Rycider will get up from her position slumped against the outside wall, as much as her body protests, and casts Disguise Self. Once again her hair turns jet black, her eyes green and her dress becomes black with blood red trim. She takes a deep breath. Fetching a small cricket from her bag of components, she strides into the library with all the confidence of a Queen.

OOC: Only 5d8 were rolled for sleep, which is 11d8 with a 4th level spell slot.
Wes Arcana: 19 Rycider Sleep: 42
For Wes:
Trying to turn off or attack the machine right now would be futile. The machinery and the arcana involved are far above even your learned mind.
You do not have detect magic prepared, but you can begin to cast it as a ritual (though with Rycider kicking off the action, it looks highly unlikely that you'll have time).
"I am the Grand Wizard Denorian," the man answers Tanakir while Karst heals himself. Though his eyes burn with rage, he speaks softly, "It was unwise to kill Fumbles. And unwise to come here. You'll never hold the portal long enough to stop me."
Suddenly, Rycider assails Denorian with magic. The sleep spell rolls right off of him.
"How dare you," is all he offers. Turning his attention back to the glowing gem, he nonchalantly waves two fingers. The doors slam shut and lock behind you, while two trap doors ascend next to the throne, each carrying a large metal construct, bigger even than the shield guardians you faced before, made entirely from iron. They appear to be giant suits of armor. Their eye slits alight with a green glow, and they deeply boom one word: "Denorian."
For Aradurk:
You have seen these before: Iron Golems. (see your PM "Between Adventures" if you need reminded on additional info).
Laser vs. Rycider: 23 Laser vs. Rycider: 17 Laser vs. Rycider: 14 Laser vs. Rycider: 8
The constructs begin advancing, almost in unison, toward the party. White hot lasers fly from their eyes toward Denorian's attacker. Rycider does an admirable job of dancing among them, but two strike her, dealing 17 and 18 radiant damage. As the second laser burns into her, she collapses unconscious, smoke rising from her body.
Round 1 Order: Iron Golems Players <=====
Tracking: Two iron constructs are advancing on the party, 30 feet away. Denorian is 60 feet away, idly reading a book. Rycider is unconscious and dying.
Wes will hold a fire bolt aimed at one of the constructs. Waiting to see if we are able to talk this out. If the Constructs are not called off or do an aggressive action Wes will release it.
Wes is also waiting to use counterspell if the wizard tries anything.
Everybody hold y-all's fire! Rycider says weakly I missed something in the middle there, on account a bein' addled, but ah think there has been a misunderstandin'!
Fumbles was our ally and friend and we mourn at his passin'. We are not the perpetrators of this heinous crime and ah believe it best we parlay before things get out a hand and our blood stains your furniture. What do ya say your Eminence? Can we talk?

OOC: Rycider can keep her Inspiration, as a Persuasion roll doesn't apply here yet (for reasons, it would be an automatic fail, so I wouldn't have called for it).

"One of you killed Fumbles, and you will die for it today," Denorian says calmly, eyes focused now on a book he is holding. His constructs do not slow, their lasers firing toward the party on the far wall. Karst is struck, taking 12(13 total, so 6 after resistance, still figuring out a smarter way to roll resistance). radiant damage. Wes's fire bolt is thrown off its mark as takes the brunt of two lasers, taking 14 and 16 radiant damage, falling back into a bookshelf. All goes dark for Wes suddenly when the items on the shelf clatter, and some fall, including a gnome-sized cloak that descends to cover his face.
For Wes:
You can feel magic resonating off of the cloak.
Denorian seems oddly unconcerned by the outcome of this fight. He has barely glanced in your direction.
The ladders along the shelves lead to platforms high above, which could take you out of range of the constructs.
For Aradurk:

Tracking: Two iron constructs have advanced on the party, 5 feet away. Denorian is 60 feet away, idly reading a book.
Wes grabs the cloak and a random book. Taking out his wand, he uses it in a motion to brush off the dust of his shoes “Airvante!”. They begin to glow yellow as he casts fly on himself and flies towards the platforms.

Ricky casts Invisibility on herself and makes for the ladders. As she does so, she will take in as much as she can of the constructs. Do they have a gem on them anywhere? If so, do the gems match the gem Denorian was holding?
Aradurk, Karst, and Tanakir are able to scramble quickly to platforms raised 30 feet from the ground. Rycider is halfway to a platform, but has blinked out of sight. Wes glides to a higher platform, 45 feet from the ground.
The constructs begin smashing into the wall, causing the platforms to rock wildly. In the ruckus, objects continue to fall from shelves; a cloak similar to the one that fell on Wes flutters onto Aradurk's platform, and Tanakir spots a wand in a pile of mundane objects that has fallen onto his own platform.
"You do not even see what is happening here," Denorian offers.
For Rycider:
These constructs are better constructed than the shield guardians, made entirely of iron, and have no gemstone in sight.
“Not really getting time to get the full story!” Wes shouts
Wes takes some of the nuts and bolts from his pouch. Speaking his words into it his hand holding the hardware. Firing all magic missile at the green eyes of the constructs. (2 darts to one, one to the other.)

Rycider will now focus her attention on Denorian and his surrounds. Where is the gem he was holding? What is above him? The ceiling construction, are there beams?
