You're there as "backup" not negotiators. The news about CUT assassins may help the negotiators be more reasonable.

A peaceful trip. You arrive at Mount Hood Village. There are some preChange cabins here that are used by hunters. The MacKenzies have 10 people guarding Matilda. They are led by Chuck Barstow, chief armsman of the clan.
Also there is Astrid Larsson and Eilir Mackenzie plus 5 members of their newly formed Dúnedain Rangers. Astrid is quite famous (infamous) because she believes that Middle Earth literally existed, this is now the 5th age and she calls LOTR 'the Histories'. Just because she is batshit crazy doesn't mean she isn't extremely dangerous with sword or bow.
Fire bolt- Shoot a streaking ball of fire towards a foe and deal a measly 1d10 fire damage. Use eldritch blast instead.
Fireball - Drawing magic from your inner reserves, you unleash a devastating nuke that explodes in a circle, hitting multiple enemies, and burning them to a crisp with a godly amount of 8d6 fire damage. Make your DM’s fights look like garbage. It’s also a nice way of TPK your entire party and have them triggered at you for the rest of the week.

Before the negotiations start Sullivan and his elk go deep into the forest to meditate and innertly consult with Krampus. Once they arrive to the grounds of negotiation, he also tries to seize up both sides and see if there are any individuals who are unsure about their own allegiances.

Thomas makes a Galdur's Tower in a clearing near the hunter's cabins, enjoying the creature comforts that his magic provides. (More can be made if others want them). Encountering the people involved in the negotiations, he sizes them up with Gamliel's help. Periodically, he will explore the area with Gamliel and Clairvoyance, just ensuring nothing is being planned to disrupt the talks.

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar

Aleister will seek to 'chat' with each of the negotiators (who are they?) in an attempt to figure out where they stand, where they might give a bit of ground and where they are resolute.

OCC What part in the PPA does Baron Liu play? Like consigliare for a capo de tutti?
The MacKenzies are here to negotiate in good faith. They where raiding PPA supply lines and found Matilda during the battle. She was travelling home with a retinue that got killed in the fighting. Taking her with them when they retreated was considered to be the best of a lot of bad options. They are quite willing to give her back but want some prisoners returned in exchange.
The PPA people are minor officials and are waiting for Baron Lui to arrive, he will handle the negotiations.
Astrid Larson is there solely to make sure that no one cheats (you too actually)
Baron Lui is The Lord Protector's hatchet man and fixer.

Sarah will do the rounds with the other people gathered on the site, to let people know the Yachats delegation has arrived. She listens to gossip, taking the temperature of all the parties and hopefully forming a plan for how Yachats will operate during negotiations. Hedwig uses her cute factor to disarm the people Sarah speaks with and helps detect the worst fabrications. She also keeps an eye out for anyone they know or anything out of place.

More information about what's going on, what the aims are for the meeting. Any important news or information pertinent to the meeting. What role Yachats should play. What she thinks the PPA might be doing because she doubts they intend to play fair. Sarah might also share news of the assassinations if she thinks Astrid might help in refocusing attention to the CUT. Unlikely but an option.
OOC: I guess I'm asking for the stage to be set a little more as well as any useful information. This is the characters' first time meeting the canon main characters.

What's going on: Astrid is trying to grow the Dúnedain Rangers' reputation so that it becomes like the historical (literary) rangers. Honest brokers and defenders of the civilized lands from the bandits of the wild. They got word from the MacKenzies that they wanted this meeting and then contacted the PPA who wants this site for the meeting. This, of course, is a red flag but the rangers have searched the area and it seems to be as it appears; hunting lodges not used all that often. Your group is to keep an eye on the participants while the rangers scout the forest during the meeting, to make sure both sides (the PPA) are playing fair.
Astrid is smart, professional and conscientious (and obviously delusional). Her friend, Eilir Mackenzie - daughter of the MacKenzie chief Juniper and deaf since birth, is equally smart, professional and conscientious but has a better grasp on reality. But then again you live in a world were magic is real and steam power isn't.
How do the various factions react to our character's arrival? How do they respond to Sarah's diplomatic greetings or the sudden appearance of a tower fort out of nothing? Anything said that they shouldn't have mentioned?
Blaize stares at the tiny ants, who are crawling towards their nest, bring back necessary food and supplies. (Just needed to make saying my character is doing nothing more interesting)

The MacKenzies have always been on good terms and the PPA contingent where at least cordial until the tower magically appears. Now there is much muttering of "witch", signs of the cross and angry glares.

OOC: Are we in base, PPA territory or CUT territory?
“Tell you what,” Aleister says forcefully. “I could use a tankard or two of ale. My throat feels like a dust storm.”
Panic is a mechanism that strengthens the gene pool.
In forest a couple of days travel from Portland. Technically PPA territory but not near any settlements.
’When we get to civilisation, I could do with some rope and stuff,’ Blaize shrugs.
’Hmm, a Forest? Looks like it might be dangerous here.’

Blaize trips on a concealed rock.
’Ahh, I’ve fallen and I can’t get back up!’

Oh okay sorry, thought it was perception as I would be checking out the forest
But my perception modifier is the same as survival so either way I probably failed the check.
