I say we continue on with our original trail. I highly doubt those bat things could have made such a big trail. With that Corum looks for the continuation of the trail Perception 17
The trail continues it's meandering way through the forest, without noted incident. In the late morning the mist and clouds finally clear away, and the path you have been following becomes smaller and smaller on trails split and other join. Here and there you catch the sour smell of stagnant water as it collects in modest depressions, but never so large as you can not easily jump across, nor very deep.
Navi would point out the trails as they’ve come to a crossroad, “It looks like we have a choice teh make here fellas.” She’d take a quick look around to see if she could make out any tracks or any landmarks in the direction the trails go. Navi would take out the map to update it from their travel.
You are not able to identify any of the tracks, which is puzzling. There are no deer, rabbit, elk or any of the animals that you would associate with a forest. Smaller tracks are usually of small clawed animals with 3 or 4 toes with rounded ends. Larger tracks, more the size of a child's hand, seemi to be of are round, resembling more of a horse's hoof, but with definate indentations indicating 4 and 5 toes. Occasionally mixed are serpentine tracks, the widest a startling 6 inches wide.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Navi would nod to Georges to acknowledge his excitement for carrying on further than they did last time.
“Anything worth pointing out Corum?” Navi would pipe up after her quick look around the area. “We still planning teh look for dem bigger critters?” She’d look up to the trees, scanning beyond the canopy this time.
Navi would offer to lead the group down the agreed upon path, once they decide. If they’re still looking for an Apex predator, she’d want to take the trail with the most ‘threatening’ tracks.

Looking for any landmarks in the distance and direction any of the trails go ie. mountain? Volcano? Smoke? Same ol’ trees? Hills? Does one path look more travelled than the others?
"Finding out what creatures are living in this forest is a great idea, to warn the town about the more dangerous one and there are also might be ones that could benefit the town as well. I am fine with either trail." Ulrich responds.
Corum scratches his head and looks around frowning Uh I am not real familiar with anything I am seeing... at to be frank, some of these tracks are just... massive. He stops talking and just points out everything he had found including the 6 inch print.
The thick forest canopy of pine hides any landmarks such as mountains or volcanoes, although the slight but steady rise as you move away from the coast hints that there must be a high point. There are the occasional low hills that rise 20 or 30 ft above the rest of the land. But they are unremarkable, and the game trails tend to avoid them.
Game trails really don't give a feel of "more used" unless there is a water or large food source nearby.
The path that you are following continues mostly west by northwest, and seems to be the most well worn. As is normal in a forest, game trails branch, cross and split off in random directions in random times.
OCC: If your getting a Hansel & Gretel 'lost in the forest' vibe, well, yeah. But you are only a few miles from town...
((I'm cool with the lost in the forest, hansel and gretel thing lol That's what we signed up for! I was just trying to get a full understanding of whether we've actually have come to a cross roads of some sort. Trying to picture it theatre of the mind style. I suppose if it's just smaller trails with nothing of great significance right now that we can see, then may as well keep trucking along the same West by Northwest. I have mentioned that Navi has made note of the smaller branching trails. So they can be investigated again at a later date.))
"A'ight. Unless anyone objects, lets just keep on this track for now. Note them smaller trails fer later." Navi would double check her map updates before tucking it away and continuing down the same West by Northwest trail.
As the morning comes to an end, so does the wet morning and in the canopy above, clouds begin to break apart. After a another two miles, Navi notices a wider path leading east to west crosses your path. Here and there along the wide, straight path flat, black stones can be seen tilted and exposing broken edges. A hundred yards of so to the west, there is a something that looks like a pole from this distance standing.
“Aye, ‘ere we are.” Navi would stop to point out the crossroads to the others. “Looks like we’ve got an east to west crossing.” She’d point along the trail from east to west, then follow the west up with her finger, eventually pointing to where the pole in the distance in standing. “Unless we want to continue along this path, it looks like there could be something of interest to the west of here.” During this quick break to consult with the boys, Navi would pull out the map again to note the new path crossing and pole in the distance.
Corum starting to get slightly bored during the hike perks up at the mention of another big trail, I'll check out the new trail and see if I can tell anything. Anyone else want to take a look with me?
Corum, mistaking the tree for a puddle of water..... just kidding
The long buried and unused road must have been a major byway in the past as it could easily fit a wagon with room to spare on either side. The "pole" turns out to be a cylindrical, granite marker 6' tall and broken off at the top. The surface is decorated with carvings that have been obscured and washed away by the elements till they are little more than blurred lines and squiggles.
(Assuming Corum would share that detailed information with the group...)
Navi would make notes alongside the road indicating that its history shows that it could of been a major byway traveled in the past that could easily fit a wagon. She’d even sketch the cylindrical marker. “Aye, I know it’s a long shot, but would any of ye recognize if these lines and squiggles mean anything? A language?” She’d be interested in recording the carvings for any scholars in case it may be of interest to them. “And do we want teh check out the new path or continue down this one even further?

“Agreed. Looks like the trail goes west by northwest.” Navi would point it out and begin leading the way down the trail.
