The Redbrand looks at the knife wielding maniac, pursing his lips, but not wanting to die, massacred by these random people. Hands still up in sign of defeat, he would answer 'Es probably wiff the boss right now, or in the cell. I've been guardin out here for the last half-day.. so I couldn't say for sure. The boss is in the far back, an' the cells are uh... he's clearly looking like he's trying to explain directions to people who've never been to an area before... Ya gotsa go .. if he's in the cells, I mean, you gotsa take a hard right inside... and head that way till you can't no more. Then ya gotta go up the stairs... through the large door. After that it's a short hallway to the cells. There's prolly some people inside. Jes let me go.... Don't kill me, please?
Cirrus kneels to get on eye level with the guy, "I need you to be honest with me, put yourself in the shoes of your boss, and the shoes of your associates. If I were to tell you that the town would give you money and/or food in exchange for you directing your brutish strength towards defending the town from dangerous marauders, do you think the Redbrands would be willing to change their way of life to being protectors of Phandalin, rather than a local gang of thugs? or does your group much prefer taking advantage of those who cannot hope to defend themselves?" Cirrus has no weapon drawn, in an attempt to incite an honest answer. In the event that this Redbrand does lie to Cirrus, I will make an insight check to detect it: 12

You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
The mans mouth opens, and he croaks out a few noises, as if the question had seemed out of left field to him. His head rolling around in tiny circles, as his eyes shoot every which way, much as one does when both shocked and unsure how to answer. Auhh..... ??????? Maybe some o' the blokes? But thats always a possibility aint it then? Not tryina be smug captain, bu.. augh.... me ****in leg.... he doubles over in agony again, breathing hard as another small pulsing wave of pain shoots through him, luckily, this time, having nothing to bilge up. ...But you'd have ta convince em it was wirf more 'en constantly 'taxing' the town.... I mean no matter how good a person is mate, all people are driven by the same base desires n needs ya know? And everyone, even a goodie twoshoes paladin doesn't do something for nothing. Is should prolly explain that... Paladin, the hard, law abidin ones, the ones with sticks up their arses.... if you saw one savin a kid from bein murdered, but convinced him there was an entire orphanage under the same threat, he might try to save both.. but most like he'd try to save the orphanage over the one bloke, ya git me?
The man isn't lying, and Cirrus is fairly sure of it.
Cirrus stands back up, stroking his chin. "Well Bastille, it sounds as though your reservations about my plan were right. Now back to the matter at hand. He's been very compliant so far, and he had enough sense to know when he's been outmatched. I say we should reward that by not killing him. Now that begs the question, how do we let him off easy without him warning his friends? I could heal him and send him on his way, but I don't waste my magic on those who take advantage of others. He seems pretty immobilized right now. Perhaps we could gag him and roll him into some brush? I don't have anything that I could gag him with though."

OOC: Is the other guard still there? If so, Vimak is attempting to intimidate him physically, looming over him, ax high so he doesn't move, doesn't even try to escape the Entangle spell: 7.
"Tell him," Vimak says, "to take off his sock. If his hands are bound and it is stuffed in his mouth, he is gagged."
Bastille steps back and says, "If you wish to let him live, so be it. I personally think we should end him so he doesn't go warn the others. However, gagging and tying him may also work. However, be warned that he might pose a threat to us in the future."

Panic floods the mans features as it seems the group is heavily leaning towards killing him instead of allowing him to live. The man reaches into his pouch, and pulls out a vial of Acid, and he says to you I thought you'd be people o' yer word. But seems like ya aint.... then shouting Oi, trespass at the wall!14
then, lobbing the vial of acid at Cirrus' face. 12 missing.
Vimak pulls the man's sock off and stuffs it in his mouth. "Think your little tantrum can force us to kill you, do you?" He binds the man's wrist with the man's shirt and ties his legs with his pants. He puts him under the thickest foliage he can find.
If a moment of investigation leads him to the acid, he takes it: 7; if not, he moves into the cave stealthily: 10.
Despite Bastille readying herself, there was no commotion or clamor from within the cave. Apparently the mans words had been silenced by some force of nature within. Or everyone was out of earshot.
As Vimak attempts to force the sock into the mans mouth V 13 R 3 he can barely put up a fight and becomes gagged.
Vimak then leaving the entangled man behind to seek the vial, but after a few minutes with no luck, enters the cave, not quietly but not making more noise than usual.
Within the tunnel is dark, Vimaks vision going nearly black a few feet inside, as the light behind him casts his own shadow against the walls darkening them farther. But ahead, can be seen torchlight. Just enough to guide Vimak to the exit of this small passageway.
Bastille will watch the others leave. She will then look at the tied up man and shake her head disapprovingly before dispelling the vines and following the party.
Are there other distant torches within the cave? If not, Vimak examines the torch closest to him. Can it be taken off the wall and carried? If not, he will light one of his torches using it.
He waits for Bastille and Cirrus. Then, remembering the guard's words, he goes right over the bridge and along the wall.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Vimak approaches a torch on the massive, but crumbling pillar just next to the bridge. It can be tugged out of its holder with a little effort (no roll needed, its a pickle jar situation). As the flame moves into Vimaks hand he feels a clawing at his mind.
Cirrus stumbles his way into the cave, perhaps because of the raw darkness in the immediate vicinity, though he doesn't make 'too much' noise. Bastille, forgoing stealth entirely apparently being disgusted with the other two at having mercy on the broken legged redbrand.
Vimak confusedly scratches his head with his free hand.
(going to roll for you in this case for the sake of the post. 11 Vs 6)
The clawing intensifies for a moment before fading. But is soon replaced with a whispering voice in Vimak's head. Whispering, and Undulating. Vimak can hear the clawing of stone nearby, echoing softly in the wide tunnel, making pinpointing the noise as difficult as finding a hidden cricket in a room. The voice whispers to him within his head: Who are you~ Why do you come here~ What do you seek~ And what have you to offer.....~
Vimak's face slackens. He has no idea what is going on. He turns toward the others and touches Cirrus's elbow then whispers, "Are you talking to me? What do you mean who am I? You know we seek the kidnapped child . . ." He thinks for just a moment. "I'm not alone in my head Cirrus, Bastille. What is happening to me?" He might be beginning to panic. "Is this a demon? Am I possessed?"
Bastille steps forward with her dagger and says, "Where's the kid you kidnapped?"

OOC: I think I killed the other guard. Also, I forgot that I had wolves with me :D
Honestly, this kinda seems like a waste of time, I can't think of any real benefit to not killing the guy. Let's just kill him and move on.
