A young half-elf woman sits at the table. She's blonde, with eyes that are different colors. She's mainly been silent, as she's been eating food and listening to the mission being given. "Sure, I'd be happy to help you take care of this problem."

Inssol scarfs down the rest of his food, jumps from the chair and, before leaving, scurries over to the Baron. He gestures to the Baron to lean in close as he cups his hands.
"I wish to write for my mother. I promised I would. Do you have any means to do so?
Saltonstall was somewhat surprised by the woman talking, assuming that she wasn't going to inquire much over the course of the dinner. Regardless, he met her with a smile. "Good, good. Nedroatan requires any assistance it can get in this endeavor. I wish you good luck in your -" Before he could continue addressing Vesper, he was met with Inssol at his ear. He furrowed his brow at the question, thinking, before whispering back. Vesper can roll a DC 17 Perception check if she wishes to decipher their conversation.
INSSOL
"The Olmkirk postal building would have no trouble assisting you in contacting your mother. It's about two blocks from the Inn you're staying at. Walk precisely a block from the East of the Dragonwing Inn, and then take a right and continue straight. There you'll find your way to the postal office, you can't miss it."

Attempting to keen your ears, you can hear jumbled snippets of conversation, however no specific threads of speech that could be coherently mentally fashioned together.
ODEN, VESPER, INSSOL
In a similar fashion from before, Lord Saltonstall leans back, clapping his hands twice against his head in beckoning to his servants. Accordingly, they rush into the room and begin cleaning the table. The Baron stands, stretching for several moments before speaking: "It was an honor to dine with you tonight, lady and gentlemen. I hope to hear of your fruitful exploits within the breadth of the Ember Plateau. Remember, I am not a man you want to displease. Consult with Captain Percival outside about your way to the Inn. Good luck."
And, with that, Lord Saltonstall exits the room, striding towards his quarters for the night.
Oben stands, bows ever so slightly to the Baron, and leaves with the others. Outside, he walks over to the Captain, wearing his most winning smile. Captain Percival, I hope we haven't been too much trouble. The Baron suggested we ask you about the inn for tonight.
The Baron is brought to his room by a pair of orderlies, and as he disappears around the corner, Oben inquires to Captain Percival about their lodgings for the night. The Captain, clearly bothered by being assigned to escort what seemed to him like mercenaries back and forth around Olmkirk, simply grunted in response to the question. "Yes, the Baron has instructed me with bringing you to the Dragonwing Inn." He gestured for the group to follow him, and retracing their steps from the entrance, leads you outside of Saltonstall Hall, and back into the infinite night. They descended the stairs, and once again winded through the ominous town streets, eventually reaching a 3 way conjunction in the road. To the left, a large sign can be seen hanging off of a building. The wooden board reads in stylized letters: "THE DRAGONWING TAVERN". Captain Percival addresses all of you:
"The Inn is just up ahead, y'can't miss it. Don't be stirring up any trouble, now." Before drawing his longsword and stomping off back to Saltonstall Hall.
The party is about 260 ft. away from the Inn structure.
Anybody succeeding on a DC 12 Perception Checknotices that no lights are on within the Inn, even when the Tavern should be alive with activity at this time of night.
As the Captain leaves, Oben speaks. Thank you Captain. I know it's not been fun to take care of us, but we will prove through our service to the Baron and to Nedroatan that we were worth your time. Deception10.
As Oben calls out to the Captain, he simply continues moving and ignores him. Inspecting the tavern, Oben, with his human senses, can't notice anything outright unusual from this distance - yet the street is very quiet.
OOC: [Everybody else is still free to make the check.]
Your eyes and ears are suddenly graced with an usual clarity, as you notice that there is absolutely no light being filtrated from inside the tavern. In addition to this, you can't hear anything coming from that direction, only the sounds of wild animals and other natural occurrences that one has come to expect within Nedroatan. Looking closely at the door, it appears that it is closed shut, the knob positioned as if locked tight. Nailed to the door is some kind of rectangular papyrus slip.

Due to the distance from the Inn, it takes you a minute or two to reach the door. An inky black appears to have filled in the tavern, and you can't see inside clearly. As you break off from the party, you still hear no noise. The slip is easily taken from the door, and the note reads:
prepare
-the embers
As the note is taken down, you suddenly feel a heavy arcane charge wash over you, and the lights of the tavern come back on. Inside, it's the standard fair of a bustling Inn. The noises from within now swim through the night air. Roll a DC 16 Wisdom Saving Throw to avoid being knocked prone by the arcane wave.
In your intense confusion, the intensity of the blast temporarily locks your Gnomish tendons together. You fall backwards on the pavement, an intense migraine in your head for several moments. Eventually, the pain leaves, and your muscles relax.
OOC: [Taking a break for a bit to let everybody else catch up.]
Vesper's investigation yields little more than Oben's did moments earlier, however she does fully observe the situation with Inssol, as the Gnome detaches the note from the door, only for the lights of the tavern to abruptly glare, and for him to crumple to the floor in temporary agony.

Inssol, from your position on the cold ground, you can see Oben rush over before kneeling over you. Oben, with your medicine check, you notice that Innsol is quite dazed and startled but medically stable.
