Meep raises and eyebrow and looks at the guard. "And what if they did? What if they had more? Do you, per se. Think you could handle a dragon? An army of casters? Even a powerful wizard could easily turn you on your own you know." She raises her head slightly and eyes the guard expectantly. Her tone is more serious than diminishing.

The guard relaxes again. "Oh no, these are mostly merchants and wandering types. A few hardy adventuring types wander in from time to time, but they never stick around long. Like that dwarf and his little band...went into the inn there and I guess recognized the yuan-ti for what it was. Stuck a dagger in it, then they hightailed it into the Serpent Hills. Guess he was going after more of 'em? That's all that's out there, I think."
(Baird, give me a nature check at advantage)

The guard looks at Meep. "We've trained against all that...I have no doubt Torm would be with us in such a fight. Perhaps you underestimate our numbers."

Meep nods in thought before she tilts her head. "Where did he run off to? The dwarf? And I'm assuming you've been keeping an eye out in case the yuan-ti returns with friends? And don't take my questioning as undermining. I just want to make sure everywhere we encounter is properly defended and prepared for the worst. Better safe than dead."

The guard nods. "Happened the other day, in the inn like I said. Dwarf went into the hills with his bodyguards, buncha tall, cloaked guys. We've been watching, but don't expect any more. At least, not for a while."

Ah, he gave it to em good eh? 'ow of'en do dey come round here? And why? I mean why 'ere at least. And de snake hills are a bit aways right? Maybe we can swing by de inn first, ask a few tings, and den de market. Dis seems too odd to not be related.
The guard shrugs. "Who can say why they do anything? They loot and steal what they can, then retreat to the hills. It's a pretty good journey, for sure."

Thinking quick of a manner to casually bring the topic to the conversation, Ree'lyn seizes the opportunity when the halfling asks the general question: - "Because you had a nice curiosity to tell me I will tell you one as well. Just the other day, my companions and I ran into another tavern in Greenest and we saw these wicked looking fellows who had this strange compliment to each other with the open palm of the hand and were all about dragons this and dragons that." - shaking his head while twisting his mouth in a disgusted look. - "Such a nuisance. I hope you got none of these around here."
Baird again scans the horizon, now partially blocked by tents, but still able to see over most of them with his towering height. Not seeing any type of civilization other that a trail or two, he nods and speaks with the mind set of a general going into battle.
Seems like dat'd be a waste a time if yeh ask me. Like gotta be somefin here dey want. Do dey take people? Any missing persons as of late?
They continue walking, and talking, until they reach thier destination.
(I assume we would have made it to the inn by now?)
The halfling looks troubled and shakes her head. Dragons? No, ain't seen nothin' like that. I heard there's been some dragon sightings lately, but not around here. I'm hopin' they stay away, too. Snake people is bad enough.

The halfling tending the bar is in deep conversation with Ree'lyn. She glances over, does a double take, then tells Ree'lyn Hang on, got some customers. She sidles over to Baird and Meep. What'll ya have? Her eyes dance over the horns, the frog, and Baird's fur covered body.

Meep calmly stands on Baird's hand, tilting her head. "Hmm... Red wine? Or tea. Whichever is easier for you?" She gives the barmaid a pleasant smile (despite frogs not REALLY having teeth) and steps off Bairds hand onto the closest stool that would allow her to be seen over the counter.

Yes, you know exactly who the Yuan-ti are, and why they're not really welcome.

Shit. Well if dey taken em, its fer breeding. I may not 'ave the best moral compass, but least i got one.
