Rees to the south in the room behind where the dead goblin archers lay dead you hear a tune. Whether it is a hum, a whistle, or an instrument you’re not quite sure, but it doesn’t sound as if it is coming from a goblin or a Bugbear...
Alten gives Arxius a hard look after her comment, but lets it slide. He will use Divine Sense to also aid in determining if there is anything else in the immediate vicinity. I'll walk towards where the attackers were coming from in order to max the 60' range, but I'm not leaving the current location or getting out of sight of the group.
Nothing catches your interest in the northern part of the room, but when you get to the south you also hear some sort of tune... You know it’s not evil, but can’t quite determine what it is without going into the room behind the dead goblins.
"Alten... there's music or something coming from over there. Perhaps you gentlemen can check it out while I speak to Arxius?"
Rees will follow Arxius' gaze toward the lab and give her a knowing, but sad nod, moving away from the rest of the group regardless of whether or not they decide to investigate the sound. "We'll meet back up with you in the city? If you have to go further...you know how to leave me word and I'll catch up to you. I promise." She takes a deep breath and pulls the jade dragon statue that Calcryx gave her from her bag, handing it to Arxius. "Keep this safe for me? You can give it back when we see each other again."
Arxius averts your eyes for a moment, but cannot hide the single tear running down her battle hardened cheek from your knowing stare.
The tear seems to take forever to fall to the ground, but when it finally does it creates a starburst in the dust and Arxius long moment of silence is broken.
Strengthened by your words she smiles though her pain.
”Thank you for everything Rees. For your support.... and your understanding. Truly, I couldn’t ask for a better firmed,” She says as she takes the statue and embraces you for what feels like it could be the last time.
Meepo patters over with a look of concern. He croaks through wet eyes, “Where Arxius go??” Why you leave? Is it bad man who hurt you?”
She turns to Meepo, pats him on the head, and gives him a scratch under the chin.
”Take care of him won’t you Rees? I’ve grown quite fond of him,” She chuckles, “And you be good Meepo.. Rees will help you as much as she can”.
With that Corkie supporting Trick motions that you should leave. She turns to the group and says, “Come by the temple when you’re done here, I’ll hopefully have Trick here all patched up. Good luck and be careful!”
To the south somebody is singing very loudly in Dwarvish,
"Welê, wan statuyek nîşanî we da, ji we re gotin ku hûn dua bikin. Wan ji we re perestgehek çêkirin û we ji holê rakir. Aw, lê wan tu carî bihayê ku we didî nedan. Ji bo tiştên ku dibe ku we kiribûn. Em ne pir spehî ne em jî serbilind nabin. Dibe ku em hebkî pir bi qîrî dikenin. Aw lê ew ti carî êşa yekî nekir"
Well, they showed you a statue, told you to pray They built you a temple and locked you away Aw, but they never told you the price that you pay For things that you might have done
Only the good die young That's what I said Only the good die young Only the good die young
You might have heard I run with a dangerous crowd We ain't too pretty we ain't too proud We might be laughing a bit too loud Aw but that never hurt no one
Only the good die young That's what I said Only the good die young Only the good die young
The singing is followed by a lamentful yet shredding pan-pipe solo.

Rees doesn't cry as she splits from Arxius but her eyes red-rimmed from holding back and she's even more subdued than she was after revealing her past as a thief. She sticks close to Meepo and makes a point to keep her gaze away from Talien.
You enter the room to the south and find a mostly bare room... except for another of the iron cages you seem to keep finding scattered throughout the citadel.
The tune appears to becoming from within the cage....
@Teamplayer will you please describe what the other PCs see?
Rees doesn't cry as she splits from Arxius but her eyes red-rimmed from holding back and she's even more subdued than she was after revealing her past as a thief. She sticks close to Meepo and makes a point to keep her gaze away from Talien.
Meepo watches Arxius broken hearted as she leaves. His eyes well up with tears as he just stands there dumbfounded. He suddenly squeaks, “Wait!” And runs to Arxius. She stops and turns as he embraces her burring his head in her chest, “Meepo miss Arxius. Find again soon. Meepo take care of Rees until then!”
Arxius laughs and says, “Thank you Meepo. Be strong. Remember the lessons I’ve taught you.”
Meepo stands proud, then turns and heads back to Rees.
Arxius stands there for a moment gazing at Rees giving her a knowing look, then she too turns and leaves....
In the cage is a young man with elfish ears, but a more stout human body. His skin looks a somewhat sickly green. He is short enough to stand in his cage and he does so facing the entrance from where Grom is coming. He is a bit unsteady on his feet and seems to be swaying from side to side within his cage. He is shameless about his nudity, which is of mythical, kind of biologically unrealistic proportions, but it is unclear whether his shamelessness is due to his sickly state or his personality.
As soon as the young man hears Grom coming he starts to yell in common "You finally get hungry enough to eat me, you filthy animals! Well, come get me!" Then, when he sees Grom he says in Dwarfish, "What's this? A Dwarf? You would dishonor your clan by working for a monster like Balek?" and if Alten follows Grom he will then say in Elvish, "And an Elf? Have you no shame?"
Talien will give Arxius a hug as meepo did saying By friend. Until we meet again. and run to catch up with the others.
Arxius stands there awkwardly as you hug her from behind. She turns and says, "Please behave Talien... and be respectful of the others... especially Rees mind you."
The young man's demeanor softens a bit, but he remains suspicious.
"The name is Shake. Balek and his bestial thugs locked me up in this cage. Who the hell are you? And if you don't work for Balek what the hell are you doing in this hole?"
"C'mon, Meepo,"Rees murmurs to the kobold, following Alten into the room where she heard the music. Crossing her arms over her chest, she cocks her head to the side, studying the man in the cage. "We're working, just not for Balek. What'd you do to get locked up?"

(Would she recognize what Shake is?)
Nope, as far as the party is concerned this is another unfortunate soul locked up in the Citadel much like Calcryx, Corkie, and Trick were.
Meepo solemnly follows, his pattering feet echo in the chamber as a sad reminder of friends lost.
"I am a very famous bard who works in the neighboring town. Renowned for singing songs in all three languages, common, elvish and and dwarfish. Balek's goons captured me one day and brought me here to entertain him. The brute loves my singing. If you do anything to me he will be very angry. At best he'll fire you, at worst he'll let his goblin eat you."
In Dwarfish, "If I worked for Balek why would he lock me up naked in this filthy, stinking cage to wallow in my own filthy, stinking waste? Can you not smell me from over there? Who would chose to work in these conditions? Like a filthy beast." Shake looks angry and shakes his head a bit as if to punctuate his filth, but then his face perks up as a thought enters his head. In common, "If you don't work for Balek then who do you work for and what are you doing here?"
