When Abraxas wakes, he stands, stretches, listens to his joints popping. Downstairs, he has a quick breakfast while waiting for his colleagues, reads Avernus Burns: Volume Three of A History of the Blood War. Once everyone has gathered, unless there are other things the party needs to do, he heads toward the order and the teleportation circle to Vandyr.
He imagines and hopes they will all bump into Aisha along the way, perhaps while she is talking to Mitsi.
Jove walks downstairs and playfully casts minor illusion to have Abraxas's book burst into flames for a moment. He laughs at his reaction, then gets down to business. "Haha! Oh that was a good one. I needed that after my meditation session.
Friend, I would like some of your help researching something in the library. I want to know if there was ever a time Vandyr wasn't barren. If it used to have rivers and lakes. I am hoping historically it did; if not, I really hope you like water slides."
Abraxas pounds his flaming book out before realizing it was an illusion. Eventually, he sees Jove. "Ah," he says. "Avernus Burns. Flame. I get it! Very good, by Jove."
He listens to Jove's research request. "Hmm. Yes," he says. "Have you seen surfing? A special kind of magic. Let's leave a note at the bar for the others and see what we can discover about water on Vandyr."
With Jove, he heads toward the library and once there begins investigating the history of Vandry: 16, including asking Mitsi about the topic.
Harmony woke up that morning, well rested and refreshing after the amazing concert she put on here at the inn. She got all dolled up and ready as usual, heading downstairs to get some breakfast with the others. But as she sat down, Aisha was not here and she found a note from Jove and Abraxas saying that they went to the library, sighing. Guess she must have just missed them, surprised that they didn't want to head to Vandyr right away and hoped that they would get get to go soon while it's still daytime. Harmony was eating breakfast as she waited for Olive and hoped that she hadn't missed her too, wondering what she wanted to do.
"Not surfing, just a bad dream of sorts. Then a few thoughts after it." Jove looks a bit shook from the dream, and looks past Abraxas instead of directly at him.
OOC: Added a sack and removed 1 cp from Aisha's inventory.
Aisha catches Fritjof moments before he is ready to head out. The two saunter across Ruskivek to the city hall, and are escorted through a grand ballroom. High upon its walls are the massive mounted heads of a basilisk, hydra, and wyvern. "The winners of last year's hunt," Fritjof explains.
In the mayor's office, Fritjof begs Aisha wait outside for a moment, then speaks with the mayor by himself for almost an hour before the door opens again. Fritjof exits, looking more displeased than usual, and motions for Aisha to take his place. Inside, the mayor sits, an older, paunchy man with a gaudy mustache and nervous, fidgeting fingers.
"Captain Fritjof tells me you found his sister. A bit foolish of you to rush into ruins full of potential enemies for a foolish girl, but I suppose that's what you adventuring types do, isn't it? Ruskivek is a large region, and with the trouble in Varokaj, we can't afford to spread our guards so widely, but it appears you have done what they cannot, on multiple occasions. Captain Fritjof says you would like a reward. I'm afraid I have no gold to offer you; the last of this year's budget went to the hunt, against the wishes of my council. However, I do believe you have earned a reward for your actions, and I would like to offer you one. Galanov Manor sits empty at the edge of the city: A ten room manse that has been unoccupied. Its roof is in need of some repair, but with our city's coffers as dusty as they are, it's unlikely that we will be able to replace it any time soon. Rather than have an unoccupied manor looming at the edge of the city like a ghostly edifice, I offer its deed to you as your reward. A base of operations, if you will," he says.

Meanwhile, Jove and Abraxas spend time in the libraries of the Order of Thalassa and speaking with Mitsi, seeking knowledge of Vandyr's history. From texts, they find numerous mentions of lakes and rivers flowing throughout the moon, and consistent descriptions of its warm climate. Mitsi explains that Vandyr has been mostly barren as long as she can remember, but particularly so during the last few years, when the Orb of the Magi was working its magic upon the land, expanding desolation and heat from its perch in the ziggurat. As far as she knows, there may still be some small bodies of water on the moon, but people rarely explore far enough to find them.
"Sorry to hear of your troubled sleep, Jove," Abraxas says. "If you're comfortable doing so, tell me about your dream."
As they finish their research, Abraxas will recommend that they go looking for the others. "It is time to return to Vandyr and, if possible, return water to it."
Olive wakes up later than everyone and heads down to get some breakfast, hoping that someone stayed behind. She smiles when she sees Harmony down there waiting for her. "Good Morning, Harmony."

Aisha seems somewhat disappointed by Fritjolfs disappointment. But she didn't berate the man further. He had already proven to be disappointing. She held this opinion to herself and kept her face a mask, simply nodding. While he had been away, Aisha had sized up the previous years 'winners' to get an idea of how 'big' the beast had to be to 'win.' Aisha then heading into the mayors office. Listening to him go on about the coffers being bare and mentally rolls her eyes, but keeps this to herself.. not wanting to ruing the 'appearances' of the group, as it being so positive gave them more opportunities, than if it were negative. When the man offers a 'Manse' or rather a 'deed' to a manse and at first she has no idea what he's talking about, until she realizes.... Ah.. a very large house...she whispers to herself.
While this wasn't quite the reward she was looking for.... it could benefit everyone, giving everyone a place to put their things.... A safe place to store their items.... And Aisha has the tools to repair the roof... should they be able to get the supplies.
Aisha will be honest with you. Aisha is the newest member if this grrroup. And has thus far only helped with the .. two most recent exploits, however, Aisha is the only one who saw it prudent to show up in purrson. Aisha will accept this rrewarrd on behalf of her grroup. But Aisha wishes to see if she can bend the bar just a little more.... Is there purrhaps any way we could... borrrow or convince you to convince... a pair of people .... to assist us with house duties? Aisha cnanot remember what they are called in your peoples tongue? Something akin to retainers... Some people to maintain the house while we arre nyot there, to cook us meals, and allow us to focus on our .. heroic tasks. Just two people. Whether from your own service, or elsewheyr. Is this feasable as an addition to our reward? Aisha, after receiving her answer, would take the deed that had been offered. Pocketing it within her pack. And after looking around the mayors office, would depart, with a heavy mind - Heading back to the Order of Thallassa, as she expected that was where everyone would likely be, or go to next.
Unless something happened on the way there, when Aisha arrived at the order, Tsavi in tow as usual. Whenever the party was finally, fully together, Aisha would say Whoever has Aisha's rope... May she have it back? Aisha has a plan to overcome her issue of strength. And Aisha has several things to discuss with you all. Aisha would then look for the nearest table large enough to 'house' everyone. This one has come across several things, she feels need to be discussed.. Waiting then for everyone who was willing to listen to gather around. Aisha has collected our reward. It.. is nyot money or items. But rather a 'Mansh' or as you all know htem as.. Very Large Houses. Aisha believes it was mentioned that it posessed 10 rooms. Which is more than the number within our group. Which means we have two choices... We can use this as a base of operations, and no longer need to spend gold on the tavern to rest. Or.... We can try to sell it.... and get a financial boon to the parties coffers. Though the rrrrrroof is apparently damaged, meaning we may or may nyot be able to get very much. Aisha will leave this up to the grroup to decide what to do with it by vote.
Aisha then shifts positions, as Tsavi lays down, relaxing. Aisha's expression becoming much more serious. Her elbows now laying across the tabletop, as she rests her chin eyes closing. Finally speaking to those who were listening, if any. Aisha has come to a realization. We have nyo idea when this 'apocalypse' you have all seen will take place. Aisha has had no such drrreams herself yet. Before we left to seek the sister of the guard captain, Aisha had spoken to Mitsi, to seek out powerful items and she came up with a lead .. which i must ask her something about before we do what we all wish to do... now that this one remembers it. But Aisha reached out to her patron, the Cat Lord, the diety of her peoples. And she was answered.... Though overall vague, Aisha was pulled in the direction of this lead Mitsi has brought us. And Aisha does nyot feel if the world were in imminent danger that her lord would pull her in such a fashion.
Mitsi told me about a place, near the edge of this world.. Called uh... Lyrakiv... Barring issues, it would takes us around two months to get there, and two months back. Plus the whatever time it took while we were there. Meaning this .. side quest would take half a year... rrroughly. Aisha realizes she is being hypocritical regarding fritjolf. but as Aisha said, she does not feel that her patron would pull her in such a way if it meant dooming ourselves.
The lead being that there is an ancient tower or ruin which posesses many powerful artifacts of 'light' and the city does nyot wish these to fall into the 'wrong hands.' Whatever we find, we can either keep, or return to the city for a reward of some kind. Aisha feels inclined to go .. Aisha does not feel we are prepared for whatever is to come. For if whatever it is that will cause the end of the world it is very likely to be beyond normal adventurers powers and purrowess. If we can get these.. Aisha feels confident that we can then handle whatever may come after.
As Aisha searches her memories, she remembers that each moon has a teleporter controlled by the order representing it. Sadly, Aisha realized her plan for a potential shortcut was wrong... most likely. Aisha thought there might have been a teleporter from here to skogyr.. and then.. from that moon to the city ... but nya.....
You have heard what aisha has to say, and her prroposal. What say you all?
Harmony was so glad to see as Olive came down, hearing her. "Good morning to you too, Olive. The others got a head start on us as Jove and Abraxas left a note of how they're going to the library and I'm not sure where Aisha is. Hopefully we'll be on our way to Vandyr soon while it's still daylight out today." she then said back to her with a smile. The group spent a lot of time helping out Fritjof and Denisha, so they should really get back to saving the world after all.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Aisha Persuasion:15
The mayor squints, thinking on Aisha's request, and after a moment, says, "I suppose the adventuring life makes it difficult to look after a home, doesn't it. Very well. I will not make any of my staff available to you, but I will see what I can do otherwise. You will have to give me time, however."
OOC: It sounds like most want to head to Vandyr next, but nobody has reacted to Aisha's proposal yet, so waiting for more input before I advance. Regardless of whether you meet in the inn or at the Order, it is early in the evening when you meet back up.
Jove is quite excited about the deed. He puts his hands up to his chin with his pointer fingers across his lips. "Good. This is good. Now that we have a base, we are going to need codenames. I would like to be called "Far-Reacher Darkbane", and Caiphon can be called "The Invisible Hand of Darkbane, Darkbane's Son." Yes these will do nicely. "
He then hears Aisha's concerns and proposal. He gets a bit more meek. "Maybe we should check out this new house of ours and have a group chat. I have come to the same conclusion that the timeline of these events is troublesome, and prying eyes and ears might not be the nicest thing for the OOMS-DAY-DAY thing..."
If they want to travel to the new house, that is great. Either way, he will talk about his dream. "So. Last night I had a rather scary dream. I don't really remember my dreams all that much, so this one is really weird. There was some water on the moon, like lakes and rivers of water. Which is why I went to research the history of Vandyr. It seems there used to be water there. Then the dream changed to a giant tidal wave flood that wiped out a civilization. So at first I thought that was the doomsday scenario, but maybe it happened in the past? I'm not sure. We need answers."
He smiles at Aisha. "Which is why we have the smart cat in the group. Tsavi came up with a great plan. (obviously joking towards Aisha). We can gather information while powering ourselves up with helpful items. If there is a city on the moon, there should be people there, or at least remnants of past people, that could help us out. What do you all think?"
“Hmm,” Abraxas says. “The house is very interesting. Much of me would like to explore it. But isn’t a threat to the world important as well? Even if the end of the world is a week away, we don’t know how long preventing it will take. Nine days, for example, would be a problem. Therefore, I suggest the moon. As soon as we can, if not sooner. “
After eating with Olive, Harmony would have thought that maybe the others might be at the Order, suggesting this to Olive and going with her down there. When they got there, she was glad to see that she had been right as Aisha, Abraxas, and Jove were at the Order as well. Aisha mentioned that she had some important things to discuss with them all, nodding back as she sat down at a table along with the others. She listened as Aisha had collected their reward for them, shocked to hear that it was a mansion and had ten rooms. "A mansion?!! Yay, I call dibs on decorating the inside! Finally, I get my own room that I can decorate however I want without being yelled at!" Harmony cheered with the biggest grin before hearing Aisha say that they can either use it as a base of operations to keep from spending gold at the tavern or they could sell it to get a lot of money though not as much due to the roof in need of repair. "We have to keep it! It's not everyday that we get a mansion as a reward after all. It just needs some love and care to make it our own." she had said back to them, giggling as she heard Jove talk about codenames. But then Harmony saw Aisha look serious before hearing her talk about how she doesn't quite know of the apocalypse that they know and that she had been looking for powerful items, having gotten a lead from Mitsi. Even her Cat Lord was pulling her in the direction of that lead, a place near the edge of the world but that it would take roughly half a year to do this. But the lead has to do with a tower or ruin possessing many artifacts of light that would be bad to let fall into evil hands, how they can keep them or return them for a reward. Aisha was saying that she wants to go because she doesn't think that they are ready to face what is to come, believing that it's beyond normal adventurers' powers but with the artifacts that they could handle it. Harmony was thinking hard about this when she heard Jove talk about his dream, how there was water on the moon since apparently there used to be water there before it changed to a giant tidal wave flood that wiped out a civilization, thinking that it may be from the past. "While those artifacts would be nice to have, six months is a very long time and I don't think that we would have been summoned by gods so desperately if the apocalypse wasn't quickly approaching. Maybe that flood did happen in the past and the dream is telling us that history might repeat itself again if we don't stop the ritual. Abraxas is right, it could also take us a while to prevent it as well. So we really should go to Vandyr as soon as possible." she then said back to everyone, knowing that they really should get back to what they need to do.
"It's good that we have a new house now. It means that we can give Harmony a break from having to perform at taverns all the time." She looks at Jove weird when he talks about codenames. "I'm going to keep going by Olive." She agrees with Abraxas and Harmony when they talk about going to Vandyr instead of getting the artifacts. "Aye, if we had a way to get to teleport to those artifacts and teleport back so that we aren't burning four months, I'd agree with it. But we don't, so I'm not."

Aisha eyes would dim a bit. Certainly they had all overcame quite a bit both before and after she arrived with the group. But if this was something that deities had summoned others to prevent the enemies must be just as overwhelming.... And ever since the shadows had attacked her.. she has been getting more and more worried.. more alert... some would call it paranoid to a degree, though she clearly hadn't snapped. Tsavi looked to her mistress, and the group, and grunted the way felines are wont to do. With a final sigh, Aisha nodded and acquiesces. Two votes against three.. it seems we have our course of action... though Aisha is wary that this is wise. If only we knew.. atleast generally, when this calamity was supposed to happen.... With full resignation, Aisha would raise a finger. Allow Aisha several more hours... She needs to do a little more stocking... We should be able to leave by midnight... and the shops are soon to close.... It would be unwise to go in unprepared.
Unless someone objected, Aisha would make her way to the desk, or to wherever Mitsi was at that moment, and show Mitsi the Deed, saying Aisha wishes to show you this only as.. insurance. It was a reward from the Mayor himself to our group. This may seem odd.. but just in case.... someone tries to claim it is stolen, or pretends to own it that is nyot us. And Mitsi.. while we are gone... Please look a bit more into that Orb we returned... see if it's properties are...trans... tans... can be rrreplicated.... and placed onto other things..... Aisha hoping the curiosity that might spark would make Mitsi forget to ask for payment, Aisha would swiftly head out, using her natural agility so as not to waste time - and try to find a shop selling rations, buying 15 total. And, before leaving the shop, would take her rope, that had been returned, and cutting it into smaller parts..... trying them together into a special sort of harness around Tsavi, an then, using the bindings that normally were used to tie the top shut and attach to a belt... one of her sacks to each side of Tsavi. The feline protesting a bit, but never disobeying. By the time she was done ,Tsavi would have both sacks filled with Aisha's smaller supplies, her toolkits, namely, as well as other smaller instruments.
(Intention of the harness.. to take some weight off of Aisha's back, and give her roughly 60 additional LB's of carry weight, and as Tsavi has a STR score of 14 (x 15 = 210 LB carry capacity it shouldn't hinder Tsavi much, if at all)
After which, Aisha would return to the group as swiftly as possible, so they could get on with a good nights rest, or a hard nights work.
OOC: Aisha paid Mitsi for the research on magical items up front.
Added 15 days of rations to Aisha's inventory and removed 7 gp and 5 sp.
"He just gave you the manor?" Mitsi asks Aisha incredulously. "Don't worry about the Orb, it's in safe custody. It attunes to the land around it. When it was active on Vandyr, it worsened its volcanic heat, but here in Ruskivek it creates a calmer climate and brings superior crops to the farms around the city."
OOC: Are we heading to Vandyr immediately? The timing here is up to the party, as mentioned it is late evening when you meet back up (late evening when Aisha returns from shopping).
(posting soon, RL to finish up with - Also to clarify I know Mitsi was paid up front for the tip, but aisha is essentially askign them o see if the orb's effect is replicatable.... Like to enchant onto something else so say a sword in a volcanic area that then emits fire, etc))
Aisha would nod to Mitsi Yes. THis one was surprised as well, but he said it was a proper reward for what we had managed to do, and Who is this one to complain? she shrugs, patting Mitsi's shoulder. Hopefully you understand the reason Aisha has told you this. You can be a witness to our claim should someone attempt to challenge it!
(Aisha votes leaving now)

Back at the teleportation stone, Abraxas says, "I think we are ready. To the moon and beyond," he says and steps back to Vandyr.
Does he feel the same compulsion as he did last trip?
Death on the Water and Baldur's Gate Bodyguard
See my profile for all my PbP threads!
