OOC: What’s happening currently? I’m getting a bit confused. Something about a prisoner who’s on fire with napalm and we’re trying to save them?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Fire bolt- Shoot a streaking ball of fire towards a foe and deal a measly 1d10 fire damage. Use eldritch blast instead.
Fireball - Drawing magic from your inner reserves, you unleash a devastating nuke that explodes in a circle, hitting multiple enemies, and burning them to a crisp with a godly amount of 8d6 fire damage. Make your DM’s fights look like garbage. It’s also a nice way of TPK your entire party and have them triggered at you for the rest of the week.
It's the PPA guy we're guarding and trying to protect for the trial about PPA not minding borders and generally being a bag of conquistador ***** male genitalia. He got hit with the napalm when the monk threw it.
"Do we want to raise the monk as a specter? Perhaps at the trial?"
Max "Doing this necromancy shit at the meeting is a decision for the Mayor. Getting information behind closed doors is one thing but doing it in public seems like it would play into all the stereotypes that the PPA are pushing."
OOC - what healing did we need to use to save him?
Thomas, seeing the prisoner preserved, begins to fight the fire, thinking that some elemental magic would be handy right about now. #I need to learn how ti summon a water elemental or something. They could put this out fast enough#
*Or a sudden rainfall?* Says his familiar
#Anything would be helpful, yep. Not nearly enough knowledge of this new magic, yet.#
He organizes a bucket brigade and tosses water on the fire as he can.
“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar

The fire in the utility closet burns brightly but you manage to keep it from spreading to the rest of the building.
He has 3rd and 4th degree burns on his arms, hands and parts of his torso. He is in horrible pain and this sort of damage can't be fixed by healing spells. Magic can keep him alive but fixing organ damage (the skin is an organ) requires regenerate or similar. If you drug him up he could still testify (if he wants to).
In the pre-tech world of the past he would die from a secondary infection sooner or latter. In a world with magic he has a chance.
Aleister looks around the kitchen for anything remotely resembling plastic wrap (X fingers on that one), aluminum foil, waxed paper, waxed cloth and says, "somebody get folks look for any aloe plants around here; maybe there some as house plants. Whatever, we will need it quickly." He will cast Goodberries and get one of those done the patients throat (this to keep his system supplied with the nutrients and energy needed to help fight the problems associated with burns). "Honey as well could be useful."
Steps to be taken:
1. Keep the burned areas as clean as possible
2. Well hydrated, also using honey, if found, for its antibacterial properties, as well as its ability to keep the burned area from losing more moisture too rapidly
3. Casting Cure Wounds to help the body resist infection, shock
The main goal is to help him (or her?) survive the initial shock

"plastic wrap (X fingers on that one), aluminum foil, waxed paper, waxed cloth" This is year 8 after the Change so that sort of stuff would be worth its weight in diamonds if it actually exists. Healing magic will keep him alive...you have a paladin who can cure disease...but after that its just time. I don't know enough to say but a skin graft? That doesn't seem to need tech. If he survives it will be like Sandor Clegane.
Actually waxed paper and/or cloth is easy to make, just rub wax into paper or cloth; beeswax would work very well. Have you ever heard of ‘tin pants’? Anyway, making some up would be very simple and folks in the Northwest are very familiar with the concept, especially those who spend time out of doors. The idea is a moisture barrier, so, however it can be created it would greatly improve the victim’s chances.

Yeah, waxed cloth was used for medieval pavilions and the like, although more than just beeswax was used. That would be if not common then certainly used widely given the wet climate. Similar to the oilskins here in Australia.

Okay, yes to the waxed stuff but no to the aluminium foil (or could you make it from soda cans. New aluminium is next to impossible without electricity) and cling wrap is a faint memory never to be seen again.
Blaize panicks at the burns the prisoner is getting and how little he can help his allies.
OOC: If i fed the prisoner a potion of greater healing, would it help the situation?

Not really. From a gaming perspective this is more than just HP damage. Most healing won't fix things like a missing hand or eye. Similarly 3rd and 4th degree burns cause permanent skin damage which won't grow back without skin grafts. And missing skin leaves you open to infections which is how burn victims usually die. Magic can keep the infections under control so that the victim does have a chance of recovery.
Okay, moving on. As I've said a couple of times it is possible for the prisoner to be questioned at the meeting. Whether he's willing to talk is a different issue.
OOC - A Paladin or Cleric's Cure Disease would help as well, but he won't be completely healthy without a regen. Got it. Badly scarred, too. Did Gamliel keep track of the foes as they left? Even with them dashing, they might not be too far away before they resume normal movement.
Thomas is annoyed by how easy the enemy assassin's got past all their defenses. "Next time, we'll put him into a magic Hut. Nothing gets through that without some kind of negation, and if we hide it within a building, they won't know what to bring to the fight. Either they think their arson killed him, or they might find out he's still alive. They don't use magic, like we do, but if they find out through a spy or the like that he's still alive, we need to be better prepared. Whomever sets up the Hut can't leave it, though. We can offer to heal our witness fully, maybe, once we have the ability, as a bargaining tool?"

Gamliel follows the fleeing hit squad back to a large building near the centre of town. Based on the number of PPA guards in plain sight it could be their embassy.
A very high movement rate and indifference to opportunity attacks is a tough combo to negate.
Oh and I almost forgot Gamliel's stealth and perception vs someone's stealth31 (this is 23 because of Reliable Talent) and perception16 (this is 17 because of Reliable Talent)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Unable to follow the attempted murderers into the forest, Gamliel reports back and Thomas says"Well, now we know the PPA will not honour or allow themselves to be embarrassed. Their lack of honour is profound for such a 'knightly' group. We need to keep this guy safe and secure. Who else can cast the Hut magic? If no one else, I'll volunteer to hide him under the dome. "

Perception : 11

The rangers return having fought of the thugs. You have put out the prisoner but the house is still on fire.

"You're right that we'd need clearance and I also feel it's best kept... private," Sarah agrees with Max.
She then works with the bucket brigade to get the fire dealt with.
