Uthvern gets a set of the riot gear as he is going out of the town tomorrow as well. Likewise George, Juliet and Herman. "Check it back in when you return" To Eva "Don't use the tear gas unless absolutely necessary, the chances of getting any more are pretty much none."

George is good for the next am. Shows up early wearing the Riot Gear comfortably with his hunting gear strapped on. His large hunting knife and hatchet are settled in their customary places on this right thigh and left hip. His unstrung bow is strapped on the outside of the quiver which in turn is strapped to his hiking pack.
Eva gives them a small smile. “Morning, and ready as I’ll ever be” Eva has a backpack that has all the stuff she will need and a sharp looking dagger at her side
'I'm a lifelong bowhunter - have my longbow and arrows with me and some tools to keep them up. Can turn arrows no problem and might even be able to knock up a couple of crude bows if we found some seasoned wood - but I'm no bowyer.
I've also got some experience going into places where I'm not welcomed and getting back out again.
Happy to help as you see fit - but it seems to me the trucks on the 101 should be a priority - especially if they have anything perishable that we can salvage.
Meanwhile, a roadblock to the north and some pickets to the East should be able to keep folks out for now. But we should come up with an 'interview' of some sorts to decide who we might want to let in.'

Herman shows up with no gear nor shield, with a camping backpack, two hatchets at the sides and what looks like a long walking stick but indeed has a blade at the end.
The Sheriff meets you and makes sure you are all equipped properly. He gives Juliette a xbow and 10 bolts "Please try and recover the bolts if possible." There are six of you, five in the riot gear and Eva. The sixth is Max, one of the deputies. The Sheriff has has some swords, very rough swords, for anyone who wants one. You see that they are made of sheet metal cut from a car body and ground to have an edge with the hilt wrapped in leather..
Max leads you along the road out of town until you come to the pass where the plane crashed. He leads you up onto the ridge so that you can see the road. The fire has driven the people away north and south on the road and no one is in sight at the moment. Pick a direction.
Uthvern looks at George, "You're what they call a survivalist, right?" He then also looks between George and Eva, "which direction would ya'll recommend?"
George moves forward quietly - keeping to cover and being careful to not get silhouetted against the morning sun - stealth 10 and stops every 100 yards or so to listen and observe his surroundings Perception - 9
After receiving their gear and weapons everyone went their own way for the night. So did Juliette who now had a dagger and a crossbow - two weapons she never thought she’d have to use. But look where she is now.
In the morning they gathered once again and started discussing their plans. Juliette didn’t take an active part in the discussion since she didn’t feel knowledgeable enough in any of the fields they would need to consider while making a practical plan. But she did agree with the decision they came to - going closer to a town seemed reasonable enough. Being an inexperienced fighter or ranger herself Juliette quietly follows behind the group while George leads the way.
Moving north beside the road you see abandoned cars as far as the eye can see. There are also a sprinkling of trucks and big rigs, you stop and investigate these as you go looking for anything useful.
You find 5 of note
1. An Oregon Corrections Services prisoner transfer bus. Two dead guards and no prisoners. 2. A <Name of Supermarket Chain> transport. Non refrigerated and padlocked shut 3. A truck with about 40 20lb bags of potatoes in the back (cut up the potatoes so that each piece has an eye and they will grow new plants) 4. A container full of Adidas sports clothes and shoes 5. A livestock transport full of horses (10). There has been a fight here with the two people who had been driving the vehicle and 3 people in prisoner uniforms dead. The horses are spooked and dehydrated
The horses are about 5 miles from your town's exit.
Eva seeing the empty prison bus starts looking around to see if there is anyone around, with her hand on the dagger. Perception 3. While she is looking she addresses the group. “We shouldnt stay out in the opening too long. We should grab the horse and tie as much food as we can on them and head back”

'OK looks like we've got some prisoners on the loose here - and plenty of stuff worth saving.'
'Let's prioritize the horses - get them out of the trailer and get some water out for them. We should also set a guard around them while we get them settled down.'
"Herman - can you look to the horses? I think I remember you having some experience with animals."
"The potatoes are key - they can get us through the winter. Remember that Matt Damon movie - guy lived on potatoes alone on Mars?'

“My vote is north. Closer to a city, which means we have a higher chance of finding something useful for the town.” Eva says

George has taken one of the crude swords from the Sheriff - playing with the balance a bit to get the feel for the crude weapon.
