Good boy, Tomoe says as she pants King on the hand condescendingly. And if we find out you told anyone, and I mean anyone, that were coming for them; there will be no place you can hide, no place you can run. Now, begone from my sight. With that last threat, Tomoe let's King go. Hoeing for her sake and his that he will be good to his word.

King crawls away, being let go, leaving alone Tomoe in the sewers. Soon her retainer returns with new information on Rat Liver.
Until recently, Rat Liver has been a gang filled with rebellious teens and former street gangs. Now, a few upper-classmen like small merchants have joined as well. What is the most baffling is that there has been an influx of acolytes and holy soldiers (If paladins are knights, then the holy soldiers are squires. They fights for a cause and/or a god but they aren't paladins yet.). This is strange because normally, acolytes are peaceful and holy soldiers don't join gangs.
She finds Kate not too far from The Dancing Weaver. After telling her this, Kate seems genuinely surprised by this information, "This is beyond weird. businessmen sometimes join bigger gang for a bunch of reasons but holy soldiers? There has never been a case of holy soldiers joining gangs in such high numbers. Even businessmen and merchants won't join a gang like Rat Liver. These people are usually scooped up by Bronzor or Ao Oni but never Rat Liver." Her expression changes from surprise to a sullen one and says, "We should be careful. There's something deeper going on with this gang." She then looks up at Tomoe and says, "You are from a noble knight family right? Do you have any idea why there would be holy soldiers joining Rat Liver?"
Money probobly. When enough money is involved, even the holy will find an excuse to be awful. Or perhaps they serve a dark god. I knew of a knight who's family had suspicions of worshiping Asmodeous.

Kate nods and says, "We can rule money out entirely. If money was the motivator, then these holy knights would be joining Bronzor and Ao Oni; more money in those gangs. The dark god theory though... that might be more plausible. We should proceed with caution. Have you fought Paladins before? We might encounter one."
Only in a starting match during training. Never anything too serious. There fighting prowess is bolstered by magic though, so we indeed need to be careful. Were you able to hire a decent merc or two? Anyone who can manipulate the weave?

Kate sighs and says, "Not yet. We have about 1.2K between us and with that, we can either get one good merc that can cast spells or we can get two not as experienced mercs without magic. Spellcasters cost a lot. Which do you think we should go for? Greater numbers or spells?"
I'd feel safer going against paladins if we had a spell caster on our side. Preferably someone with controlling or defensive spells. Between you and me we have the pain bringing covered.

Kate returns with a dark skinned male with brown hair. He wears flashy clothes but hidden beneath is leather armor. He wields a light crossbow. He seems a bit leaner compared to Kate introduces you to the merc. "This is my partner, Tomoe who is a agile fighter with a rapier. Tomoe, the man in flashy clothing is Jamaica, a Shadow Sorcerer. His hiring price is 1000 GP for this mission so we had 200 GP left over. Here's your cut." She hands you back 100 GP (Editing character sheet now). "You ready to go? How do you want to do this? You want to charge in swinging or take a stealthier approach?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

In the cover of darkness, the three of you manage to avoid eyes of nearby Rat Liver and make your way to the mansion. It is a two storied mansion but it is in a state of disrepair. The windows are broken or boarded up, the door is scratched up and looks like it's seen better days. Where there was once a courtyard, there are short rooms made of hay and metal. The small homes form two narrow lanes leading to the front doors. Inside the homes are a bunch of Rat livers smoking. You guess there's about 6 of them around. However, there doesn't appear to be any Holy Soldiers or paladins. There does appear to be one particular Rat Liver wearing rags with arcane designs. This guy seems to know how to cast a few basic spells. They haven't spotted you.
King screams again and says, "What more do you want? My boss is Desmond, I saw a portly guy in Rat Liver. What else do you want from me."
