Our mission was to escort a wagon, Kata never said anything about escorting people. Also, we have no idea who these horses belong to, for all we know it could be bandits that have been attacked by Goblins.. All the information we have so far is that two bodies, dead or alive, have been dragged into the forest by what seems to be a band of goblins. While I don't care to much about who these people were for now, I do not like the idea of Goblins attacking travelers on this road... If you all want to take care of this business first, then perhaps we can setup a temporary camp off road, and leave the wagon there. Then, we can make sure these Goblins don't ever steal again.
Lavandula is now brooding. He is considering the options, and getting a feel on his comrades. He can learn a lot about people by the way they respond to unexpected turn of events such as this: Koga seems to be impatient, and may know more than he let's on, Fluxx's heart seems to be in the right place, and Sickle thinks he is more intimidating than he actually is.
“My mistake. You’re correct. We were to meet Rockseeker and his escort there. If you simply want to complete the job. I am with you. I had misremembered the request. I will gladly get these horses out of the way and continue.” Koga takes his hand off the brush and begins to ruffle through the goblins belongings.

Sickle shakes his head in disappointment as the goblin slumps down. He joins the others in searching the area, and as Koga reports his findings and the party debates the next step, he says, Why don’t we press on, take the wagon to Phandalin, and see if Rockseeker and his companion made it? If not, we can guess that this was them, and make a plan for what do then.
"What sickle says is probably the best idea we have. We transport the goods and on our way back to the guild we can investigate this situation further."
"Faster the better, we don't know how long those prisoners have left." And Fluxx will now take a position out towards the front next to the lead horse.
You continue to travel, pushing the speed as fast as you dare with a full wagon on an increasingly bumpy road. After a couple of hours, the trees on either side begin to thin and finally disappear as you reach a broad field, dotted with rocks. Ahead, you can see roughly forty or fifty buildings. Within the next half-hour, you arrive on the outskirts of the settlement, where stone ruins of olden foundations poke out of the ground, covered in briar and ivy, seeing a signpost that says “Phandalin” and continue to follow the path past wooden buildings built atop stone foundations.

Lavandula will enter Barthen's Provisions. He looks around the shop, and finds whoever is working there:
Hello, sorry to barge into this establishment at this time, I hope you are still open! We have been sent here to deliver some goods, all the way from Neverwinter. The wagon is just outside with my comrades, would you like us to bring it to the back of the store?
The lean, balding human man behind the counter is momentarily startled, “Ah...yes, yes, we’re still open. Elmer Barthen at your service. You have a delivery of goods from Neverwinter?” He turns away from Lavandula and shouts towards the back of the building, “Alder! Thistle! Wagon delivery out front!” Then turns back to you, “Sorry about that, wasn’t expecting the wagon to be delivered by strangers, I thought Gundren was supposed to be coming with it.”

Aah, Elmar Barthen! That name must mean you are the owner of Barthen's Provisions. I am Lavandula Angustia, member of the Bannered Blades.Lavandula announces with a small respectful bow. A certain Gundren Rockseeker hired the Guild for safe transportation of these goods to this location. Unfortunately, having never met this dwarf in person, this is all I know. We were told he left the night before the escort, I would assume he was heading here, but I cannot say for sure what his plans are. We were told that the payment for the delivery was to be paid out by the owner of this store, which is you.
He says all this in a calm, respectful manner, not demanding or enforcing anything.
@Sickle: Most people that pass do so closer towards the town centre, there aren’t many people on the particular stretch of road you’re currently on as it’s the entrance/exit road for the town. After a short while, though, a pair of young human lads with short dark hair appear from a door on the side of the building and walk over grinning, “Thanks for the delivery!”
“We’ll take it from here!” And they start unloading the wagon without waiting for a response from anyone.
@Lavandula: He nods at this, “Aye, this old place is mine, ‘tis a pleasure to meet you. A Bannered Blade, you say? Like old Reyrieth? Well, well, thought that guild had disbanded years ago, Reyrieth’s always talking about it, but no one really comes to visit her so I just assumed... anyway, forgive my ramblings. Your pay,” And he hands over 60 gold coins in a small coin purse, then he looks worried, “You say Gundren set off before you? Well, surely he’d have headed here, his brothers are camped outside of town, a ways up the Miner’s trail, I think. They should be visiting anyway now to resupply, as it’s been a good... ooh, at least a tenday since they were last here.”
(For all: weeks in this setting have ten days, hence the term tenday for a week)

Would it be obvious to Sickle that they are with Barthen’s? If not he would grab a few shovels, and help them inside to make sure everything seems above board, saying, Here, let me help you with that.
Lavandula will take the coin purse and will share the reward with his companions, once he is done talking with Barthen. For now, he adds:
You know Reyrieth? Could you point us in her direction? As for Gundren, it does seem likely he was heading this way, with his cargo and brothers being here. We did have an unfortunate encounter with Goblins on the road, I now wonder if something happened similar happened to Gundren on his way here. We will consult with Reyrieth and the Guild, but perhaps we could help find out what happened to Sir Rockseeker.
(@Sickle: they did pop out of a side door to the building, but you’re free to help them if you’re uncertain of their intentions)
”Reyrieth lives next to the orchard, she’s often helping out down there. It’s easy to spot her house, it’s the only elven style one in the village!” He chuckles half-heartedly, then returns to looking worried, “Goblins on the road... my goodness, that’s the last thing we need. And Gundren missing...” He shakes his head and mutters, “I thought bad luck was supposed to come in threes.”

Let's get this over quick then, perhaps we can spend the night in Phandalin and make it back here in the morning of the morrow!!
Lavandula will urge his comrades to pick up the pace, but would rather walk behind the wagon, so will let the lead set the pace.
