... A war god you will likely have nyever heard of sent his people to my peoples island, attempting to conquer the local savages, the Tabaxi. Despite their numbers, their blessings, and their 'superiority' they were routed, and destrroyed utterly. A few allowed to escape to warn against future attempts to 'cull the savages.'
Aisha is not threatening you, but making sure you understand. Pride comes before a fall. No matter how weak a creature may be by itself.... in force... they can overwhelm even drragons. So yes, Aisha believes you should take this farr more seriously. Else this town may have new citizens in the future. Now.. Aisha feels she must also say this.... Aisha was fully aware she was being harsh, and her expression showed that she didn't care - as her eyelids were low, flat, and serious, and her lips pursed, and thin. Aisha does nyot recall if this was mentioned to you specifically, but we are dealing with something far greater than even this city, from what Aisha has been told, though she does not feel you need to be informed of the details. Searching for your lost sister has cost us precious time, and we have gained very little. In fact.. now that Aisha thinks about it you never offered a single thing.... You just kept going on about how the militia was stretched thin, and begging us to search. But if we fail in our mission, you will be at fault for a infinitely greater amount of suffering than your sister went through. SO enjoy your time with her, this one means it. But what will you give us for putting our mission on hold? Hmm? What can you offer? We are in dire need of certain specific supplies that are out of our current price range. And Aisha assures you our mission benefits everyone. So we saved your sister, as promised. What do you have to offer as compensation for lost time for a mission of world level importance?
As if sensing her mistress disdain, Tsavi tenses, and growls deeply, but doesn't appear to be threatening, but rather reacting to Aisha's mood. Aisha Also feels the need to make sure you understand, that Aisha is speaking her own mind. And is not reprresenting the consensus of the group. Aisha speaks only for herself in this.
((OOC - I did look back but didn't see any offer of reward, which is why Aisha is reacting, but if i simply forgot or didn't see it, it's due to her memory being wrong, rather than him not offering anything - I also feel Aisha's been vague enough to not make him go 'oh gosh the world is ending?!'))
"I'll have you know I was planning to obtain a reward for you," Fritjof answers, "Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled beyond expectation that you brought my sister back me, yet I must say I find myself disappointed. Was this not about saving the life of a young girl in over her head? Were you only in this for the money, then?" He shakes his head, "I need to see what I can muster. Now that Denisha is returned, I don't believe the city will mind opening its coffers. Mayor Cheval loves heaping praise upon heroics. I am meeting with him in the morning. You can accompany me if you wish, or I will leave your reward at the Order if you wish."
Aisha shakes her head and sighs looking at him. She was clearly not mad at the man. But she had a visible frustration behind her eyes, though it wasn't clear what it was about specifically, she was about to tell him what it was. Of course it was not 'only for the money.' But Aisha was against it from the start. There are greater things at play than a single person. While she may mean the whole worrld to you, if you knew that sacrificing your sister would save .. lets say.. an entire continent, and every civilization on that coninent, or you could save her, but that continent would be annihilated, what would you choose? One for all, or all for one?
This one is nyot without empathy. Aisha's sister, Rajiira has gone missing for years, last seen on one of the most dangerous places in the world. But unlike you, I seek her myself, and did not ask for the aid of others. Right now is a different story, but you didn't even offer to join us. You wanted someone else to solve problems you weren't willing to solve yourself. If you had atleast joined us, Aisha would have much more respect for you. But as it stands, I see a person who begged strangers to solve his own problems and was not willimg to do more than that himself. In fact everything Aisha is doing right nyow, is all for for seeking my sister myself. But ask this one's companions; Has Aisha asked them for help with this? Has Aisha even brought it up until nyow? Ask them. Aisha dares you. This tiny kitten is more willing to do something for her family than you are. Aisha wishes she could tell you more, but you may have hindered our group enough that us saving your sister is only a temporary....
Aisha would sigh, cutting off her own words before she gave away too much, since the group seemed to want to keep the apocalypse a secret. Which would make sense to most, but not to Aisha. She didn't quite understand the implications it could have. But what we are doing, is to help everyone, Aisha simply happens to also gain for her own objective of finding her sister again by doing so. So Aisha understands your desire. But we are woefully under-prepared. We have supplies equivalent to frresh adventurers at best, and we need better supplies. And this one is used to providing a great benefit to someone only to be shown a pittance. Aisha apologizes if it seems she is ..... whats the worrd.... unexpectant, but AIsha has seen too many times the reward nyot match the risk.
