Wes ducks for cover, retreating from the massive stone construct. Barely able to stand, Aradurk cranks the ballista toward the center of the creature, and Tanakir lets loose the javelin that had already been loaded. The direct hit deals 17 piercing damage to the gem, shattering it into a hundred pieces before Karst is able to unleash his own fury.
The last construct falls inert to the deck of the airship as Rycider provides 12 points of healing to Aradurk.
OOC: Each character has received 2,900 XP for defeating the shield guardians. I'm giving Rycider's inspiration right back to her for discovering the control gems.

Wes would like to scour the remains of the constructs going over the engineering and design for any clues. Especially taking time with the crystal shards for any magical aura that remains.
investigation: 19 (same bonus for arcana)
(also forgot we are in a chase.). After a quick look Wes will help with loading the ballistae and keeping an eye on the Construct enemies.
Karst moves to the prow looking out towards the object of their pursuit "We cannot lose them now!" He looks over the enemy ahead of them counting their numbers and seeing if they all appear to be the same as the ones they have just fought. "Let's load these ballistae again, you never know when we'll need to fire in a hurry." Once he has finished appraising the enemy forces he goes to load one javelin himself.

"I haven't lost them yet, but I have no idea where they're going or how long before we find out! We're keeping pace, it's as fast as we can go!" Sergeant Dugan shouts from the helm. "That was close! Thanks for keeping that one away from me, we might have lost them!"
Wes and Karst work on loading the ballistae while the airship continues to rumble through the skies. A great distance ahead, around a half dozen constructs can still be seen flying into the distance. True to Dugan's word, they are not getting any closer or further away.
Rycider provides more healing, this time for Wes.
For Wes:
From what you have seen, you have pieced together that these must have been shield guardians, constructs created through magic and controlled by an amulet. It would definitely strike you as odd that whoever created them seems to have placed the amulets that control them in a visible spot in their armor.
(Any viable pieces of the amulet or framework that Milo could take or use later?)
Wes will go to the back of the ship and continually use gust to help push the ship forward knowing it probably isn’t strong enough but worth a shot.
“Petunia would know what to do.”
Wes brings the tip of his wand to his mouth like a librarian shushing someone and gently blows. The breath flows out into shimmer like dust shining in the light. A breeze begins to push against the back of the ship.
Still under the influence of the potion of haste Karst moves unnaturally quickly across the deck , looking impatient. "It looks like we could be in for the long haul here. I can stand watch for a while, why don't a couple of you have a rest and then we can swap over. If something changes we will call you immediately." Karst settles back in to watching the progress of the ship against the constructs as they all fly over the land.

The amulets are too shattered to be of any use or value, though you could gather a few pieces if you would like.
Karst watches the constructs ahead for a while, and the airship reaches the Nether Mountains a little over an hour after it left Sundabar. Cresting the mountains, you are greeted by the sight of an ominous floating tower, a small fortification atop a minor floating land mass topped with an observatory.
The constructs, still carrying the form of Ser Mary Glendale, land on the mass and continue running, into the tower. "Keep your eyes peeled, I'm bringing her down!" Dugan shouts from the helm. The airship halts its flight, settling in the courtyard of the tower for a landing. The doors to the tower are still wide open from the constructs' entrance. There are no guards within sight. There are no other doors, or even windows, on the tower. Through the front doors, you can see a foyer, 20 feet wide and 40 feet long. A large portrait of a woman holding a jewel encrusted music box hangs over a closed pair of wooden doors at the end of the foyer.
"Sounds like a good idea, if necessary get back here straightaway though no need for unnecessary risks. I still have little strength left to call magic forth, I do not think the others are much better off, if we can avoid a pitched battle it may be wise." Karst offers to the invisible Ricky (he thinks!)

OOC: There wasn't quite enough time for a short rest to occur. It was a little over an hour from Sundabar to this tower, with an interruption in the middle.

Rycider blinks out of sight, reappearing just a short moment later when Tanakir's warning proves too accurate and a slicing blade appears in the entrance to the foyer, arcing in a 20 foot radius. She sees it coming in time to avoid being cleaved in two, taking 32 slashing damage and a vicious wound across her midsection. Unconscious, she appears suddenly with blood quickly pooling, practically gutted by the vicious trap.

Tanakir puts his club away, finding somewhere to sit where he can still watch the constructs in front.
"It feels like we're being lead somewhere..."
"True, but maybe it is somewhere we want to go.." Karst answers without turning to the genasi.

Wes will take a couple of pieces.
Does the jewel covered music box look like the same jewels that were in the center of the chest of the constructs?
OOC: Pieces of the control gem have been added to Wes's inventory.
The jewels in the painting do not appear to be the same as the gems in the chest of the shield guardians.
