Snigbat seems a bit confused at first, not used to being treated kindly much less like a person and certainly never recieving a hug before. But she quickly sets her focus back on her people and runs off to join them while Nadaar lays back to rest.
Back to Nadia and Zack, Gum-Gum leads Nadia into the tunnel while Zack hangs back. A short tunnel leads to a sunken cavern that echoes with the sound of flapping wings. The sound emanates from a naturally formed pit in the cavern’s floor, which is covered with bat guano. Ten-foot-high ledges surround the pit and form raised alcoves to the north, east, and south. Huddled in these alcoves are several Nightstone villagers. Directly below this cavern is another similarly sized cavern filled with thousands of bats which seem to form a giant black spot in the cavern.
Nadia and Gum are able to remain quiet and approaching the first Alcove Nadiaa sees a male dwarf, two teiflings, an older female and a younger male, as well as a few humans including one female human who appears about 15 who is trying to comfort a much younger male about 6 or 7 years old
The dwarf notices gum and in a hushed boive says "What no ogre this time? If you think I'll let'cha take one of use without a fight you're even dumber then ya look." But once he sees nadia his eyes go wide. "'ey girly whatcha doin wit these goblins? you don't look like no pisoner to me own eyes."
Nadia tried playing it cool as she listened to Gum Gum, her hands settling themselves at her waist as she was desperately trying to forget the feeling that Zack’s hand left behind just a mere few seconds ago. Strong, secure, warm... Thankfully, it seemed that the goblin didn’t see the position they were in, and hadn’t made a comment regarding her flushed features, even though the tips of her ears were burning red still.
The elf focused on the situation at hand (her body heat finally calming down) and nodded in agreement at Zack’s suggestion, readying herself to do some sneaking about. Then he touched her again, this time more gently and by the shoulder, but it still caught her by surprise. When his words reached her ears, again, her cheeks tint pink, and instead of a lick to the nose, she gives him a swift punch on the shoulder and a quiet scoff. It didn’t hurt (obviously her strength wasn’t anything compared to his), but after she headed off down the tunnels, it would dawn on him that she never flat out said no to the offer...
With her mind more focused on other more important things, like saving these people, she relaxed again and quietly traversed the short tunnel with no sound made. As the dwarf spoke, her eyes were trained on the bats, making sure that none of them seem disturbed before she looks to him, speaking low. “This goblin is turning a new leaf and is helping me get you guys out of here. I’ll explain everything when we’re not underneath a bunch of blood hungry bats, but everyone needs to be very quiet and follow us if you all want to see the light of day again.”

The Dwarf looks at Gum with a doubtful look on his face. "Goblin turn'n a new leaf? Little late for that missy. But fine. So long as my people get out safely I don't much care for arguing about who is doing the help'in." The Dwarf turns to the two younger kids and helps them out, gently passing them to you. "Stay strong lad." he mumbles, when turning to help the female she pushes passed him and climbs herself down refusing any help offered, especially any offered by Gum. The two Teiflings manage to climb out with little need for aid, the younger male giving you an appreciative smile and the older female whispering "Asmodeus bless you for coming to our aid child." she gives you a warm smile and bows appreciatively before following the younger. Once the Dwarf is out he thanks you and looks again at Gum, giving a quieted grunt he reluctantly says "Thank you as well little one. Now let's get the others."
Slowly but surely you get to each alcove and rescue several villagers, mostly humans and each with varying opinions on being helped by a Goblin. You suspect that the more strongly opposed to Gums presence are probably the ones who lost friends and loved ones to the Ogres. However regardless of their opinions self preservation kicks on and they accept the help.
Out at the other end of the tunnel Zack watches as groups of villagers slowly start to trickle out of the holding area. Eventually you have a group of about 30 villagers gathered out in the main cave before Nadia and Gum return from the holding pens.
Once everyone is out the Dwarf approached you both. As many dwarves tend to be he is short, stocky and mostly muscle with a long knotted beard black in color with long unkempt hair to match. He is rather filthy and has bits of dirt and grime all over him as do most of the other villagers. "Morak Ur'gray, owner and proprietor of the Nightstone Inn at'cher service. I knew Lady Nandaar would hire aid when we did not return. Some of this rabble here was starting to doubt any of us would see anything but the inside of an Ogres stomach but not I not for one second mind you. I knew our Lady would let us down, never has and dare I say she never will. I take it that all that commotion we heard was you folks sticking to these damned beasts Aye? I hope you really made it hurt! Now unless theres anything else we should head back to town yeah? Many of these people want to go home and see if they even have a home to go to, and I'm sure you'll be eager to get whatever reward the Lady promised yous."
Zack waited, somewhat impatiently as he worried that perhaps somehow the bats would get alerted and need to be dealt with. Only able to breathe a sigh of relief when people began to trickle out slowly. Watching them all and making sure they knew the other goblins weren't going to attack. Even going so far as to say They helped us kill the two big ogres. I think they were only doing what hark told them out of fear of being eaten themselves. As more and more assembled, he gathered them near the entrance. And finally made his way back, to be met by the Dwarf, with Nadia by his side or at-least generally in the area.
Smiling when Nadia had made it back unscathed and without incident. Glad to see you're all OK. even as he said it, his eyes were on Nadia, he rubbed his arm where she had hit him before, pretending like it hurt. His mind awash with the implications from before. However, before his mind could get too far down that path, which was lucky for him, as his eyes had began to wander unconsciously - The dwarf drug him out of his momentary distraction.
He took a quick glance over the villagers, the light of his glove still there but likely to fade soon. Taking stock of their condition as he listened to the proprietor. And aye. That was us, Mostly. As I said, the goblins helped take them out when they saw we had the upper hand on em. I think they were forced to do it under pain of death under their idiotic leader, whom Nadia and Nadaar uh.. he's around the corner - executed. I think we need a little bit before we go though. The uh.. elves weren't exactly happy we were here, so we might not have a chance to 'come back' as it were.
We have a lot to tell you and I feel it would be best to do that on the way back. For now... If you folks can be patient... while we deal with some last minute things here... Plus some of us are a bit beat up, and in need of a breather. So we can move in a couple of hours? In the meantime.... Here... he says, pulling out his five rations, and handing them to Morak. I have more, but not on me. Split the contents between everyone to hold them over, and I can give them a bit more soon. Or if Nadia has some she's willing to spare for now I can pay her back when we're in town. And as I said, the rest we should discuss on the road. For now, let the people rest. Sure you haven't been doign much but atleast now you can stretch your legs.
Also tell them not to go outside... the elves may just still be out there.. so.. just in case. And OH! Almost forgot. I managed to get one of them, as much of an ******* as he is, to agree to come to Nightstone to talk about relations with your town. And uh, Daphne is over with Nadaar.
Nadaar listened, and even waved when the villagers first approached his general vicinity. Although he appears to slump every now and then his seat during the discussion, hearing his name a second time perks him up. "What?" He looks to his one side, and then the other, nearly starting at the unconscious form. "O-oh... Well, would you look at that. I hardly noticed." He chuckles to himself.
"Zack has a point. But, honestly, if you folk are willing to let the goblins make use of the river.... closer to town, I don't foresee a need for an hour's rest here."At that, he slowly, and with the use of the stalagmite, gets back to his feet. As he shifts about on the spot, making sure he wouldn't embarrassingly collapse after only a few steps, his eyes casually roams over the survivors until the settle upon the tieflings.
But without a word, he turns to Gum-Gum and says, "Snigbat with the people. Help get ready. You go if wish. Though, remember Nadaar's words, okay?"Following one last meaningful look, he turns to Zack and Nadia, and give them the short hand on the rest of the cave, if they haven't already been told by Gum-Gum. "When they spoke of it, I was tempted at first. I saw it as opportunity to know if strengthen my own inherit dragonblooded magics. But, drained as we are, even following a short rest, I would not dare lead us there." He lowers his gaze, and starts tugging at the golden whiskers that gave him a psuedo-manchu. "I... remember something else as well. When I was... luring the Ogre before. Should only take a few minutes, but once checked out, we can all leave."He turns to the dwarf/speaker of the townsfolk. "If you do not mind, of course. I know you wish to be gone sooner than later... it is just... it will be only a small excursion, I promise."

Morak listens intently to Zack. A frown appearing on his face when asked to wait for a few hours but he does not complain. Once the rations are handed over he passes them along for the villagers to share and then turns back to Zack listening to the rest of what he has to say. Before he can speak Nadaar chimes up and Morak gives him an equal amount of attention. When asked about letting the Goblins use the river a few of the villagers start to perk up and listen in, grumbling amongst themselves. By time Nadaar has finished speaking a gruff looking human male who appears to be in his 50s steps out of the group of villagers shouting. Absolutely not! These damned creatures treated us like food. They killed me ma and me little sister! We should be killing the bastards not inviting them to our front gate! Morak quickly interjects and turns to address the angry villager. Brynn you haven't got the sense the gods gave a goat! Keep her yap shut why dontcha! You can't be serious. It's easy for you Morak. You ain't got no kin in Nightstone. None of your family were chrushed or eaten. Brynn points to the young teenaged human and her younger brother, the female is holding her brother close while he hides behind her. Meanwhile she is staring daggers at Gum-Gum. What about Yondra and Sarvin huh? Ma and pa and their sister too, eaten, and it's these damn beasts fault! Where's the justice in letting them live?Morak steps up to Brynn and the two stare angrily at each other for a awkward moment. Finally Morak says calmly I know yyou're upset Brynn and you have every right to want revenge. But truth is the people who came to our aid say the Goblins helped free us. I'm not saying we let them in the walls, but they can use the river and go. And it ain't fair to be sayin' I ain't lost no one. Been in Nightstone a lot longer than you and treated everyone of ye' like me own flesh and blood. Go tend to your Nephew and husband, let me talk to our friends here. Brynn reluctantly walks back into the crowd and Morak turns back to the group.
Sorry about that. I hope you're right about these goblins. Don't be making a fool outtake me now. I don't trust them but I'll trust you and I'd you say they ain't so bad then I'll give them a chance. They can use the river if it gets us out of this cursed cave sooner rather than later but they ain't coming through the gate. Least wise not without the Lady's approval first. Lady Nandar always as been able to tell good folk from bad ones, so if she says it's okay no one will complain...well not too loudly anyway. Speaking of..Ms.Daphne...I'll have Destiny take a look at her, she'll be fine in her care. We'll wait here for you folks to do what you gotta do here but don't take to long, these people want to go home.
Zack could somewhat empathize with the man. He had felt more or less the same way about the goblins himself, even now. But Nadaar had shown him that with enough honey you could win them over and they would be good little bastards... Perhaps they were just the type of species who needed someone to tell them what to do? Regardless, he still wasn't sure if the goblins themselves had eaten anyone, and as much as he wanted to ask... he thought that would just be lighting a tinder into a jar of tar.... He sighed, as the situation fully came back into focus. He had enjoyed that light moment, it was rare he could have one that candid and .. well not quite so pure.
Luckily the Dwarf seemed to have a good head on his shoulders, and he couldn't quite remember if the dwarf .. morak, was the one who was the one likely to be upset with the borrowed supplies, or if that was the Lionshield Coster guy... Which thus far, that person hadn't named themselves. Walkign his way over to Daphne, he gave her a couple soft shakes, attempting to rouse her, so that no one would have to carry her, but for now was still lost in his thoughts when Nadaar chimed in about leaving as soon as possible.
Well it seems the mass consensus is that everyone wants to just get out of here, so I suppose we can do that. Give me just one more minute and we can get our show on the road. But yes, these goblins turned on the Ogres. I'll say it again... I don't think the goblins had much of a choice. But Nor do I have proof that they didn't. But the ones we found in nightstone helped us, most of them at-least. GumGum, is the one who led us here, and ensured we got here faster, which means that likely it saved atleast one or two of you from a similar fate as the others. But still, I want to apologize to you all that we weren't here sooner.
You've all lost someone, whether it was in the Giants attack on your town, or after arriving here only to be caged and kept as so much meat. You've all had a difficult time, and whats worse is, I don't even know how long this has all been going on. A few days? A week? More? None of you should have had to go through any of that. Those who aren't with you anymore, while I realize this isn't much consolation, they're at peace now - No longer suffering from the pains of this life. And now I'm sure they're watching over you from above, smiling that the tides have turned and you're all about to be going home.
Your home is going to need a lot of work, but you've survived being attacked by giants, and used as food. You've all lived through this, and there must be a reason for it. Shed your tears, and mourn your losses, but let this sad event mark a new beginning, instead of a sad end. I'm sure that's what your families would want.
As he's talking, his eye's keep sweeping over the gathered, making sure they all know he's talking to them all. His face stoic, but sympathetic.
So, shed your tears. Hug your neighbors and friends, and family that still live. Pick yourselves up, and live your lives proudly. Live a life those who were lost would be proud of, because your family, your friends, and your fellows will live on, through all of you. In your hearts and memories.
So.. if you're all ready to go, I'd say it's time we headed out. We have a lot to tell you all, and we may as well be moving as we do it. I have more food on my horse outside, so if anyone is still hungry, you can take it all. Just remember to share with your neighbors, I only brought what could be carried.
With that, he would head over to Nadaar and Nadia, saying so only the two of them could easily hear I'll probably say too much if I try to tell them what all happened. So I think one of you should explain the towns situation to them. And decide what we shouldn't say. Like whether or not we mention the zhents at all. But if you both want me to do it anyways, I'm glad to. I just don't want to hog the spotlight.
It felt good to be thanked for her and Gum Gum's rescue efforts, although it saddened her to see the distaste and distrust of the village people seeing a goblin try and help them, but she understood their reasoning behind it. Instead of dwelling on it any further, she simply focuses on getting them out of the pens and keeping them safe, and assessing any of those who had any previous wounds she could hopefully take care of in a pinch (Medicine: 12). She subconsciously made her way back to reunite with Zack near the entrance of the cave, returning his smile with a soft one of her own, even chuckling lightly seeing him rub his arm where she struck him.
When the dwarf approached, she gave him her attention and listened, but was glad that Zack had taken the holds on the talking. He and Nadaar were far superior than her when it came to discussing events, negotiating, persuading... anything that had to do with talking truthfully, plus, she just liked the sound of his voice. Though, as to not be awkwardly standing there listening, she also takes out five of her own rations and helps distribute them herself after giving a dismissive wave to Zack at the mention of paying her back.
The little spat between the man and dwarf happens as she is giving the last of her rations to some of the younger kids about, a small frown replacing the complacent smile she had donned. They were hurting, all of them, and she could see from their perspective why they thought ridding of the goblins would be better for the sake of their home, but Zack put it perfectly, in her eyes. When she and her sister lost their parents, both of them had to rely on one another and keep living for their sake. She knew that, wherever they may be now, they are peacefully watching over both of them, proud of the young women they both had become, even if forced to do so at such a young age.
Nadia stands up from her place, quickly dusting off her pants before joining up with the boys. She snorts a bit at Zack's suggestion. "You two are much better at the whole talking thing than I am, honestly, so," She gives Nadaar a hard slap on the back(6). "It's on you, buddy! Want me to help you on your excursion or do you want to handle it yourself?"
The whole while the old man is shouting his head off, a calmly staring Nadaar had turned his head up and appeared attentive, but not without keeping a hand casually at rest on the hilt of his longsword. Its only as Morak has calmed the others enough to quiet that he lets the hand fall away. While in the process of issuing mental commands to the two light bearing summons at his side, Zack throws him off for a moment. "That's.. that's not what I--"But by then, it was too late. So, with little more than half smile and small but defeated sigh, he sits back to listen and wait for Zack's speech to come to an end.
Nadaar cannot even make it half-way through the speech before his head grew to heavy, and expression became set in a solemn mask. As one fairly keen to not dwell too long on the grim, he tried distracting himself with absently petting Rillex. Then with a start, he whispered to him, "See your family among them?", followed by holding the Tressym a fair bit more higher to search the gathering. No matter how much it visibly began to pain him to hold up the beast, he would wait until either took off on his own, or in sensing his depression from finding them not, held him close to the chest in comforting gesture.
Either which way, any dwelling on what is to come to Rillex is sidelined by Zack's whispering to the party. His initial confused look on his face turns into a pained wince after the slap on the back. "Thank you... lady Nadia... Much.... *cough*.... Appreciated." He stated while half-heartedly glaring at the elf. "Firstly, we've already told the guards about the Zhentarim attack, so it would come out eventually regardless. The only thing I can think of not speak of--" He pauses to shoot a quick look at the Tiefling pair. "Would be a certain Altar. At least not until directly confronted, and if need be.... I dislike active duplicity. But out of necessity, this can be leveled on the Zhentarim as well. Krul, to be exact, as he wasn't exactly fond of others of our kind. And, it would not be a hard 'sell' to say his worshiping of Tiamat might've played a hand in that." He shakes his head softly in the negative. "Either way, the tale can be spoken of on the way back. Secondly, some.... assistance would be appreciated. At the very least to make this a quicker excursion. But another should see to the goblins. Let them know the deal with the water, if they so wish to partake it."
After whispering all that Nadaar starts heading back to the tunnel the Ogre chased him down with Wonder left behind, and at least the hobgoblin light at his side.
(Right below the Blue N. Or would Nadaar not have even noticed the path seeming to almost split there?:)
(Nadaar would notice the blocked passage as would Zack and Nadia. Pretty much anyone going down that tunnel would have seen it clear as day. Posting shortly)
Morak approaches the Teifling and points towards Daphne. With a nod of understanding the Tiefling approaches and kneels beside the unconscious women while Zack is trying to wake her. It's okay hun. I'll take care Daphne, poor girl was have been so frightened she passed out. She then utters a few prayers to herself while tending to Any of Daphnes wounds and slowly helping her wake up and to her feet. Zack doesnt fail to notice that the prayers are to Asmodeus, nor does the Teifling attempt to hide her words.
The people of Nightstone seem to take some comfort on Zacks words, most people end up gathering around what's left of their friends and family and many embrace one another. As rations are passed around people start to eat, some hesitantly others greedily. At the end of the speech Morak goes before the group one more time. Well spoken Lad. And don't you folks fret about getting here in time. I'm sure it took the lady some time to find help. These sods thought no one was comin', but I knew better. No go, do whatever it is you need to do and return. I could lead these people back meself but if whatcha say about them elves is true...well I'd rather have some brave heros by my side if ya get me meaning. With that Morak returns to the gathering of villagers, going around and checking on every individual.
Meanwhile with Nadaar, Rillex looks around the group and eventually flies up and over looking around. He eventually returns to Nadaar and curls up under his arm, clearly saddened. Once Nadaar has spoken to the others and makes his way down the tunnel Rillex decides to apparently to stay back, curled up on one of the rocks.
Nadaar makes his way down the tunnel where he was just so recently chased, eventually leading to where a fork in the tunnel should be, one side blocked by a large rock. With a couple of pushed and, unless someone helps or takes over, some pain and coughs, he finally gets the rock to push off to the side and out of the way. Inside is a very small chamber which contains a wooden chest tucked away in the back. The chest as an old looking lock on it, but immediately upon inspection it falls off, clearly the lock was just for show and had likely never worked. Upon opening the chest and revealing its contents Nadaar finds what he can assume is Harks horde of treasure.
The chest contains the following.
12gp 55sp and 87cp in loose coins, a matching set of silver salt and pepper shakers (10gp a piece, 25gp for the set) a bloodstained leather case containing lockpicks, a file, pliers and the like (25gp), a Holy symbol of Silvanus, wooden (25gp) and last a Potion of Healing
Whether alone or with another, Nadaar is still left near breatheless from the effort. And yet, he is determined to the task to the end. The fruits of which leaves him smiling in both mild amusement and... just mild amusement, really. He makes short work of packing everything away, resolving at some private point later to redististribute it later. But with that, and little more in mind worth the risk, the Dragonborn makes his way to the center chamber, only to deviate towards the goblin bed chambers to tell them the good news about the water. Or more pointedly, motion Gum-gum and Snigbat over to whisper the news to them in goblin.
"At the very least, you can stock up before your journey using far cleaner and less dangerous waters." He add with a bit of a smile. "Unfortunately, it is as you feared about the people. They will not harm you in pursuing the drink. But, it... will be some time before they are more accepting. And, they will not walk with you back. So, follow after a good ways until you find a good spot to collect some river water for the journey."

Snigbat and Gummy bear nod in understanding, agreeing to wait a while before heading towards Nightstone.
Whenever Nadaar makes it back to the main group he would see Daphne has woken up and is standing on her own though she is still pale and not speaking to the other villagers. It seems most people are assuming she is traumatized by whatever she saw after being taken. The Tiefling, Destiny, approaches Nadaar as he limps back in. Please, let help you. It's the least I can do for risking your lives to save us. without waiting for permission she places a gentle hand on Nadaars chest. Whilst the healing magic takes affect, Destiny coughs rather violently, abruptly causing the spell to end with minimal healing affect. Specks of blood land on Nadaars chest as she coughs and she quickly covers her mouth turns her head. Wiping away the blood from her mouth she looks back as Nadaar with an apologetic look. Hehe...sorry about that child. Guess I'm not as good a healer as I used to be. As she speaks the younger male Teifling rushes she her side and gently places his hands on her shoulders as if to support her in case she fell. Mama, please take it easy, yaf'ry qaulq za efwm hafrwydo za il yirdh qrijy. Om mfwm tmudv, xe duzzdy kuz ao myidulq sal'z cudd py.
Their brief conversation is not understood by any of the party and lasts but a moment. Eventually the younger Teifling escorts Destiny back to the group of people and sits her down until the group starts to leave. At this point most of the villagers are standing together waiting on the word to start heading back.
Nadaar reflexively jerks away as soon as he sees the Tiefling reach out her hand, and even bears his teeth a bit. The hostility only lasts for a second. And after which, he straightens out his collar, puffs out his chest a bit, yet put on an apologetic air. "I... appreciate the thought, Mam. But I've already been treated well enough for now." He said, and then gesture for her to return to the villager group. Only once she and her son departs would he breathe a sigh of relief.
'This will be one an awkward return to Nightstone' He thought grimly, remembering in full the shrine incident. And with that, Nadaar nodded to his comrade, signalling the end of the long wait to journey back to Nightstone.

Zack felt like there may be something here they were missing.. like what was over that crevasse? but his duty thanks to Nadaars words outweighed his desires. Seeing that Daphne was awake, Nadia was healthy, and Nadaar.. a bit worse-for-wear but otherwise good. Most of the town safe, or atleast he assumed so with thirty or more people.. Just as Nadaar signalled he was ready to go, he was hit with a recollection... Ah shit, I need one mo... Actually, does anyone .. by chance... have a blanket, sheet, bedroll... something large enough to carry a body in? There's someone that isn't exactly something pleasant to look at.. all things considered... but he deserves a proper burial too. And I need to get something I dropped as well.. If not, uh.. he was clearly hesitant to offer but luckily he doubted the body was in the rotting phase yet... I'll carry him out myself on my back.
If a blanket or something akin to one was offered, he would take it with appreciation, otherwise he'd look a little defeated, knowing this would keep Nadia at bay most likely. Regardless, when he did or did not receive what he'd asked for, he would then head back down the tunnel - the long way, as there really wasn't another choice... stop by where Hark had escaped his net, and packed it into his belt again.
Then, heading to where the one man who's name he had forgotten was, and whether by fabric or by hand... He would look at the corpse... if by hand.. he would get the bright idea to cauterize the bleeding appendages by using the flames from his new power, whether he had to tap it directly or hit near it until it would staunch any bleeding, before picking it up. Then, making his way back to the villagers, and nodding grimly that it was time to go. Heading to his horse and passing out rations as needed but not riding it out of respect for those who couldn't.
As they made their way down, he made a point to stay far enough to not disturb any of the villagers with the body as much as he could, while speaking loud enough, that he hoped, most of them could hear. So, I have some bad news, that I feel would be best for you to learn of now. The situation in Nightstone is.. grim. I'm sure you all saw some of the attack, but I doubt you all saw all of it, or the aftermath. My friends here and I came to Nightstone because of Lady Nandars desire to broker peace with the elves. And the town had been left mostly a ghost town by the time we arrived.
The The obsidian rock, the uh.. Nightstone has been stolen. Probably by the giants that attacked. it was probably the reason they attacked. Most of the houses are destroyed to some degree. The Inn took some damage as well. Sorry man. The keep was partially destroyed. So for the most part the town is in heavy disrepair. Some houses may need to be moved entirely if you can't find a way to move the boulders... As you can guess, Goblins were there, and we did have to kill a few ourselves. But others, Like GumGum, Nadaar convinced them to be of better use. They guarded the gate, for us and helped us keep a watch over the town instead of looting it.
We found out that some Zhentarim agents had attempted to infiltrate the town prior to the attack. They were intending to make Nightstone a Zhentarim town. But between my friends and I we managed to dispatch them. Unfortunately, before we could - one of them had set fire to the barn.
We eventually made it to the keep, and I'm sorry to have to tell you all this, but, Lady Nandar is dead. She was killed during giants attack. And aside from the staff and guards... You're whats left.
Thats all the bad news.
Now... For the good news. Whether it was fate, an act of some divine, or other power, or just by Tymora's luck.. the invites to broker peace brought us to your town. We killed the goblins who wouldn't comply. We prevented the Zhents from taking your homes from you. Not everyone in the keep is lost. You can rebuild, and start over. Thanks to GumGum, we were able to find you as fast as we did, after the guard told us where you guys had went. And you all are still alive. And I'm gonna be honest, when we came to rescue you all, I borrowed some supplies from both the inn - the rations.. at least most of what I passed out to you all was from there. And I borrowed some of the gear we used to get here from the Lionshield. I'll return it if you'd like or pay for it when I can if you'd prefer. I felt we might need it and had no idea what we'd be going up against until we got there.
Unfortunately no one has a blanket to give or any similar item, so you are forced to being the corpse back by hand. Many people seem upset at the sight, some avert their gaze entirely, but none seem to have a reaction that might indicate he was kin. Eventually you all start out of the road. It was about late afternoon this time and by time you arrived the sun would be starting to set. For a while the people are quiet, with only minimal murmurs of speech amongst themselves. Once Zack starts speaking they all quiet down to listen. At the mention of the Nightstone being stolen, you hear many anger murmurs and curses, directed at the giants and at the loss of their towns namesake. Fee people are surprised to hear that homes have been damaged, and Morak seems to be calculating cost of repairs out loud depending on how damaged the inn is. Once the topics of Zhents are brought up you hear the crowd really start to pick up. Many people wondering why they came, how they knew to come, if they were in league with the giants. Others praise your actions, reinforcing the heroic image they already have of you. Morak looks at you with a mixed look of one who is impressed and concerned but he remains quiet. Then Zack drops the bomb shell. At the mention of Lady Nandaars death the crowd goes deathly silent, some stop in their tracks only to be prodded along by a friend or family member. Soon sobbing can be heard from various people in the crown Morak included. Many people start to wonder aloud about what to do next, If they should stay or leave. The people are heartbroken, and fearful of an uncertain future that lays ahead of them. However Zacks final words bring hope to many, hope that all is not lost and what was destroyed can be built up again. By time you finish speaking to them all you've almost arrived in town and once get close enough you see two of the guards you rescued in the keep, Syd and Kaelen, waving excitedly to greet you. They lower the gate as you approach and everyone gathers into town. The guards come to relieve Zack of his burden and bring the corpse to the graveyard to prepare a burial. Everyone else slowly starts wandering off their homes, inspecting the damages. A Halfling women and her several kids return to a partially collapsed home, a house Zack remembers seeing the body of a male halfling, likely the father of the kids. The Teifling family returns to their home, the mother looks concerned at the door that has been broken down and upon entering gasps as she looks to where you remember the shrine being as she approaches it she moves out of sight and into the home. The three of you notice several graves have been dug up in the secondary graveyard, and the bodies that had been lying out in the open appear to have been moved there.
Morak stares at his broken inn for a moment before approaching the group, wiping tears from his eyes. I can't believe the Lady didn't survive the attack. She was the kindest soul ye'd ever meet. But that means she didnt hire ye to rescue us? Ye could have seen the town the way it was and just left if ye wanted. You should be rewarded properly, seein as ye ain't been paid. I need to see how bad me inn is damaged, but come see me before the nights over if ye would. With the lady gone, well I'm no King Bruenor but someone has to keep these folk working together until the nobility decides whose to take over the Lordship seein as the Lady has no next of kin. As such I'd like to speak with all of ya's about what comes next. Oh and feel free to keep whatever you took from the inn and the Coster. The body you carried, Darthag, he ran the Coster and ain't in no position to complain, as fer me I don't mind if you took what you needed in an emergency.
And with that Morak head to the inn, but briefly stops and heads to the graveyard. He stops to look at a ccorpse. The corpse of a bronze skinned half-elf in leather armor. He stares at it for a moment and shakes he head and eventually spits on the ground in contempt, but a look of fear remains on his face nonetheless. Once he in finished he heads inside the inn, leaving the three of you in the center of town free to do whatever you please as the people of Nightstone attempt to move forward.
'Perhaps I should've said 'once' we're back, and not 'on the way', eh' A grim faced Nadaar thought as he carefully watched the people's reaction to the story. Wherever there seemed to be a need for it, he would step up to gently goad those that stopped along with either remindeers of 'it's not safe here' or 'all is not lost just yet'. That, other things, depending on what he could read on a person in the moment. He is just as content to go slowly and let others try first out of subconscious fear of jostlingly his injuries. Come what may, the Dragonborn keeps Rillex close to the chest, knowing how infectious grim tidings can be among the masses.
Only once the procession reached gates would Nadaar dare to smile and raised waved a free hand in turn to the guards. Such elation held up poor once past the gates, and seeing the reminder of the past days events. 'Ooh! Right... may wish to--' His thoughts cut off there, as his attention is ripped from watching the Tiefling familiy enter their home, to respectfully given Morak his undivided attention. "You are rather.... generous. Given the circumstances, I had not quite expected it." Nadaar admits, before giving a more respectful nod. "You already had my respect, but now you have my upmost gratitude. And I'll be sure to be buy in an hour."He said -- or call after, if need be -- to Morag, then looks to Nadia and Zack.
"Well, that was quite excursion. I--" He pauses, and again glances over to the tiefling home. "Have some business to see to. Though before that! Here-..."He starts handing over 3gp, 18sp, 29cp to both Nadia and Zack, keeping the spare silver piece. He also passes along one healing potion to Zack, and the Holy Symbol of Silvanus to Nadia. At that, he starts to turn to move on, only to stop short and squint at Nadia. "... I also found these, uhm.... Just here. If none of are particular skilled at their usage, then I can keep them. But, I thought I'd offer at least."He holds out the leather case for either to take.
As soon as that is out of the way, Nadaar again tries to make himself more presentable on his way over to the tiefling house.

With how highly the townsfolk spoke of Lady Nandaar, Nadia should have better anticipated their grief when they were finally delivered the bad news. She does her best to comfort those around her, and was glad that Zack had instilled some hope for them regardless of their loss. When they were approached by Morak, Nadia listens to him carefully, and gives him a nod in affirmation at his words.
Just a she turns to go see if she could possibly help anyone in the town, Nadaar grabs her attention in giving her coin, the elf thanking him as she puts the coin in her pouch. Though, when given the holy symbol, she looks over it a moment, her brow raising in question, but in the end she pockets it, as well as the leather case he offers her. She knew these tools well enough to know what their intended purpose was for, she just hoped that if either of the boys knew it as well, they didn't judge her for it. "Thank you, Nadaar. I'll be meeting back with you two at the inn. Just... Be careful with... whatever it is you intend to do." The last bit comes out as he is walking away and towards the tieflings house, her lips thinning. Nadia doesn't try to think too much on it, and gets to helping whomever needed her aid.
Nadia: as you look around the village you see many people have flocked to their homes to I spect the damages. Those who lost someone in the initial attack instead to the graveyard to mourn. A couple humans do stand out to you however. The teenaged female and her kid brother. They stand alone in front of their house looking at the mess. While the house avoided any direct hits from boulders, there are several in the farm connected to the house and the door is off its hinges. The older sister enters the cottage alone and seems to be collecting random things off the ground before finally she let's out a frustrated yell. You're a bit far away but it seems she is yelling at her brother who is peeking in from the entrance and crying. You're too far to make out the words of the conversation. (4G is their house and farm)
Nadaar: You start walking over to the Tieflings house passing several of the other destroyed homes In the process. As you no doubt remember and can see now, this house was lucky in that it did not suffer a direct hit. As you approach you hear soft muttering in a language you don't understand, from the sound of the voice you figure it's the mother. Once at the kicked down front door you can see the son in the main room of the cottage. He is checking various drawers, cubbars and chest to take stock of what if anything is missing or damaged. The mother is currently gripping her severely damages Holy symbol of Asmodeus and kneeling at the shrine praying frantically and teary eyed. The Son is the first to notice you and approaches to greet you.
Oh, you're one of the ones who helped save everyone. Please come in we can't thank you enough. I'm Grin by the way. I work...well worked the stables. If you guys need someone to look after your horses while in town I'd be more than happy to look after them. Seems theres a few more horses in town than before we left and no where to stable them, but so long as we keep the gates closed it shouldn't be a problem. Grin seems awfully excited to see you now that he isn't taking care of his mother. Very much like what one would expect of someone meeting a hero in person. The mother finishes her praying as Grin talks to you, struggling to stand up. Grin realizes what's happening and quickly rushes to her side to help her stand up. With a little aid he helps her over to speak to you.
Ah, you're the one who was hurt back in the cave. You still don't look great, should really let me take a look at you. I had a potion of healing around here I'd offer but..well Grin says it's been stolen so I apologize. Sorry I'm being rude, my name is Destiny Agganor, village midwife. My son Grin works the stables for Lady Nandaar. Well I'm not sure what he does now but...like you're friend said we can rebuild. Anyway...is their something I can help you with? At this point as she gets a good look at you see notices the healing kit you carrying and it's clear she recognizes it as the one she is missing. She frowns at the sight but looks back up to you and smiles, not saying anything about it. Grin doesnt seem to have noticed. (Their cottage is 4F)
Nadaar is careful to keep his expression neutral throughout the well recieved welcome; no matter how much it pained him to do so. After years of having to play pretend for kin and clan alike, at least when absolutely necessary, it was almost second nature to the dragonborn. Although he listens attentively, it is Destiny's notice of the Healer's kit at his side that finally causes a crack for form in the mask. Rather than answer immediately, he looks to Rillex if still around, and nudges him a bit, before directing him towards a nearby rooftop. Even if not obeyed, he inwardly sighs, as well as mutely pray Hlal did not chose that moment to play any other pranks at his expense. Not yet, at least.
Wordlessly, he unstrings the kit from his side, and holds it out to the pair. All while still largely maintaining a neutral air. "I believe this belongs to you. It is unfortunate, but I could not return the potion as well. In fact, I am uncertain what happened to that, but.... that is neither here nor there." He takes a steady breathe as he shifted around to stand far more straight back on the spot. "I do believe you are owed an apology for this theft. Though they were taken with good intention, it does not fully excuse the crime." He looks to the partially shattered door frame, and shakes his head. "Nor my overzealousness to breech the doors... not my brightest moment. But I assure you, it was not with initial intent on taking anything. But, to search for survivors... Knocking was tried, of course. But, when we began to fear an occupant having trapped themselves inside, and, well... needing answers, the 'hammer' approach was the choice."He says calmly, before narrowing his eyes back at Destiny.
"Those things I apologize for. I cannot say the same for that-..."He gestures over to the symbol. "At least, not without confirming something.... What--" His voice catches, but after a quick moment to clear his throat he presses forward. "I have only an inkling of what it represents, and what I do... leaves me with questions about Nightstone. But Ignoring that for a moment, I would understand something... Did you 'booby trap' it magically to prevent inspection, or... theft? For upon entering, it seemed to... react magically, and assault one of my own, and forcing my hand to stop it." He states bluntly.
Nadia stealth 18
(Test roll 39)
Occassional Dungeon Master.
But, honestly, if you folk are willing to let the goblins make use of the river.... closer to town, I don't foresee a need for an hour's rest here." At that, he slowly, and with the use of the stalagmite, gets back to his feet.
Though, remember Nadaar's words, okay?" Following one last meaningful look, he turns to Zack and Nadia, and give them the short hand on the rest of the cave, if they haven't already been told by Gum-Gum. Should only take a few minutes, but once checked out, we can all leave." He turns to the dwarf/speaker of the townsfolk.

Where's the justice in letting them live? Morak steps up to Brynn and the two stare angrily at each other for a awkward moment.
Occassional Dungeon Master.
"That's.. that's not what I--" But by then, it was too late.

9 -Healing

Occassional Dungeon Master.
And I'll be sure to be buy in an hour." He said -- or call after, if need be -- to Morag, then looks to Nadia and Zack.
"Well, that was quite excursion. I--" He pauses, and again glances over to the tiefling home. "Have some business to see to. Though before that! Here-..." He starts handing over 3gp, 18sp, 29cp to both Nadia and Zack, keeping the spare silver piece. But, I thought I'd offer at least." He holds out the leather case for either to take.

But, when we began to fear an occupant having trapped themselves inside, and, well... needing answers, the 'hammer' approach was the choice." He says calmly, before narrowing his eyes back at Destiny.
"Those things I apologize for. I cannot say the same for that-..." He gestures over to the symbol.
