"No, no, do not cry," Arxius says. Though it's a thin line between calming him for his own good and for her head. She moves closer to him, not really thinking about the rest of the group. "Perhaps - now that we are becoming friends - we could help you retrieve... Calcryx? Nothing can change if you stay here feeling sorry for yourself. However, if you want to we can help you? Meepo need not be ashamed."
Talien's eyes glow red at the mention of steeling and his voice booms. More thieves, I will end their existence if I ever find them and have then chance. He turns to Alten suddenly because he remembered. If I do kill them for stealing will that be breaking a law? Your land is odd in its laws, allowing stealing to be rampant it seems...It seems a higher penalty makes less crime in my land. I have only ever seen one case of anyone ever being put to death as a crime.
(I don't think our Kobold 'friend' will like my outburst and it may scare him but Talien does not understand he is....odd to say the least)
Hmm, Chatra's earlier jibes are waying on Alten's mind. In a horrifying lapse of training and focus, he finds himself staring more at Arxius' ass than focusing on the situation.

Rees groans at Talien's outburst, moving forward slightly and motioning to him to keep it down. "Talien,volume, please. Not only because we have a scared new friend here but also because who knows what else is lurking? Did your training not include anything about stealth?"
Talien stares at Rees for a moment, then says. There is nobody else here Rees, and I was not trained in stealth, I run up and kill things, ambushes I do understand but we have already entered the room so the ambush should have been sprung should it not? Feeling like he may not be fully correct in his assumption, he exits the room with the Kobald and sets alarms with bells and strings on the 2 unexplored doors.
If she can, Rees is going to stop him before he leaves the room since she's still by the door. She's not upset with him, just trying to figure out how to communicate in a way that's going to make sense when so many of her other attempts have failed. "Look, It's not all black and white, okay? He just said that someone took something from his tribe so we can assume that there's at least one other person who was here, right? We don't know for a fact that said person was alone or that they left. We also know that people who come to the citadel tend not to return - presumably, something is causing that. Subtlety is key while we explore this place, okay? Does that make sense?"
ooc - Also -- did Rees notice Alten checking out Arxius' "assets"?
{OOC - not if Rees was doing her job and paying attention to the potential threats. Unless she is checking Alten out. LOL. In all seriousness, I guess it depends on whether or not you would trust Alten and/or Talien to clear their sides of the room, whether you would be watching Arxius confront the "threat", or looking at the 10s and 2s for other threats. That assumes that Alten is at your 9 o'clock spot, Talien is at the 3 o'clock, and Arxius is at the 12 o'clock.

Talien says not fully understanding, I do not know what you mean by 'black and white', does this mean something to you Alten? It seems to me someone stole something from him and his own kind removed him from their presence, as the banishment would dictate. So I do not think the person who stole it would be here looking for him when they do not have to worry about him being an issue because he is banished. I was not trained in Subtlety or being Sneaky, but I will try to do better. I get angry at people that steal, I do not understand it. If something does not belong to you, you have no right to it. I clean things for others to keep my hands busy and working, but I always return it.

I don’t think anybody would have noticed Alten checking out Arxius as there was quite a bit going on. We’ll let the sly fox get away with it this time so to speak.

Meepo stops sobbing and wipes the mucus coming out of his oversized nostrils on the back of his hand. “Friends. Help find Calcryx?!” He exclaims excitedly in a shrill voice. “Yes! Yes! Friends help find Calcryx!”
What is a Keeper and why were you banished Meepo? You also said Calcryx was stolen by Goblins. Was Calcryx an icon or statue of Calcryx?
{Would it be common knowledge that Kobolds would typically worship and work for dragons? }
Meepo jumps back as Alten approaches, but Arxius says, “Friend” again which serves to disarm him for the moment and he responds to Alten’s inquiry.
“Meepo banished because Goblins stole Calcryx. Meepo supposed to watch Calcryx as Keeper. Calcryx icon. Calcryx god. Meepo take you to meet Yusdrayl, our leader, if you make nice. You get safe passage, if you promise to make nice. Maybe if you promise to rescue Calcryx, Yusdrayl make nice to you, answer more questions.”

Hot damn Nat 20! Alten you recall the following from your training...
Kobolds believe that they were created by Tiamat from the blood of dragons — a view supported by their reptilian (they would say draconic) appearance. In every kobold tribe, the legend of the creatures’ origin is passed down from elder to hatchling, giving each individual and every generation a reason to feel pride and self-respect. The kobolds prefer to run away than fight, to live off the scraps of others, and they are often dominated by larger humanoids, but they know that there is greatness within them and they are proud that they were chosen to be the blood-kin of dragons.
Kobolds willingly serve chromatic dragons and worship them as if they were demigods — mighty beings of divine descent. This isn’t a casual sort of worship or lip service; kobolds are awed in the presence of a dragon, as if an actual avatar of a deity were in their presence. Kobolds fall all over themselves to obey orders from a dragon, even if they are dangerous orders. Although kobolds usually don’t worship Tiamat directly, they recognize her as the dragon-goddess of all chromatic dragons, and as the master of their racial god, Kurtulmak.
Additionally since you focused real hard you recall some lore about Kurtulmak...
The god of kobolds was a vassal of Tiamat. When the gnome god Garl Glittergold stole a treasure from Tiamat’s hoard, she sent Kurtulmak to retrieve it. Garl lured his pursuer into a maze-like cavern, then collapsed the exits behind him, trapping Kurtulmak for all eternity.
Kurtulmak is a hateful deity, one who despises all life except for kobolds. He especially hates Garl Glittergold, gnomes, and fey creatures that enjoy playing pranks. He taught the first kobolds how to mine, tunnel, hide, and ambush. He is dominated by his emotions — intelligent, but not wise. Arrogant and prone to gloating, he carries grudges, has a huge chip on his shoulder, and spends a lot of time fashioning elaborate revenge scenarios against those who have disrespected him.
Alten steps back to be non-threatening and kneels down on one knee.
I am sorry for you loss little one. As a servant of my god, I know I would be devastated if something like that happened to me.
{It isn't clear to SDC - probably intentionally - if he was prisoner in the cage or if Calcyrx is a wyrmling or baby dragon that was kept in the cage and stollen. Is the cage big enough to hold the kobold?}
Pointing to the scratches
Did the goblins do that to you when they stole Calcyrx? How long ago it happen? Were you in the cage as a prisoner or was Calcyrix kept in the cage?
