The humans look to one another, seemingly unfamiliar with what a "pup" is. The woman speaks again. "Do you have names, travellers? If you mean no harm then we may perhaps take you to-."
There is a large groan from the woodwork of the ship. Stumbling out of the large hole is Captain Obaysch with the large lockbox containing what remaining kit he had with him. The pair of humans take a couple of steps back, looking quite startled at the large bulky form of the hippo man that just arrived. "Confound it all!" Captain Obaysch calls out, tripping over his foot.
"Ah!" "Monster!" The pair say, turning and beginning to flee back the way they came.
Zack uses his swift Rogue talents (Double Dash) to cut the pair off. He says, "No wait. That's our captain. He's not a monster. He's... well, we aren't from this world so they probably don't exist here but he's a Giff. Giff are no more unfriendly than men and women."
If Zack isn't quite able to cut off the humans alone, only then will Tefkae step out as well to interpose herself between path and runners, a hand at rest on the hilt of a blade. Otherwise, she remains in hiding, watch curiously, yet without an overt amount of concern in a change in scenario.

Ankor lets out a loud sigh as he watches the humans run away as if he's used to people running from him. Looking back at the Gif captain "Well Capt. the locals don't seem to be hostile" Ankor starts to walk towards the pair who have been cut off by Zack. "Don't run off... He's just... ah damnit." (Assuming my detect good and evil didn't ping anything evil with the pair) getting behind the human pair while Zack tries to calm them down. he interjects before the couple can answer. "Perhaps we can all just sit down, introduce our selves and help each other out, there is no reason to go off running in a craze and cause a hysteria that is unwarranted."
The pair of humans are taken aback again at the swift speeds of Zack and his uncanny movements. He explains to them as they hold their arms defensively near their torsos.
"What if this is all to hurt us?" The man says. "If they wanted to, I think they would have already." The woman replies. She steps towards Zack. "You and your strange companions may follow us to The Village, but it will be the elder's decision as to if we can provide additional aid."
Captain Obaysch stands back up, dusting himself down. "Blasted, my cuffs are soiled. Disgraceful." He grumbles as he goes to collect his cargo. He looks to the group that didn't rush off after the man and woman. "Well, crew, it appears we are currently stranded in this location until we can complete repairs to our vessel or reallocate resources into purchasing a replacement one." As he speaks, the heartbroken modron slowly follows out of the hole in the ship, still cradling its broken mop. "Now, did you say something? I'm a trifle deaf in this ear from close proximity explosions." He snorts as he recollects the moment seemingly with an air of nostalgia.

If you are referring to your previous use of Detect Evil and Good, that has dropped since. You were unconscious and concentration ended. You can cast it again if you have spell slots, but keep in mind you haven't had a rest since you were back in the Astral Sea.
"Wait." The woman says, stepping up beside Zack. "You should not journey into the mists alone, less you get lost." She raises her lantern. "The sacred beacons allow us to be guided to and from our home safely."
Going together, she will walk with Zack as the pair return to the rest of the group.
Ankor raises an eyebrow to the notion of getting lost in the mist without the aid of these lights. "Tefkae, you better join us as we gather the others" Calling out to the sneaky one. knowing its better to stay as a group light or no light. Sorry, I missed that bit. Divine Sense is a little different from Detect Evil and Good as it lasts for 1 turn and has slightly different things its detects.
Ankor utilises the divine senses he has and feels that neither of the pair that had approached them were of the celestial, fiend, or undead creature type. He does, however, get the feeling of that this area feels somehow desecrated, like this entire forested river area is somehow... wrong.
Captain Obaysch picks up Eight-Bit and rests the little modron upon his shoulder. "Not to worry, Number One, we will have your tools fixed in a jiffy... er, once we arrive at a settlement, that is."
The two humans seem a little on edge around the more "colourful" races in the group (namely the Giff, Modron, and Warforged) as they lead the group, holding their lanterns up to guide the group down a dirt path. It is strange, even those with darkvision who gaze beyond the guiding lights of this pair can't particularly tell that there was a path at all, the shadows of the tall gnarled trees seeming to shroud the journey ahead. You note that the sound of the river has disappeared from your field of perception, and it is impossible to tell which way was back to your ship. The pair of humans seem to not speak much as they walk forward, but after a moment or two, the woman speaks, "I am Gatella, and this is Hainish." She tells the group.
The walk seems to take maybe an hour or two, it is difficult to say, but eventually there are signs of other light sources ahead. Gatella looks somewhat enlightened by this fact. "Our home is just over this way." She tells the group. "Please keep any weapons stowed, or Gyaxys will think of you as a threat."
The mists of the nearby area seem to peel away layer-by-layer as you approach. Ahead the group can see multiple lantern lights scattered around what appears to be a small village. The buildings are stone with thatched roofs, and there is sound of some lifestock that is heard coming from further in. At the entrance to the village appears to be a large wooden archway which appears to be damp and slightly rotten. Upon the arch itself appears to be what was once carved writing that has since become illegible due to the decay.
While Ankor walks along with the group thinking about the feeling he got from the land they are now in..'what could have happened here? not sure if the muted colors is a theme here or something happened to my vision during the trip through the gate. no one else mentioned it....these lanterns they carry guiding us through the mist that they believe can get you lost otherwise, wonder what the truth is here." Looking around to the rest of the group walking along first Captain Obaysch lumbering along the path muttering about powder and occasionally giving 8-bit a little pat of comfort, 8-bit walking alongside the captain holding his broken mop one piece in each hand only interested in fixing his prized possession, then to Lady Victoria seemingly content with here new pup companion doesn't seem to be paying much attention to the walk, Zack holding a book in one hand jotting down thoughts or observations along the trip, and Tefkae walking along but surprisingly his foot-falls not making much noise. Ankor takes notice of this as someone or thing of his design was just that a design, who could have thought of such a thing, his companion Mr. Pepper scamping around walking, flying a bit or resting on his masters' shoulders. 'strange bunch... to be somehow connected enough to be put together in this situation. For what cause? what's the purpose? ' Ankor shakes his head trying to clear his thoughts into some sort of order he doesn't rehash his thoughts over and over along the journey, instead just tries to make the most of paying attention to the humans trying to get a read on their body language and any conversations they offer up over the two hour walk. "Gatella, How many people are in this village? What made the two of you come searching down this path to find us?" waiting for an answer seeing Gatella perk up when they notice the village in view, makes him think this is not a journey they do often enough to be sure they would return safely. that revelation has him a little concerned. "This Gyaxys, is that the leader of your village?" Ankor checks his sword in its sheath, pulls out a thick leather strap, runs it through his shield and slings it over his shoulder so that the shield is resting on his back like a turtle shell.

Zack reaches the villages and looks around. "Interesting" he mutters. After arriving, he at the back of the party. Zack is an odd fellow when it comes to social interactions. He can usually tell when he's being lied to or someone's trying to convince him of something. He can also fast talk his way out of trouble in a pinch and can lie to people while looking them straight in the eye. However, when it comes to normal social situations, he doesn't feel very easy. Gatella shakes her head. "Nay, Gyaxys is the guardian of our home." She tells Ankor. "As for our village, it is all the people we know. There are stories of people found lost in the mists, like yourselves, but we haven't seen any in our generation. I suppose you were fortunate you were along our path to find some medicinal mushrooms for the healers, though they may be a little annoyed we came back empty handed." As the group passes through the archway, there appears to be a faint shimmer in the air. The party then seem to note that appearing in their field of view are what appear to be a few dozen villagers, mostly dressed as farmers and woodsmen. A few of them appear to be watching the group as they enter, but their focus is more pointed towards Gatella and Hainish.
Hainish points over to a slightly larger building. "We have an alehouse over this way. You should stay a while and relax while we inform the mayor." He tells the group. "I'm sure the mayor will be able to answer any further questions you have." He tone seems a little brash, as if he was more ready to unload this burden of lost travellers and return to his prior tasks.
Entering the alehouse, it has a familiarity of a tavern that adventurers meet in after a long journey. The smell of fresh hops is in the atmosphere, but there is still something a little off due to the lack of colour; the fireplace is a dark grey with what appears to be a similar glow to the lanterns scattered around the village. Hainish goes over to the bar, where a tall and well built half-orc is watching the party enter with a look of bewilderment, especially when the goliath and giff have to bend over to get within the tavern. They speak in hushed tones to one another.
"Winthrop is the brewmaster." Gatella informs the group. "He may look scary, but he has a big heart. As long as he doesn't need to break up any arguments, he'll be fine with you. Hainish is probably explaining what happened." The pup in Victoria's care yips as it seems to spy a jar with strips of jerky on the bar.
Hainish returns to Gatella. "They are welcome to stay here for now." He then looks to the party. "Please, don't cause any trouble. We'll go speak with the mayor." He then looks to the unnamed pup. "...and don't let your companion wander too far."
OOC: So I'm going on holiday in an hour or so. Basically given I can't guarantee posting over the next week, feel free to stay at the tavern and discuss things. Help flesh out your character's backstories and get to know one another a little better. If I can get around to posting, I'll come in with some updates, but until then, enjoy your safe haven for the time being. Also, that pup will need a name eventually ;-)
Zack coughs a bit as the smell of ale hits his nose. He never really liked the smell of alcohol. He sits down at a table with the rest of the party and takes out his red book and begins writing something on it. After five minutes of writing, he puts the book away and takes out his yellow book and begins scribbling again. Those who are curious enough to look will see that he's badly drawing complete nonsense, similar to how a child doodles with chalk.
Stuff that's on the page he's currently drawing on:
Victoria thinks to herself, indeed this place is off but a whole lot better than the other place they were at. When she sees the pup wanting the jerky she ask "how does one pay for things here?" She walks over and sits on a bar stool.
OOC: indeed the pup does need a name...hmm. Also i love the doodles.
Ankor looks around the tavern and finds a table large enough for the group to sit around while they rest and wait for this mayor to arrive. "Winthrop around of drinks for the table please." Hearing Lady Victoria asking how much it would cost, Ankor pulls his coin satchel out and lays 15 silver on the table for the bar tend to pull from. While waiting for the drinks to arrive Ankor takes the time to remove some of his armor so that he can sit a little more comfortable at the table.

(Hey, managed to get a bit of time with a decent signal, so quick response.)
Winthrop brings over several tankards foaming with ale, the smell of the hops and refined brewing is welcoming to the senses. He looks at the silver coins placed down. "Those are interesting little trinkets, what are they?" Placing the tankards down in front of each person, he adds. "Oh, err, I never got to introduce myself to travellers before. Yes, my name's Winthrop, Winthrop Barleyman. So where do you folks hail from, as I'm sure the others told you, we haven't seen someone from beyond the mists since my grandfather's grandfather was born."
Captain Obaych looks at the tankard placed in front of him. "Well, Barleyman, if you must know we are survivors of the end of the multiverse." He informs them in a matter of fact tone. "Yes, but I would much like to know if you have any smoke powder reserves that I may purchase supplies from."
The pup yaps again, sniffing at the pocket of Winthrop.
Zack is concerned by the fact that Winthrop has no idea what the silver pieces are. He wonders how they're going to pay for the drinks if their gold is not a valid currency. He waits for Winthrop to leave so he can pose the question to his allies.
The moment Tefkae entered the alehouse the warforged stops in their tracks and spends the first few moments just scanning it in its entirety. Even the compulsion to 'guard' the good captain seems not to belatedly give them motivation to act. Though they would move at least closer to the group after awhile and absently listen where moments permitted it. "... Additional Query: Though it has been some times since you've met 'travelers' from the mist, do your people find much strange salvage in these lands? Or find themselves troubled by criminal activity both within or without? Or are these questions best reserved for interaction with the mayor?" Tefkae asks, having returned to sit beside Zack.
While awaiting an answer they peek over at Zack's writings if still out without any reservation.

Additional Query: Though it has been some times since you've met 'travelers' from the mist, do your people find much strange salvage in these lands? While awaiting an answer they peek over at Zack's writings if still out without any reservation.
