Before heading upstairs, Stone would have held up a hand. "Wait... Let me check something quick.." The goilath would say as he makes his way to the casks of ale and opens them before taking the smallest taste of each.. checking to wee if they were poisoned in any way.
***After finding out if it was poisoned***
When heading upstairs, Stone would watch as Hallie looks through the records. He would look at the picture of the young girl, trying to remember if he recognized her. "Hallie.. do you suppose this young girl may have survived in all of this? Maybe she could provide us with more information..." He would say as he takes the photo and puts it in his pack. If there was nothing left in that room, he would move towards the bedrooms... searching for any personal effects or notes or anything that might be useful.

Tasting if it’s poison. Con save 4. Stones keels over dead from the potent poison.
(just kidding)
The ale is not poisoned. Stone you and Hallie assume the girl in the picture was the youngest daughter of the Starloft family. The one that was killed that began the bloody family feud.
Hallie and Stone move upstairs. You find it to be ransacked as well. Combing through the rooms, something that’s gone unnoticed in the master bedroom is a locked chest wedges under the bed. It’s dark oak chest with golden inlay and lock on the front. About 2’ x 2’ x1’ in size.
tucked in another bedroom closet, hidden you find a finely crafted long sword- black leather handle.
The last bedroom, painted pink. The sheets still soaked with blood. Nothing seems to be in the room, but the window and sill is broken outward.
Stone would move to the longsword and pick it up before giving it a few swings. (Is it just a normal sword?). He would then put it in his bag. "you got a way to open the chest? Otherwise I van try to smash it open..."
Xil wants to do some research and start asking around using his background feature:
Court Functionary: Your knowledge of how bureaucracies function lets you gain access to the records and inner workings of any noble court or government you encounter. You know who the movers and shakers are, whom to go to for the favors you seek, and what the current intrigues of interest in the group are.
I think specifically, Xil would try and find if there are interest groups that want the Blackburn’s out.

As Hallie gives the OK to smash the chest, Stone would pull out his battle axe and attemp to line up a horizontal strike to land on the lock. Hoping to smash the lock and embed the axe head where he can then pry open the chest.
Stone/Hallie: Smashing the chest open with the axe, it breaks it half like a chestnut. Pull apart the fibers and splinters for the treasures inside. You find a stack of documents, deeds for properties all lining from the shore and down into the East side of the city. All in the Blackburn’s name. You find 3 rubies, , a gold ring, and a sack of coin equating to 250 gold pieces.
Xil and Ilvisar: you spend some time going through the administration district. The officials aren’t as high level here as they would be at the Blackburn Estate, but they’re less likely to be loyal as well. No one really gives off the vibe of distaste for the Blackburn Family; to show that openly would surely mean to lose their job and status. You do find a very flustered gnome amongst a stack of wildly kept papers on his oversized desk. The red face of frustration to match his hair and mustache. (I’ll need a Perception or persuasion/deception roll along with anything specific you’d like to know)
”That will do!”I grab up the ring, rubies and add them to the sack of coin. Tossing them in my pack. Then start neatly stacking and packing the papers up
Xil and Ilvisar: you catch glimpses of what the papers hard, but being upside down and this far away it’s hard to make out. What they are about. Grumpily he thids down a giant rubber stamp onto a paper, soaking with red ink before shuffling it into the stack. Looking up at you exhausted “May I help you?”
"So this home.. used to belong to one of the families torn apart by the Blackburns... Why would Deeds to Blackburn properties be here?" Stone would ask Hallie as she gathers up the money and valuables.
“You alright friend? We noticed you seemed very upset. I used to work in bureaucracy too. Could I lend a hand or an ear?”
The beleaguered gnome raises his head, “I doubt the Blackburn Family would appreciate letting two strangers meddle in their affairs. I also doubt you can’t here with altruism in your hearts. What do you need?”
Stone and Hallie: do you investigate anything else, or heading out?

Stone would put away the axe and draw the new sword from his pack.. holding it in his hand as he moved around the room. "Let's hurry up and finish checking the rest of the house" The goliath would say before leaving the bedroom and making his way into the hallway. He would quickly poke his head into each of the remaining rooms... looking for anything at all of interest.. not sure what he was hoping to find.. he would settle for anything of value or that seemed out of place..
"You cut right through the crap. I like that. Unfortunately... I can't tell you exactly what it is I want. It might be... looked down upon by this aforementioned family... Whether you'd be interested in that sort of thing is irrelevant, the offer to help -- of any kind -- still stands." He says with a wink
Bear Xils nods vigorously as the Bear parts the sea of people during the brawl as soon as they're outside he will change back to human form.

(Hallie - Wreckzors will be away for a couple days, you’re taking the lead on investigation, if you were waiting for him)
Xil and Ilvisar- are you looking to go to the administration offices or the Blackburn estate?

There seems to be some magical essence to the sword.

”Smash away!” I step back and gesture stone to the chest.

Ilvisar will provide assistance (Help action) for Xil since this is Xil's strength.
