Shae saw the eyes on her, heard the whispers around her, and felt the pressure rest upon her shoulders. This was definitely not a decision solely her own, nor was it a task that she expected to discuss alone. As always, she was beyond grateful for the Professor’s help in bridging the gap of communication.
With Mulligan leaning in to her, Shae’s eyes shift to the corner to glance at him before turning her attention back to the Pond Mother. She visibly takes her breath.
”Thank you for your welcome, and for sharing your story Pond-Mother.” Shae gives a respectful bow of her head. “From our experience within these jungles, although we may not be sure of the exact source, there is a darkness threatening to advance on a scale that could potentially affect us all. We believe we have identified the snake people as Yuan-Ti, and that they have a hand in what’s to come. Perhaps there is more to be learned from the wisdom of your elders, as there are pieces to this large puzzle still missing.” She pauses briefly before continuing. “But for now, we do wish to address the immediate concern, the recovery of your younglings and captives.” Shae dips her head once more. “Please allow us to accompany what warriors you can spare to retrieve them. Their knowledge of the encounter, of the enemies we may face, guidance to the location, and how to safely transport your brood, will be paramount to the mission.” Then she’d add. “Should a trained caretaker be necessary to secure best survival of the young, I will personally see to them and support their role with what complimentary skills I can provide.”
