You spilt off from the group and follow Korven and Anders to the docks. The smell of salt and fish lingers in the air as you step into the wooden framework. The market busy as vendors are hawking their catch of the day. The shouts in constant competition with each other and the gulls squawking over head. You see various ships being prepared for voyage out to sea. Some loading nets, others loading boxes.... some loading artillery. Anders taps you on the shoulder and points to a well dressed man, brown hair sweeping out from under a bowler hat. A green vest and a Monaco’s hanging by his side. A clip board in hand as he writes while overlooking the docks as he walks back and forth. “Must be the Dock Master.”
Others - Walking straight into town you walk under an iron gate that’s open for foot traffic and horse drawn carriages. Guards are stationed but pay you no mind. The architecture is fascinating once you’re up close. What seems like a lodge posts of random towers and homes built on top one another now is clear to be very meticulously thought out and planned. Staircases form, merge, disappear, and start again, going every which way but as part of the buildings themselves. Very confusing for outsiders to try and make sense of it, but the locals bustle about very efficiently. Oddly enough the foot traffic separates itself on the right and left side, for those who need to stand and figure out their way seem to be standing in the middle until merging back in with the traffic. The streets are immaculate. No trash to be seen, no droppings from horses, and the cobblestones actually look washed and maintained. Everything about this city screams rules and order to you. You seem to have entered of the West side which is more residential. You’re free to wander the city or ask for directions to wherever you are looking for.
"A port city like this could have all kinds of exotic goods..... Perhaps they deal in exotic animals..." Drax would say rubbing his chin. The Yuan-ti would then head off towards the market... looking for any kind of animal stalls or seller of exotic (and possibly magical) trinkets.
Port cities are always fascinating,Matteo agrees. I used to find them... overpowering. I was raised in a small village, and didn't see sights like... well, all of this. He makes a sweeping gesture with his hand, indicating the whole city. But I've got used to it; I can even bear the smell, on a good day. He accompanies Drax to the market, but as he goes, he's on the lookout for members of the town guard, or for any temples to any gods.
(If the Church of the Nine use any kind of secret mark or symbol to help them find each other, Matteo will also be looking for that.)
Risha also accompanies Drax to the market, apparently perfectly relaxed in the city. "I like big cities. They're always interesting." She smiles, the tips of her fangs becoming visible. "And easy blend in at." She also keeps an eye out for guards.
Aether (Did they answer if they knew a place I could get my stuff for Find Familiar?)
Aether walks up to the man indicated "Hello, we are looking for passage to Calimport."
(Sorry - they have the supplies for you at the temple, there is a small apothecary that could sell you the supplies if you didn’t want to wait)
The portly man turns around and brings his nose up from his clipboard. Pulling his monocle up by the string and placing it to read, while the other eye squints with difficulty. “Name?” He states in a monotone tone. “I don’t think you’re on the list, have you filled out form 229-B: clearance for departure via sea vessel. It will be tricky to leave today without proper clearance.” He holds his hand out.

You don’t find any stalls as you make your way through the city, you know that would be on the outskirts or within castle walls. You do happen to walk upon a store that echoes of squawks and howls amongst other animal noises. Entering the shop as the bell chimes overhead. A human with dark skin, a flashy but deep purple robe bursts out of the back through a curtain in a heavy foreign accent, joyously doings forward “Welcome to Mandelver’s Magnificent Beasts! You like exotic creatures? This is where you find them. Are you perusing or interested in something particular?” He twirls his mustache after asking.

Looking around you don’t see any particular insignia of the church of nine or anything linked to Asmodeus. Something so sinister you feel wouldn’t be left out in the open. You see several emblems and And holy symbols related to Tyr, Torm, and Bahamut.
Risha also accompanies Drax to the market, apparently perfectly relaxed in the city. "I like big cities. They're always interesting." She smiles, the tips of her fangs becoming visible. "And easy blend in at." She also keeps an eye out for guards.
Perception: 15
There’s guards all over the place, on patrol, some stationed on busy corners or stair cases to help maintain peace and order. None of them seem particularly interested in you.
Still tucking away the supplies he had picked up at the apothecary Aether fishes 5 gold out of his pouch and places them in the outstretched hand. after a brief pause he adds another 5 gold. "Haste would be appreciated."
"Ahhh yes, I have heard tales of your impressive establishment but they hardly do it justice.." Drax would say with a smile, having taken on the appearance of a somewhat portly nobleman wearing fine clothes and a smooth shaven face. "I was looking for a snake my good man." drax would say giving the man a hardy smack on the back. "The more dangerous the better.. ideally something poisonous.. maybe one that isnt native to the area..." he would say with a smile as he pulls at his belt and walks Into the shop, trying to carry himself the way someone much larger than him normally would...
Matteo is on the lookout for a blacksmith or armourer's shop: Perception5
Ah, can you see a blacksmith anywhere? he asks Petmorn. I reckon I can afford some better armour, but all these shops look like they sell crap. And yeah, some potions would be good. I'm really not that good at healing.
Aether - The man palms the coins and put them in his pocket. “I’ll be happy to get those forms ready for you.” He leads you to a small ship “she’s small, but fast. Not too much room for extra travelers so you’ll be bunking in the shipmates quarters with the rest of them, probably have to pull yer weight too.” He walks you to a much larger ship clearly designed for extended trips or large amounts of cargo. “This one here we could procure, but it requires filing form LS -687 which is another 10 gold. She’s slower, but clearly more.... luxurious. And she’s equipped with all the artillery needed for protection. What’ll it be?” He says with a charming smile.
Drax - The man pokes his head through the curtain as he yells back orders in a language you don’t understand. Shortly after hearing some clutter, two halflings that share the same dark pigmentation begin to bring crates out. The man turns back to you while the crates in place. With a grin he says “I have some options, options are always nice, yes?” He takes time to bring out three snakes one at a time. Handling them with expert care. Knowing you specifically asked for poisonous snakes, he just puts his hand in and fishes them out without a care.
Option 1 - standard poisonous snake - black snake with golden diamonds down the back, viper style head. 25 gold he says while it’s wrapped around his hand.
Option 2 - He hefts out a fairly large snake, approximately 4-5 feet long. Cobra head and flaring design as it sits and follows his finger. “Now, this one isn’t poisonous, not like you’d think.... but it’s gaze is quite hypnotic, can be quite handy. He handles it as it’s wrapped around his arm. - 50 gold
Option 3 - he initially struggles to pull out a crate, a massive boa constrictor type snake, at least 11 feet long. “Now she isn’t too practical to try and hide, but she is quite a formidable foe by either crushing, or paralyzing creatures with its poison. Olga here is 100 gold
Matteo/Petmorn - With little trouble you’re directed to a respectable looking blacksmith. A dwarf is managing to counter working on some crossbow bolts, while a large half orc can be seen managing the forge in the background. “What can I get for ya?”
Matteo sells his chain mail (for half price, so 37.5 gold) and buys splint mail (200 gold).
He will try to find something really shiny and impressive that fits his image as a noble Paladin of good, though without the symbols of any particular god.
Aether - The man smiles once more as he quickly pockets your gold and folds his clipboard in under his arm. “Right this way, gentlemen.” He leads you up to the ramp onto the deck. “Captain, I have some travelers for you journey, good news they only look for a ride to Calimport.” A well dressed man with poofy white collar and cuffs, covered by a green velvet jacket walks towards you. “Very, well. I trust taking these travelers will reflect in May usual payment as per our deal?” The Dock Master nods and bows as he makes his exit. The captain shows you around and introduces you to a goblin, “This is Spattz, if you need anything Spattz will attend to it. You’re allowed up on the deck and in the guest quarters, I’ll ask you stay out of the lower decks. Just safer that way and you stay out of the way of my men.... they don’t need distractions. We will arrive in two days. I hope you enjoy your stay.” The goblin leads you up a short set of stairs to the back end of the boat (I know nothing about ships). There are two rooms, nicer than the average inn as it’s a bed. Bath chamber, a view of the ocean, and a desk. “Meals are served at eight, noon, and seven. I hope you like fruit and seafood. If you need anything just call.” You are left in your room as Korven and Anders take the other room.
Drax - first snake is the poisonous snake straight, same one as pets and familiars I think. Other two are more homebrew, you’ll have to wait a bit till I can get you specifics.
Risha - they have hand crossbows, heavy crossbows, and light. All good functioning condition, the dwarf recommends going a few shops down the Terrien’s Tinker house.
Matteo - you find a shiny set of splint, black matte stripes go down the pauldrons and chest piece, continuing down the greaves. It looks quite impressive.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Wearing his spiffy new armour, Matteo heads to the street and looks for a suitably helpful guard. Excuse me, sir. He gives a small bow. I am Sir Matteo, Paladin of Torm, newly arrived in your fair city. I am looking for the headquarters of the guard, to inquire about a holy mission that has brought me here. Could you offer me directions?
