Alten will edge 5 or 10 feet into the room and try to get a better look at the whole space. See if he can see whatever we heard earlier. 60' darkvision should give cover the space
Glaive is at the ready.
As you enter you realize that this is not part of the citadel. The inside appears cave-like. The citadel must have fallen into a cave network of some sort when it sunk into the ravine and this is perhaps an entrance. You believe you have found the source of the chittering when you take another few steps forward. To the east there are a pair of large nests with a giant rat in each of them. The further you go into the cave the worse it smells. You also now hear some sort of grunting, wheezing, or perhaps snoring sound coming from even further back.
Arxius will follow Alten in given her darkvision though stays behind him with her longbow at the ready. The louder sound draws her attention though. "That sounds a lot bigger than rats," she whispers in Alten's ear.
Rees frowns, hoping they weren’t about to stumble into the den of another dragon. Whatever was down there hadn’t seemed to notice them yet, which was a plus. She waves her hand to get Arxius’ attention, then presses a finger to her lips to indicate they should be quiet and sneaky. Next she points to herself, then walks her fingers forward, eyebrows raised. It was a crude sort of sign language that Arxius should be able to recognize as her asking if she thinks Rees ought to sneak ahead and scope things out.
Noting Rees signing, Arxius gives a small nod and taps her finger against her bowstring to let her know she has her back. She'll move into a better position and hold an attack for the first thing that jumps out at Rees... if anything.
Arxius and Rees quietly creep deeper into the cave. The rats — which are the size of terriers — seem not to notice you as you do so. When you pass the fringes of their nests you are able to see there is another recess in the cave wall towards the back of the cave. Here you can see by the light from glowing fungus a niche along the eastern wall, which holds a pallet of matted furs, a wide wooden board on which a variety of weapons are affixed, and a great cloak of patchy black fur hung on a slender pole.
You also find the source of the louder noise laying atop the pile of furs. A large furry goblinoid looking creature wearing an antlered crown appears to be asleep before you. In between his snores you hear, “Grhhhmn.. into cook pot with ya!”
Hearing a voice in his head ask what the plan is, (remembering the message spell) Talien turns to Grom and says The plan is to find the wand.
