Travelling in the morning you see vultures circling out in the desert. You leave the bodies to the cats and move on.
Around midday the owl spots a group on foot moving down the road in the same direction. 10 people armed with crossbows and machetes. He came up from behind them so he hasn't been seen. They are a rough looking group with gang tats.
OOC - Are they moving in the same direction as we are ahead of us?

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
"I think we should make a surprise attack," Aleister says when he learns of the scum in front of the party. "I'll hit them with a fire bomb, two others toss a Poison Oak and Oleander bomb and that should reduce them to manageable size, if we can get the drop on them." The expression on Aleister's face is not nice.

"It's a pity about the owl but waiting until nightfall makes sense. Let's trail them and make sure we have the advantage."
Open conflicts with groups of people were something Sarah had avoided before now. Her pulse quickened but she wasn't going to back down without reason. These people were little better than bandits. Clearing the way of that kind of hazard was practically a public service.
"We should let them settle in for the night. We have night vision - they don't - and we have other advantages that may make this easier, if we feel they are more bad guys. Let night fall and, when we're ready, I can put out their fires, envelop them in fog to hide the smoke of Aleister's bombs, and more preparations. How about this: I'll refresh the darksight spell on all who need it. We stalk them until they camp, learn their picket positions and patterns and I'll call forth a fog cloud around their camp, slowly. Aleister drops his little gifts in the mists and we see how well they work. As soon as it's had time to simmer, I put out their campfire and we attack."

"Sounds good. I'll snipe whoever I can from my little patch of darkness, if that suits," Sarah offered. "How far out does your spell grant you night-vision? I have about 120 feet."
"Not so far as all that. About half that distance. Still better than normal eyesight. How'd you get that eyesight?"

Sarah grimaces a little. Exactly how she'd gained it was something out of a dream mixed with delusion and desperation. The other power to make a bow out of thin air had been more stubbornness to find a weapon that wasn't Gramps and that gave her a little range.
<<Ungrateful, child.>> Gramps muttered.
"Lets just say there are a lot of unknowns with my magic. Most of what I do... I just know by instinct. A while back I was surprised by a group of ******** who came into the house I'd bedded down in for the night. I hadn't suddenly been able to see, I'd likely be dead," Sarah explained.
Aleister, what are the game statistics for your grenades? Damage radius and effect. You can throw a grenade 60' Who has what? To get within 60' stealth check please; you get advantage as you can see and they can't.
Those, like Sarah, not using grenades what are you doing?
Initiative for the first non surprise round too please.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
After dark, Sarah will be sneaking forward, helping and being helped by her companions until she finds a clear position to shoot at the gang members. Once the grenade is thrown, and the enemies softened up, she'll pull out her darkness bead and start shooting.
Initiative was 9 and Stealth 19. For some reason it rerolled! Sorry.

Thomas will handle the spells. Everyone who doesn't already have darkvision will get it. Thomas will then cast the 40' Fog cloud to slowly fill the bandit's camp. Gamliel will help find scouts/guards. Thomas will - when everyone has done what they wanted into the cloud - use Control Flame to extinguish the camp fire. He will only move to 60' at that point, fully stealthed. After the fire is out, he will be shooting, then hiding and scooting.

George will move quietly and close on the group, studying them to find their weakness ([magicspell]hunters mark[/magicspell]). He'll wait for the first bombs to hit and then open up with his longbow, using Horde Breaker wherever possible.

What time of day is it? Can we hang back far enough to not be detected until they camp?
It’s around midday so about 6 hours to night.
"Can the owl lift and drop the bomb for us?" Sarah asked. "A surprise attack is good but I don't want to risk us getting poisoned."
"I do not think the owl can do this, we got to throw the things," Aleister grins. "It'll be fun, just light and throw!"
