The following character generation rules were used:
Starting Level: 5
Race/Class: Any official source on D&D Beyond, including Unearthed Arcana. You can play Artificer etc. if you like.
Starting Ability Scores: Point Buy (or standard array)
Character Backstory: Don't worry too much about it. Feel free to work out a bit of it (perhaps a couple of NPCs based on that, like a family member, friend, rival, etc.)
Starting Equipment: Normal starting pieces, +500 gold to spend on nonmagical items (or potion of healing for 50gp each), plus one uncommon magic item. If the uncommon item is a suit of armour, it needs to be one you can afford (i.e. not full plate).
Additional rule clarifications etc. for the campaign will be housed in the below spoiler:

This is a high fantasy adventure, with hints of eldritch horror and a hint of sci-fi. The focus is on the party (obviously) and what they are wanting to do now they have found themselves in such a strange predicament. Do they want to try and find a way home? Are they revelling in escaping their previous life?
Feel free to read through the campaign and the strange mysteries that will be unfolding as they search the cosmos for their origins, perhaps a way home, or perhaps a way to thrive in their new lifestyle...
Your memory is a little foggy about what truly happened. Life was continuing on as you had lived it, then it begun to feel like the entire world shuddered with dread. You feel yourself fall unconscious, all senses failing you. You're not sure how long you're unconscious for, but it feels like an eternity. Eventually you begin to regain your senses as you open your eyes. Your vision starts off foggy, only seeing greyish-purple blurs. After blinking a couple of time you can see what appears to be a beautiful cosmos of a night sky above you. The ground you are stood on looks to be the wooden top deck of a medium sized boat, drifting in a silvery reflective pool of endless liquid. Protruding out of the silvery waters are what look like old ruined parts of buildings, revealed as silhouettes against the night sky. It is serene, yet dreadfully quiet.
Bringing your senses to the present and around yourselves, you see some fellow creatures awakening around you, in a similar manner. There is a creaking of wood from behind as stepping down from the helm of this ship is a large, stock, hippopotamus-faced humanoid person. They are dressed in a sharp looking suit with a white sash over the yellow and blue garb. Looking at the group through a monocle affixed to their right eye, the hippo-man steps down the short staircase to be on the same level as you and the others, then speaks in a strong formal accent."Ah, splendid, you're awake. Well then, get to your feet, what-what. We're going to have to get a lot done if we're going to get out of this pickle."
Zack is a half-elf with fair-ish skin and wavy black hair that is at jaw length. He also has black eyes. As far as physique is concerned, he is thin, weighing a bit less than what the ideal weight range for someone of his stature should weigh (he is 92 lbs). He is not very tall either, being 5ft tall. He wears a long azure robes that is designed like a cloak but without the hood. The cloak is open at the front and reveals his silver colored breastplate worn over dark blue padding. A rapier, a component pouch and a dagger hang from his brown leather belt that is worn around his grey pants. The pants leave his black shoes and white socks visible. His silvery shield is strapped to his left arm. The backpack he's carrying looks a bit too heavy for him but he can still move around with it. (6 lbs short of being over encumbered lol)
Zack sits up on the boat and looks around. He checks that his backpack is still on his back and nothing seems to be missing. He wonders, So am I dreaming again? I should really stop reading those stories where the simple protagonist suddenly wakes up in a strange and magical world. After a few moments, he realizes that it isn't a dream. Wait, this isn't a dream. It's alright, this is fine. I always did wonder what it was like to be in a situation like those stories. Guess I'm here now... somehow. Answering the how should probably be my first course of action.
Zack notices the others waking up but before he said anything to them, the hippo-man showed up and begins talking. Zack stands up and says, "What do you mean? Where are we and how did we get here? And what kind of problem are we exactly in?"
It would end like it always did for Tefkae. They would enter, and request surrender. The bounty would either jest to distract, make some bold claim, or insult them. The request would be made a second time. More laughter. Possibly the hired guns at this point would draw weapons at some unspoken command. They would not strike without the order. In place of it, the bounty would make poor suggestions.
Forty-Five Seconds...
Another request for surrender from Tefkae. Sometimes the third time really was the charm. Though their reputation since The Last War had diminished, plenty have heard of the horror stories of Tefkae's watering the ground with the blood of hundreds in huge, remorseless swaths of metal bodies. Tefkae played no direct part in this, but most fleshbags tended not to make distinctions between the forged.
Thirty Seconds....
The request falls on deaf ears, and more flesh bags are left to sacrifice themselves for one undeserving of any loyalty. Sometimes one gets lucky, and even damages a joint. Others just so happen to be more skilled, and even cause Tefkae to feel 'something'. It was rare for aggressors to remain capable of walking after Tefkae was done with them. There was only room for brutal efficiency even after leaving their brother's behind....
Twenty Seconds...
If they had not dared to fire upon Tefkae during the ensuing struggle, they certainly do after. Eighty-percent of the time, the shot went wild. Fifteen percent of the time, some innocent is harmed and killed by it. It never phased her much except for the rare five percent that hit something almost vital. But it is never enough. There is always a chase. And the word Thrill plays over and over in their head no matter how long of a chase it is.
Ten Seconds...
It would end like it always did for Tefkae. No matter the scenario or environment, the bounty would be fulfilled by them. After many weeks of investigation, all that remained to initiate the mission was to walk through a single door...
Present Time:
As various creatures come to consciousnes, the softened sound of shifting metal and the whistle of a teapot long precedes seeing the source of it all. Initially estimations mark the source to be some sort of either very tall halfling, or a very scrawny dwarf wearing a mixture of armor in the form of a metal helm, breast plate, and shoulder pads in conjunction with an underlying layer of leathers replete with belt straps seeming meant to further hold parts in place. Though they wear a grey cloak, much of the shifting to sit up leaves the underlying outfit exposed. It is not until they try to rise on steel-toed knee-high boots and take in their surroundings that the strangest thing about one feminine figure catches attention.
Not the grey-wooded lute or the strange metallic pipe sheathed at her side. Or even the various pouches on the main belt loop about the waist that conveyed a sort of tinkerer's expertise about her.But rather, its their left arm that just below the elbow has been replaced by the blade of a rapier. One merged in place by various smaller machine parts that disappear up her sleeve. After taking in her surroundings, Tefkae finally seem to set their focus on the hippo-man. Though its still hard to tell given the strip-like visors left their presumed face in shadows.
"Introduction: My name is Tefkae. Tef-ky-yay. And I have other inquires in addition to the half-breeds. You will elaborate further on the situation, or I may be forced to use less pleasant methods."They states simply.
"Get here?" The hippo man scoffs. "Why I pulled you out of the wastes, what-what. Here I was, trying to find some modicum of civilisation and I come across a bunch of drifters in this wretched pond of an aftermath." The hippo man fumbles at an ornate leather pouch upon his belt, taking out what appears to be a polished wooden pipe. "Honestly, no appreciation, some people." He mutters before checking the pipe's current contents, beginning to empty its contents over the edge.
He then looks back to the party, looking to Tefkae. "Well at least this sentient pepper mill knows to introduce itself in the presence of a captain." The hippo man's hand once again reaches into the pouch by its side. "Maybe I won't need you for spare parts after all... Anyway, yes, you are aboard the great ship Blastbuss. Our current co-ordinates are indefinite as charts may be inaccurate due to the multiverse blowing up." The hippo man begins to clumsily tuck some sort of dried leaves into the end of the pipe. "Oh dear," He quietly says to himself. "My stores are getting hazardously low. Almost as low as the powder reserves."
Zack is surprised by the hearing how they were found and brought on the boat. He says, "So what you're saying is that you found us in the wastes of... the universe er... ,multiverse "blowing up". Any idea when or how that happened? What do we do now then?"
The hippo laughs, "Well if I knew how we ended up in such a predicament, I wouldn't be drifting on this finicky plank of an excuse of a ship. From what I remember, the cannons were pointed off at that blasted nautiloid, ready to unload explosive devastation upon their wretched tentacled forms. Then... It was almost like a cloak of darkness spread all over the skies, the sphere becoming naught but an empty void. I awoke on this wreckage, but with my superior ingenuity and knowledge of crafts o'er land, sea, sky, or phlogiston, I easily began to search for other survivors." He pats the front of his jacket, then sighs."Ah, out of matches. What a bother." He then looks to Zack, putting the pipe back in his pouch. "Well, little man, I think you should be introducing yourself, captain's orders. If we're the survivors of the end of the world, we may as well be on first name terms, what?" He lets out a snort. "Honestly, no manners in some people." He idly mentions, itching the end of his snout.
Zack jumps a bit but it's not the kind which originates from being startled. This is the body language of someone a bit miffed at his own lack of courtesy. Zack says, "Yes, it was rude of me to not introduce myself. I am Zack Ravengar, student of the Arcane arts. You'll have to forgive the initial bad impression. Waking up in an unfamiliar place with no clue of what happened or how they got there, tends to make one forgetful of social etiquette. May I ask for your name, Captain" While he talks, Zack moves his hands around. It seems he has the habit of moving his hands while talking.
Tefkae finally seems to come out of some feedback loop of murmuring "pepper mill?" to themselves, only to look again past the boarders of the ship. She even goes so far as to pace its edge, absently shifting around a thus far hidden bag made of some black furred creature, and pulling out what appeared to be another hand. Minute mechanical parts and metal plates shift and whir quietly as the arm overlaps and attaches to the bladed appendage, meaninglessly in brief time hide it away.
Only after the process completes do they stop and regard at least Zack and the captain. Waiting only long enough for the captain to give his name, she intrudes by saying, "This one has concluded that this is not an illusion. Which means my bounty is out there, but contract is now void. Or both employer and bounty have ceased to function. In either event, it will be impossible to resume original activities. Conclusion, this one will remain with the captain until the discovery of a new purpose, which should entail repairing the damage to the multiverse."They said, alternating between a synthesized and husky feminine voice to a slightly more masculine sounding voice.

Belgurn Frostbeard was a rough and tumble hill dwarf. With no hair on his head -- his bear could more than make up for the loss. It was stark white and his skin -- especially his head was tan and leathery from the sun beating down on him while he works. When Belgurn is not working he is fighting. A lot.
Belgurn enjoys axe work most of all you can often find him chopping wood -- or beasts should they get in his way.
He has no armor to speak of, just his leathery skin. He is kind of built like if you put a much older end of his career hulk hogan and compacted him down to a nice 3'6" dwarf.
Belgurn Frostbeard rushed up to the rest of the party "Hello! Sorry I'm late everyone. Frostbeard here. Reportin' for duty."

Victoria is a slender high elf with red hair. She carries a crossbow on her back. Among other things she's well prepared. Last thing she remembers is reading in her study and was about to get up when everything went fuzzy.
Ankor, a massive goliath standing a staggering 7'-4" tall. Holding a shield with the emblem of and Iron Fist surrounded by a wreath of flame and holding in the other hand a Longsword, Full chain mail armor, skin faded colors of blue, grey and tan. eyes a bright orange, completely bald.
Ankor, sitting up and as quickly as he can get to his feet, secures his shield and checks his sword is sheathed. and his other possessions are where they usually are. Seeing the backs of the others all facing this hippo-esq person. Looking around to this ship immediately to his left and right, then off into the distance to take in the horizon and scenery.

"Ah, a magic user." The hippo man bends his bulky frame to get a better look at Zack. "Hmm, yes, should we find a better ship, I may need to employ you as a helmsman." He stands back up to take a good look at those around him, then speaks louder, as to address the party as a whole. "As for where we are, well buggered if I know. From what I know about the world from my years working under the commodore, I would deduce this is some sort of place within The Astral Realm. You see, I've been having this petty excuse of a craft floating in these waters for what must be days according to traditional solar calendars, but nary a sign of a change in the times. Having said that, I haven't felt the need for food either. As you can tell, my intellect has deduced that we are traversing the Astral in some form, but with our bodies in tact also!" The hippo man lightly brushes the front of his nose with a someone self-content smugness for working things out.
"As for who I am, you may call me Captain Rumina Obaysch, commander of this, er, fine vessel that traverses these waters." He gestures grandly though the silent area around them. "You find yourselves in a unique employment opportunity, we giff do not employ your run-of-the-mill vagabonds now, do we? My first mate and I are looking for a new set of deckhands. Yes, with my guidance and your..." He looks to the group. "Erm, what exactly do you do?" He asks in general to the group, the wood of the ship creaking slightly as it drifts closer to one of the protruding structures of stone getting ever closer.
Tefkae gives each individual their do once over. Though their attention appears to linger on the dwarf whose height made their look tall by comparison, it is the goliath who the warforged stays on even as the captain gave his spiel. "Correction. There is no water other than on our persons, and within your own bodies. Inquiry. Are you well, sir?"They cants her to the side. As soon as answer is provided, Tefkae briskly goes into another answer, possibly interrupting the captain, if only incidently.
"This one has experience tracking down, capturing, and if need executing humanoids that have run afoul of certain authorities. I too, have experience in the use of the arcane; largely in the supplementation of similar or less mechanical artifice than myself. As such, if given time to analyze this vehicles particular method of propulsion, I can assist in repairs and further enhancement." She then claps her hands, and in a burst of smoke, a sleek, tawn-furred, and winged body appears on her shoulder, meowing cutely to all. "This is my assistant, Mr. Pepper. You may Awww now."

"Marvellous, it is always good to have a diverse group of crewmen." Cpt. Obaysch snorts. "Oh, well it looks like we will get to see your combat prowess. Prepare to repel borders!" The hippo man gestures to the piece of ruinous building sticking out of the sea beside them.
Appearing to emerge from out of the shadows of the structure itself are near a dozen tiny reptillian creatures with pitch black hides. They have a raptor's body, with sharp looking talons and maws of deep shadow.
Initiative Rules:
Like with my other campaigns, I'll work initiative as follows:
All initiative rolls are done in a single chat by myself. This is in order to keep things on track and have a fleshed out tracker immediately.
If your turn is before the next enemy creature's turn, then please post (you can basically take turns in flux with one another). This is to try and keep the combat rolling in PbP.
If your turn (as mentioned above) has been available for more than 24 hours and you do not act, I'll take a base action for you. This'll be either a dodge, an attack or casting a cantrip. I won't make you use up resources unless it is necessary.

Conclusion, this one will remain with the captain until the discovery of a new purpose, which should entail repairing the damage to the multiverse." They said, alternating between a synthesized and husky feminine voice to a slightly more masculine sounding voice.

Belgurn Frostbeard Appearance:
Gash - Lvl14 Goblin Wizard - The High Court of the Aasimar Queen
Victoria rush in behind him. Sorta freaking out but more calmed now that she has found more people. Well sorta people. "My name is Victoria. Is this...a place. Where is this?" As she looks around.
Victoria is a slender high elf with red hair. She carries a crossbow on her back. Among other things she's well prepared. Last thing she remembers is reading in her study and was about to get up when everything went fuzzy.

Ankor's Appearance
Clearing his throat: "Hey big guy." directed towards the captain, "What's the order of business here? since everyone's lookin at you gotta figure you are in charge....for now"

Zack says, unsure of what he should say, "Er... I cast spells?"
Tefkae gives each individual their do once over. Though their attention appears to linger on the dwarf whose height made their look tall by comparison, it is the goliath who the warforged stays on even as the captain gave his spiel. "Correction. There is no water other than on our persons, and within your own bodies. Inquiry. Are you well, sir?" They cants her to the side.

"I fight. And I fight damn good." Frostbeard says, "I can't wait to show you."
Gash - Lvl14 Goblin Wizard - The High Court of the Aasimar Queen
"I was a sage studying the multiverse. As I too am a spellcaster. I'm also curious about this place and why we are here perhaps I shall take notes" I grab behind me to my backpack and grab my quill and paper ready to write down my observations.
