A terrifying frog-like creature leaps from the sewer and over a sidewalk tavern table, much to the surprise of the couple dining there this evening in Luskan. Its gangly arms are deceptively muscled, ending in a mass of sinew and three long, thick claws. It hunches as it runs on all fours through the city's streets.
Roccar, a human barbarian, massive in his own right, climbs out behind the death slaad and charges, throwing the table aside, drawing further gasps from the baffled onlookers. "Now! We've got him!" he shouts.
On cue, seven adventurers step out into the street; five on one side, and two on the other. The slaad scrambles to change direction, darting down a nearby alley, the walls of which had been coated in oil by these same adventurers earlier in the day. The creature tries and fails to clamber up the side of the slick, moldy walls to no avail. It stops and turns to face the barbarian and party closing it into the alleyway.
Trapped, it releases a feral growl and smirks. "She loves you," the slaad croaks, seconds before rushing the party.
Aradurk: Half-Orc Fighter (Battle Master) Gruun Dendweller: Bugbear Barbarian (Path of the Totem Warrior/Spirit of the Bear) Karst: Scourge Aasimar Paladin (Oath of Vengeance) Killian Joy: Human Paladin (Oathbreaker) Rycider Pillerton: Human Bard (College of Lore) Tanakir Dreiden: Fire Genasi Paladin/Warlock (Oathbreaker/The Celestial) Wes Fiddletum: Rock Gnome Wizard (School of Transmutation)
OOC: You and Roccar have been trying to track down a group of death slaadi that escaped from Sundabar to Luskan through a portal beneath the city. You have been working together all day to track down and trap this death slaad, and you finally have it cornered and outnumbered. Use this combat to introduce (or re-introduce) your character to the others. You have beaten it in initiative, and can be standing 20-50 feet away from the creature, however you would like to be positioned.
Coming up and scrambling onto the street top. Seemingly unphased with a stoic determination as he exits the sewer. Having seen him covered in some form of grease or gunk from his tinkering, he doesn’t look much dirtier than normal. This rock gnome with a bulbous nose and tossed black hair. Grey cloak stained with various colors and dirt.
meanwhile an amber colored weasel is frantically scurrying around the shoulders and waste popping in and out of her pocket dimension, Petunia, his faithful companion.
His hands dive into a pouch as he retrieve a small leather loop. He wraps it around his wand and flicks the wand upwards. “Aerovante!”
A tall, young woman dressed in a dark, stained cloak and carrying a scarred old heater shield, steps from concealment into the street, drawing her sword and incanting a few words. A shimmer passes over her as she forms up in the front line, shoulder to shoulder with the other fighters. She's dressed in serviceable if dirty splint, shield on her right arm, the longsword dancing in her left hand. Her long black hair falls straight, framing her pale face, and right now, her piercing blue eyes burn cold as she stares down the charging slaad. There's a palpable air of anger spilling from her, a clear intent to do harm, and it makes those near her a little more brutal. She grits her teeth, but is otherwise silent.
Killian stands firm to the charge, then swings her sword as the slaad reaches the line.
Before combat: If allowed, she will have cast Shield of Faith on herself during the approach, for an effective AC of 21
Action: Two strikes with her magical longsword:
12 to hit, for 13 slashing damage
19 to hit, for 13 slashing damage
Notes:All friendlies (and also undead and fiends, alas) within 10' receive +3 to their melee damage rolls due to her Aura of Hate.
Embarrassing Edit: Yes, so sorry, I read that wrong a long time ago, and now stand corrected. Me, and undead and fiends. My bad... literally.
A fire genasi with coal black skin covered in veins of pulsing read steps up to the Slaadi with a simple club, calling upon holy powers to enhance his weapon. Centered in his forehead is a faded brand in the image of a bident with two small eyes, the symbol of Belial. As Tanakir swings, the club ignites with green fire.

A low rumble fills the alleyway as the slaadi turn. The shadow of a the building seems to lean before resolving into the hulking form of a bugbear. He towers above his companions, a Greataxe clenched in his fist. A steel chest plate glints from beneath the brown bear fur of his cloak. The growl echos in the alley, crescendoing to a sudden stop. An explosion of movement hurls the bugbear forward as he slams his Greataxe with furious strength.
Rycider, adorned in a comely folkloric dress, leans casually against the doorway to the tavern, making sure not to slam her head on the beam. She appears to be a blonde now. She takes a sip from her mead.

Karst moves like a predator, low and purposeful coming at the slaad from a different angle to this others already engaged in melee with him.
His long dark hair is tied back and his eyes, pure white orbs that betray his celestial heritage, flicker with fire. The battleaxe in his hand, already magical, is enhanced by a spell whispered to Hoar, God of Vengeance, and he unleashes a pair of heavy blows with the rage that always burns beneath the surface fuelling them.

His ferocious approach turns to a slide beneath the chaos as he falls prone.
The slaad takes advantage, resisting the effects of Wes's spell, raking a claw across the prone paladin and dealing 10 slashing damage and 7 necrotic damage. Before it can strike again, its attention is forced away by the sudden bite and burn of blades and club of Aradurk, Tanakir, Killian, Gruun, and Roccar. Despite the pummeling, the creature smiles widely while it fends off Tanakir, striking the genasi with a claw, dealing 12 slashing damage and 6 necrotic damage, then snapping its jaw shut on his arm, dealing 13 piercing damage and 5 necrotic damage.
